Budget Deficit Drops Nearly By Half

Published by at 12:31 pm under All General Discussions

Interesting news out on the Budget deficit (the annual short fall of revenues to costs of running the government). Apparently the economy is so hot it nearly cut the deficit in half from the projection back in February:

The federal budget estimate for the fiscal year just completed dropped to $250 billion, congressional estimators said Friday, as the economy continues to fuel impressive tax revenues.

The improving deficit picture _ Bush predicted a $423 billion deficit in his February budget _ has been driven by better-than-expected tax receipts, especially from corporate profits, CBO said.

So our deficits are dropping like rocks, taxes are low, unemployment is low [down to 4.6%], inflation is low and the DOW is at all time highs. And the Democrats want to change the direction of the country ….

Yeah, right.

As my regular readers know for the last few days it’s been All-Foley-All-The-Time here at Flopping Aces. Frankly I’m a bit sick of it, and I know most of you have to be by now also. That’s why I am now changing to All-Economy-All-Th…

An uncovered memo suggests the Iraqi National Congress was feeding intelligence to Cheney’s aides

By Mark Hosenball and Michael Isikoff
    Newsweek
Dec. 15 issue – A memo written by a top Washington lobbyist for the controversial Iraqi National Congress raises new questions about the role Vice President Dick Cheney’s office played in the run-up to the war in Iraq.

The memo, obtained by NEWSWEEK, suggests that the INC last year was directly feeding intelligence reports about Iraqi weapons of mass destruction and purported ties to terrorism to one of Cheney’s top foreign- policy aides. Cheney staffers later pushed INC info—including defectors’ claims about WMD and terror ties—to bolster the case that Saddam’s government posed a direct threat to America. But the CIA and other U.S. intelligence agencies have strongly questioned the reliability of defectors supplied by the INC.

For months, Cheney’s office has denied that the veep bypassed U.S. intelligence agencies to get intel reports from the INC. But a June 2002 memo written by INC lobbyist Entifadh Qunbar to a U.S. Senate committee lists John Hannah, a senior national-security aide on Cheney’s staff, as one of two “U.S. governmental recipients” for reports generated by an intelligence program being run by the INC and which was then being funded by the State Department. Under the program, “defectors, reports and raw intelligence are cultivated and analyzed”; the info was then reported to, among others, “appropriate governmental, non-governmental and international agencies.” The memo not only describes Cheney aide Hannah as a “principal point of contact” for the program, it even provides his direct White House telephone number. The only other U.S. official named as directly receiving the INC intel is William Luti, a former military adviser to former House Speaker Newt Gingrich who, after working on Cheney’s staff early in the Bush administration, shifted to the Pentagon, where he oversaw a secretive Iraq war-planning unit called the Office of Special Plans.

    Ken, Duh

Here you are pasting a story from a Progressive(formerly known as Communist) front newspaper, and even it says that Cheney was getting intelligence about WMD”s

Find us some more supporting papers, even if they are MSM. that support Pres Bush like this one does.

    Say Hi to Jacque

And they say the McCarthy era is over. FE calls NEWSWEEK
equivalent to a COMMUNIST FRONT periodical.

The archaic as…pirerer to a semblance of logic believes NEWSWEEK promotes the”INTERNATIONAL JIHAD CONSPIRACY” threatening to turn him into a dhimmi rather than a slave of the Reds. The public ain’t buying-and you WMD
    promoters are passe’.

Even I, who believe FDR was shown by historian Toland
and others to have likely been informed of the Japanese
attack on Pearl Harbor in time to have avoided the casualties,
know better than to argue the point as if it will change
    any current realities.

You WMD cultists don’t realize the public decided at the
time of the Kay Report release, and it ain’t ever coming back
your way,not even after the troops exit Iraq in a failed
    war, Vietnam-style.

Cheney used intelligence from Iraqi defectors after being
told it was no good. Got it? Cheney, the Haliburton empire-
builder ,he of “the insurgency is in its last throes” assurances,
    delivered long long ago.

Your French-envy is pathological, passe’ one.

You would just love to substitute several hundred French
lives for some of the hapless US soldiers’ lives lost, but the French
were wiser than you would have them be-too wise to follow
    Bush to disaster.

    Lefty,
“And they say the McCarthy era is over”

You do know that EVERY SINGLE person accused by McCarthy as being members of Communist organizations have been proven since the downfall of the soviet union as being true.

    NOT one person was not.
If you don’t know this, you just haven’t been reading.

    Frenchy

Your French-envy is pathological, passe’ one.

Referring to you as French: AIN’T a compliment.

You would just love to substitute several hundred French
lives for some of the hapless US soldiers’ lives lost, but the French
were wiser than you would have them be-too wise to follow
    Bush to disaster.

No. I wouldn’t. First there are no hapless US soldiers in Iraq.

    They(French) weren’t wise, they are chicken*hit.

Talking about reading comprehension, I didn’t say Newsweek was equivalent to. I said they ARE one.

    PROGRESSIVE = FORMER COMMUNISTS.

As you well know, to avoid the stigma of being called communists when it was unpopular back in the ’50s and ’60s they changed their name to Progressive. Newsweek proudly proclaims they are Progressive. Surely you knew that, since you drink KoolAid regularly.

  7. Job Numbers Remain Strong…

Many on the left would like to see the November elections be based on sex scandals, but in actuality the American people will vote because of things like this; Job Numbers, Gas Prices and National Security.

The French in their history have fought ,in toto, MORE nobly and for Higher Culture than the mere neophyte colonial and now crime-ridden land of hip hop gutter subculture where the youth emulate the prison garb and lingo of the most primitve elements of society–not just ours, of any society. FE prefers rap music to Debussey & Coca-Cola & McDonalds to chauteaubriand…and wants it foisted on the world, such as good “conservative” he is. Unfortunately the conservatives of Arabia, Iran and the balance of the world beg to differ.
