Democrat Staffer Supected In Leak Classified Information To NY Times

Published by at 10:28 pm under All General Discussions,FISA-NSA

This is big news. It seems a Democrat Staffer on the House Intelligence Committee is under suspicion of leaking classified information to the NY Times.

ouse Intelligence Chairman Peter Hoekstra has suspended a Democratic staff member because of concerns he may have leaked a high-level intelligence assessment to The New York Times last month.

A spokesman to Hoekstra, Jamal Ware, confirmed that a committee staff member was suspended this week. He said the staff member is being denied access to classified information pending the outcome of a review.

“Chairman Hoekstra considers security highly important, and the coincidence certainly merits a review,” he said.

An aide to California Rep. Jane Harman (news, bio, voting record), the committee’s top Democrat, did not have an immediate comment Thursday night.

This illustrates to what lengths the Democrats will go to try and get power. Their obsession with power has allowed them to rationalize breaking critical national security laws and tipping our hands to our enemies, all so they can cripple this President and win elections. This is much more serious than sick emails to a Page. This kind of activity that over the past year has tipped off our enemies on how to avoid detection, even making the leaked intel information fodder for terrorist handbooks. This can kill people by helping terrorists get past our defenses (the same defenses Dems want dismantled if they win control of Congress)

Update: The Democrats are circling the wagons, because image is more important than protecting our national security information.

The Intelligence Committee’s top Democrat, Jane Harman of California, wrote to Hoekstra that she was “appalled” by his action, which was “without basis.”

“I demand that you immediately reinstate the staffer’s access to classified information,” she said.

A conference call to the committee’s nine Democrats on Wednesday to inform them of the aide’s suspension prompted outrage, said two congressional officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly about internal committee business.

Personally, the staffer should be suspended pending a review. The Democrats should stop worrying about how this incident reflects on them. But they will do anything to win votes.

If other leaks have been determined to have come from Congress, then I think any one in DOD or CIA is justified inlying to Congress if they feel it is necessary to protect classified information.

Also, per Gateway Pundit (h/t Anchoress)…

How do one Democratic staffer’s actions mean that “the Democrats” will go to any lengths to get power? This is hysterical.

    sgerber,

If leaking national intel is a valid method to tar the Dem’s enemies, then that means anything goes. Since Harmon is defending the person without any facts, then she is willing to risk a lot.

    …..

AND Ms Harman has unilaterally released a independent assessment concerning disgraced congressman Duke Cunningham by trying to STILL involve him and Republicans in contract deals/scandals. Um, Jane…Duke Cunningham is not running for office. He’s serving time already. Are we to believe that this is (A) news and (B) relevant to the intel committee business and (C) not politcally motivated? BULL!

So much for NOT using national intel assessments for political purposes…and by a person WHO KNOWS BETTER!!!
