Talent Holding In MO, Just Like 2004

In a poll out today Jim Talent is in the same position he was a year ago:

After all their ads, attacks and debates, Missouri’s two major candidates for the U.S. Senate are heading into the campaign homestretch in roughly the same spot as they were almost a year ago — deadlocked.

U.S. Sen. Jim Talent, a Republican, and his Democratic rival, state Auditor Claire McCaskill, also are finding their battle increasingly entwined with the fight over Amendment 2, the ballot proposal to protect all forms of stem cell research allowed under federal law.

The latest Research 2000 poll conducted for the Post-Dispatch and KMOV (Channel 4) found voters evenly split over whether to re-elect Talent or replace him with McCaskill. That’s little different from earlier polls.

Of the 800 voters polled last week, 47 percent favored Talent and 47 percent preferred McCaskill. Two percent supported Libertarian Frank Gilmour, and 4 percent were undecided.

This just about the same position polls showed when Talent went up against Gene Carnahan in the special election to fill out the remaining period of Mrs. Carnahan’s husband’s term (he won the election after passing away, she was appointed to his seat for four years). Right before the 2004 election a poll came out showing it 47-46 Talent.

There used to be two newspapers in St. Louis; The Post Dispatch and the Globe Democrat. The Post bought out the Globe and is one of the most left leaning publications in the U.S. I know. I cut my teeth on them.
I would like to see the demographics of the Post’s poll. But then, remember, St. Louis is heavily Dem and ACORN is doing it’s best (be registering people from Illinois using St. Louis addresses) to tilt the election in favor of McCaskill.
I predict St. Louis will carry McCaskill but I don’t think she will carry Kansas City. It starts to get pretty red over thataway.

Talent will win. Not sure the spread but i have a feeling it may not be close, like the polls say they are.

Talent responded well with his add debunking M-Fox add. McKLASS-KILL is been outed by the KC star for false adds against Talent. I dont think she will be considered a viable senator. Plus i feel that Rush re-solidified the repub base with the Fox add. He spent almost a week on it. Regardless of our differences on SCNT ethics and whats real and isnt. Rush knows how to get the voters out.
