Democrats Spending Like Drunken Sailors

Published by at 8:16 am under 2006 Elections,All General Discussions

No insult intended on the brave men and women of our Navy from the title, but the old saying from history was all I could envision from the news the Democrats are spending their marginal remaining money in wasted efforts to decieve the media (easy – look who ran the stories) and therefore the country (not going to work). First we see all these reports that the Reps hold a massive edge in funds on hand as we go into this last full week of campaigning:

Nevertheless, the Democrats’ last-minute fundraising surge was not enough to overcome the GOP’s earlier fundraising advantage. The three national Republican Party committees had $17 million more cash on hand than their Democratic counterparts as of Oct. 18, according to this week’s financial reports.

The Democratic National Committee said it collected $10.2 million and spent $13.6 million during the first 18 days of this month. It had $4.8 million in cash as well as $4 million in debt.

The Republican National Committee reported raising $8.4 million and spending $12.9 million during the period. Its cash on hand: $21.8 million.

So where did the Democrats spend their money? In some lame attempt to do a head fake, they went into strong red states and piddled it away:

There are two ways to interpret this latest effort by Democrats to stretch the map. The first is the party had some extra money to spend and wanted to further rattle Republican House strategists who are putting out fires everywhere these days. The truth is, television advertising in Kansas isn’t particularly expensive, so it’s not exactly the biggest gamble in the world.

The second, though, is that Democrats, like Republicans, are almost constantly polling these days in search of newly endangered Republicans (or, respectively, for that matter, Democrats) and may have really found the kind of targets that always pop up at the end of a campaign.

The Democrats are in a position to lose MD and NJ Senate seats and the number of endangered House races is actually shrinking as Reps come home. Yes. many races are tightening – they always do. And since the always do, one can only assume the Democrats are chasing ghostly fantasies. The truth is, if there was a huge anti Iraq War, anti Incumbent wave it would have been felt first and strongest in deep blue CT. Joe Lieberman is, in the minds of many lefties, a traitorous democrat for being such a strong defender of the Iraq War and Israel. So if this mood was sweeping the left and the middle (the latter of which makes up the largest voter block in CT), then Lieberman would at least be in a tight race – not cruising like he is now in a three way race.

Leave it to the dems to actually fall for their own propaganda. No wonder the far left believes Al Qaeda will not win anything if we surrender Iraq. They truly are that naive.

I received a call last night – said it was a survey & it would be quick, so I agreed to do (normally don’t). Turned out, it was probably a poll – Steele vs. Cardin. Most of the questions were slanted to the left – do yo think Steele will be a rubber stamp for Bush, etc.?, I started top ask questions like “why don’t you ask if I think Cardin would be a rubber stamp for the Democrats”.

In summary, I told them I always vote – always. And I was voting for MD’s next Senator – Michael Steele.

  2. Terrye says:

I got some fancy pants stuff in the mail from Demcorats. Glossy, expensive dishonest.

One of them was a huge flyer, it was a picture of a humvee in sand with the word ABANDONED in caps across the top.

The point? Hostettler has abandoned our Iraqi veterans by refusing to give them adequate health care. No explanation as to how he has done this or the number and name of the bill he supposedly did not vote for that left all these soldiers to die or whatever..but it was obviously an expensive flyer.

  3. MerlinOS2 says:

Don’t worry AJ us ex sewer pipe submarine sailors are a thick skinned bunch.

    No offense taken.

Remember Submarine sailors do it deeper!

  4. For Enforcement says:

As an ex sailor, we are proud of our reputation. It takes a lot of spending to reach the correct stage of Drunken.

  5. Mark78 says:

al Qaeda leader in Iraq working to unseat Republicans in upcoming election?

  6. For Enforcement says:

Right now they see the easiest path to victory in Iraq as electing cowards, uh, I mean Democrats in the US. They know that in addition to the Dems measuring the drapes, they are also getting together a large supply of white flags.

  7. Ken says:

Notice first, Strata’s wordweaving here…”the far left believes
Al Qaeda will not win …anything… if we surrender Iraq.”

In all former references of the recent past, Strata has phrased it
“surrender Iraq to al Qaeda,” inferring an exit would bring
al Qaeda RULE in Iraq-when Strata, in fact is as naeive as the “far left” if he so believes, which he doesn’t, so he now says “anything.”

Marx78’s Telgraph story fails to prove, or even attempt to prove,
that whatever increased violence in October in Iraq emanated from
al Qaeda’s sector of the resistance, which is dominant native
    Iraq Sunni nationalist and Baathist.

  8. For Enforcement says:

Ken, do you realize that you used 3 paragraphs to say nothing.

It’s clear from what you said that you didn’t understand the original post. You should re-read it, then revise your comment.

  9. Barbara says:

Ken keeps harping on us leaving Iraq…illegal war, etc. It is absolutely amazing how someone can predict from thin air or from a rigid mindset how Iraq wwould go if we “deployed” . Even if all you have to read about the situation is the newspapers you have to know better than that. That Al Quaeda would not win but the insurgents would. The insurgents would not have a chance. If we left Iraq it would be a bloodbath and the Sunnis are stupid to want us to go. As soon as we were gone the Shia would eliminate as many Sunnis as they could and it would be a lot because there are so many more of the Shia. Actually, it has already started with the different militias. There are centuries old bitterness between these two factions. Also the Kurds are not fond of the Sunnis either and would get their licks in. It would turn into two separate countries and then Al Quaeda would take overwhat’s left of the Shia and Sunni part. Or else this part would be taken over by Iran and the Kurds would form a country of Kurdestan with other Kurdish tribes and we would have trouble with Turkey. The Sunnis would become a minority (whats left of them) in both countries. The signs are there already. The problem is that these people will not be stopped by PC. They couldn’t care less about PC. They will kill each other in the cruelest way they can. It is really sickening that the liberals want this to happen. That they don’t care as long as they regain power in this country. It is also sickening that we are willing to hold back our strength and sacrifice our soldiers so these people will “love” us. They will never love us. They will always envy us for our strength and money and power. Just like the rest of the world. And like the rest of the world think that we want to hold on our grip on their countries because if they were in our place that is exactly what they would do. And if you read history that is exactly what they did.

  10. Limerick says:

Kens entire focus is Israel in the end. It is all about Israel. He wants us to loose in Iraq as a basis for abandonment of Israel.

He has NEVER studied the formation of Israel. He has no concept of the historical facts. He has never allowed himself to discover the history.

His ‘campaign’ is to turn America against Israel. It is his mission in life. He is willing to sell out America to realize his goal of ‘throwing the Jews into the sea’.

He rants, and pants, and spews his hatred. Ken wants America demoralized. Ken wants America to sit on it’s hands while Ken’s hated people are exterminated…..every last one of them.

Ken I have one last thing for you: Mohammed Said Haj Amin el Husseini, the Mufti of Jerusalem. You ought to get to know him Ken. After all it was your French government who allowed him to escape the Nuremburg trials so he could spread his hatred so far and wide over the middle-east.

He is just like you Ken. A Nazi collaborator.

  11. Ken says:

Limerick….Gee, I didn’t know there was a Nazi government around to
“collaborate” with, the way FDR collaborated with Red Joe Stalin,
    his good buddy.

Israel was founded with the introduction of terror into the
Middle East, eg the Irgun Squad and Stern Gang, and the elimination of hundreds of Palestinian villages. I will link a definitive history,
“Encyclopedia of the Palestinian Problem” by Nakleh, a Christian
    Palestinian historian.

As Phillip Zelikow, a 9/11 Bush official admitted, the US went to war with Iraq largely to protect Israel, which loves us to do its fighting for it.

He said this reason wasn’t featured because it is a hard sell to Americans . Not to Israel-firsters like Limerick, evidently,
whose admiration for this “entangling alliance” Washington warned us to avoid in his “Farewell Address” is diseased.

Barabara says the Sunnis are in trouble if we leave just as they
successfully killed a couple dozen Shia policemen in the heart
    of Shia country, Basra! I have no “favorites” between the two;
the reality is America, as Murtha says ,is powerless and hapless when it comes to containing a civil war.

  12. Limerick says:

Deir Yassin Ken…..that was the massacre. Yes the Irgun/Stern terrorists DID commit that atrocity……which the Israeli government of Ben-Guerion denounced and of which the Israeli government fully cooperated with the United Nations and Red Cross to investigate.

But what about the Mufti Ken?……..what about 1920, 1922, 1934, 1936, 1941-45(in Nazi Germany), the massacre of 167 Jewish worshipers at the Wailing Wall in 1934.

  13. Ken says:

    http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/10/30/AR2006103000662.html

Gee, Limerick important people seem to be “harping” on the
crrent debt the US owes the Middle East if it is to regain respect there.
I don’t read your posts challenging Bush to take action being
demanded by the leadership of the Arab world. It is not concerned with the Nazi era but with ongoing Israeli oppression.

  14. Barbara says:

    Ken

What Israeli oppression are you talking about? I have never seen them attach another county until they are attacked. I suppose you think they should have just ignored the kidnapping and killing of their soldiers on their side of the border, and let Hamas and Hezbollah get away with it. The truth of the matter is that these terrorists organizations attacked Israel on purpose and were astonished that Israel took it so seriously. Well, I was disappointed that Israel let the world media influence their chance to strengthen the safety of their country. When will they learn that there is nothing they can do to appease the media? What they should do is do what they have to do and forget the media. The media will present them to the world as the bad guys no matter what they do.

Also, please tell me when the US fought any battles for Israel. You are letting your bias get the better of your arguement. We have never gone into battle for Israel. On the contrary, we failed to take out Iraq’s nuke plants in the 1980s and Israel had to do it for their own safety. Therefore, it could be said that they went into battle for us.

Another thing, we did not go to war in Iraq largely to aid Israel. This is new theory that has never been mentioned as far as I know. You take a comment from one person in the government and run with it like it is written in stone. This is an opinion of one person not the whole administration. And Israel was not mentioned when congress passed the amendment for the Iraq war.

I still stand by my statement that the Sunnis are endangered. The Shia are held back by the coalition and the desire for national government for the most part. Once the coalition is gone and the Sunnis are still fighting against national government all bets are off.

Tell me, do you ever get dizzy spinning on that top you occupy? It seems you spin in one direction and then in another, never still, throwing out statements that make no sense. Statements that to you sound about right and you post them as true. You would not know the truth if it reared up and bit you. Every post you make is about the Iraq war, Israel or the horrible government we have. It doesn’t make any difference what the subject is, you go back to these three topics. In your eyes there is nothing good about this country, nothing the Israelis do is justified and you hate the US government period.

What would it take to make you happy? The obliteration of Israel, evidently, also the chaos of civil war in Iraq. And what about the government? What kind would you like? A nanny state or maybe an isolitionist state where the rest of the world goes to pot and we sit here and wait for the terrorists to come for us here in this country. They already have camps in South America just waiting to overrun us throught our unprotected borders. So, what would it be? Please tell me. I am curious.

  15. Limerick says:

Ken : Your WaPo article will produce a zero effect on my attitudes toward Bush, Iraq or Israel. I could care less about what the Arabs want the Bush administration to do about ‘Israeli oppression’.

On May 14th, at 16:34hrs, every year, have a bagel on me Ken. Shalom!

  16. Ken says:

Barbara’s ignorance regards Israel’s behavior is typically American.

Israel has been ordered to vacate the illegally occupied West Bank and Samaria by UN resolutions for a generation. As far as Hezbollah’s attack, it could be argued it was partly in response to Israeli holding of more than a thousand Palestinian prisoners, again , against UN
    opinion.

It is very telling when Arab and Moslem political leadership
Sunni and Shia, religious and secular, repeatedly advises the American government– and American people through the media –from what the chief sources of animosity toward it derive,
only to have their concerns ignored and rejected by such as
Barabara and Limerick…even after 9/11 and the Iraq quagmire
should be clear harbingers as to what awaits if US policy isn’t modified.

  17. Limerick says:

Gee if it wasn’t for Israel Ken’s whole world would be a peace. There would be no jihad, no headless Americans, no burning cars in French cities, no problem with sewers in Baghdad, no planes crashing into buildings. Israel, Israel, Israel, …..it’s all the Jews you see…….all those Jews……..Kens nightmares are filled with Jews…..

  18. Ken says:

Better listen to your Saudi teachers, rhyme without reason.

  19. Barbara says:

    Ken,

So, according to you if we would just listen to the Islamists regarding our foreign policy we would be all right? If we would only do what they want us to do everything would be fine. Our very lives and liberty are at stake and you want us to listen to our enemies and do what they want us to. I doubt you are a lefty or a righty or even an American. Maybe French. They are idiots too. I think you are an Islamist because of the virulent hatred you have for the Israelis and the vicious hatred you have with the US for being in Iraq. It surpasses the opinions of the left and leaves them in the dust. But, then again, you are just as disengenuous as they are. Besides you gave yourself away when you said my comments were typically American. No American would make that statement.

As far as the UN resolutions to leave the West Bank and Samaria (adn when was Samaria ever mentioned) please post them. I would like to see them. I doubt the US voted for this and if we did not there are no resolutions because of our veto. In all the diatribes against Israel I have never heard of resolutions against Israel. But then I notice you say nothing about Syria occupying Lebanon and they were told to leave for years. The truth of the matter is that the UN is toothless and a joke. They are pro Arab and anti Israel and anti US. They take our money (we throw billions down the toilet to this group) and they trash us. There must be some reason why we are still a member of this organization but the why totally escapes me. I am all for getting the US out of the UN and the UN out of this country. We have subsidized this group too long and it should go the way of the League of Nations.
