Gang Of 14 Will Ride Again
I just don’t get the Republican anger at Republicans. Hannity had the best attitude of anyone I have seen yet. He rightly said you cannot win all the time and there is a chance now to refine the conservative approach. Well, let’s hope others listen to him – but so far he seems a lone voice. Rush decided to blame the Gang Of 14 for slowing down judges being confirmed. Actually, he later exposed his real frustration – the veto was left in place. Personally I think there may be a day when we have a serioue problem and we will want that veto. So the fact that lots of good conservative judges and two justices have been seated is all I need to know about the Gang Of 14.
And I look forward to seeing what they can do in the next Congress. I am not sure what the number will be (DeWine lost in OH), but almost all of them are still there. Lieberman increases their clout immensely.
So while the right throws insults at its centrist ex-allies, and the left is embroiled in a civil war (netroots-Dean vs Clintonistas-DLC) I think the American people will embrace the Gang Of 14 and marvel at their progress.
If I was a democrat I don’t know who I would root for in the internal was in the democrat party. Both sides are scumbags. But maybe that is just my opinion as someone who really, really, really dislikes the democrat party.
As I said in an earlier post there are too many convoluted rules in congress and the ability of 14 senatory (7 from each party) to suborn the whole senate is insane. And the ability of the minor party to stop issues from coming to the floor is also insane. The whole concept of democracy is the majority wins and how can the majority win if a bill can’t get to the floor.
