Seems the Democrats are on something of a self destruction path with the American voters. Nancy Pelosi made one of the dumbest comments any politician has made in a decade when she went into her full Neville Chamberlain mode and claimed there were no Al Qaeda in Iraq. Not only are Al Qaeda in Iraq, they claim Iraq the central field of battle in their Jihad against the West. Not to mention the capitol city for the modern Caliphate they want to create is dead center in Iraq and is the city of Ramadi. Talk about your blindered pol! See no evil, Nancy?

And is it any surprise the party which opposes the Patriot Act, monitoring communications of a person in the US with KNOWN terrorists by the NSA (leads from which are then passed to the FBI for investigation and, if a threat, a FISA Court warrant for full monitoring of the US person), the monitoring of terrorist money transfers to detect attacks in the West, and which opposes any military confrontation whatsoever is now going to ignore the 9-11 commission recommendations? Of course they are! Everything I listed previously is in some way an element of 9-11 recommendations! Welcome to the duplicity that is Washington America. I must remind folks Bush was the exception to this swamp – he says what he means and does what he says. Congress is chock full (on both sides of the aisle) of folks who are polar opposites to Bush. The pliant and gullible media is the group which will be most shocked by these kinds of revelations.

The Bush economy is still chugging along nicely. Which will give the Democrats little pause to try and push legislation to screw it up. They are rapidly finding they have little they can do because one motto America does still believe in is “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”.

The Bush prescription drug plan for medicare has been a huge success and has lowered the cost of health support to seniors (as he said it would). And now medicare part B preimiums are going to be tied to income so America doesn’t subsidize the rich. This has to just frustrate the Democrats no end since removes another one of their “Robin Hood” fantasies.

And that Iraq Survey Group proposals? I am not even going to link to an article. If they propose withdrawal they need to guarantee such an act will not embolden Al Qaeda and give them the resource and skilled work force and the base of operations they need to begin their takeover of the regions of their desired modern Caliphate. We need assurances that a withdrawal will not lead terrorists into Europe and here to America and will not lead to Isreal’s destruction. No proposal for surrender will be considered without such assurances. Period. Oh, and just a reminder to Baker and the Dems and the Liberal media – Bush is President (thankfully) and you folks are not.

  2. The Problems of Winning and Election…

Now, the Dems are expected to actually keep those promises they made before the election and they are already failing dismally in the eyes of the public. Nancy’s Murtha fiasco was just the tip of the iceberg, the first sign that the Dems that won, ha….

There is a big difference from being confused (by the Bush
Administration’s years-long lying about the subject)
as Pelosi was, and being bold liars. “See the evil” AJ?

What chutzpah from a guy whose hero brought al Qaeda to Iraq!
Did you ask for any guarantees from Bush before the war
    his invasion wouldn’t do this?

Retort to Strata’s defense of the police state above:

“One more time: the principal problem with the President’s warrantless eavesdropping is not that he is abusing the secret eavesdropping powers he seized (that is something we do not yet know, because the Congress has not yet investigated that question). Instead, the “problem” is that the President is engaging in the very conduct which the American people, through their Congress almost 30 years ago, made it a felony to engage in, punishable by up to five years in prison — that is, eavesdropping on Americans without judicial oversight.”

    Kudos to Glenn Greenwald.

    From Captain’s Quarters…

After a delay of more than a year, a government board appointed to guard Americans’ privacy and civil liberties during the war on terror has been told the inner workings of the government’s electronic eavesdropping program.
Members say they were impressed by the protections. …

Board members said that they were impressed by the safeguards the government has built into the NSA’s monitoring of phone calls and computer transmissions, and that they wished the administration could tell the public more about them to ease distrust.

“If the American public, especially civil libertarians like myself, could be more informed about how careful the government is to protect our privacy while still protecting us from attacks, we’d be more reassured,” said Lanny Davis , a former Clinton White House lawyer who is the board’s lone liberal Democrat.

Just a bit of information for Ken and his friends on the left.. please remember that whatever powers are given to the President in the constitution cannot be taken away by Congress or the Judiciary.

Here’s a definition EVERYONE should remember:

Lying. The act that is taking place if you see the lips moving on a Democrat.

Origin of this definition: Bill Clinton, during his presidency.

Jacqui, and, an important point of what is granted to the Pres in the constitution is conducting foreign policy. It is left solely to the Pres.

Glen Greenwald doesn’t know what he’s talking about & we all know about K. Plenty in congress have the clearances and know what’s going on, and what a key tool it is, as well as within the constitution. What’s not constitutoinal, frankly absurd, is having the courts as oversight to the military (and the commander in chief) in waging war.
And still waiting to hear one lie Bush told about Iraq.

  10. What a shock: The New Direction Democrats take the same old direction: Lying and breaking promises…

Pelosi continues to impress the hell out of me.  not only has her authority and effectiveness been trashed before even swearing in as Speaker, but so has her truthfulness, and that of her fellow democrats.

You can go to afterdowningstreet.org for a host of them.
As about 60% of the public correctly believes, the percentage
growing from the low 40s steadily since the release of the
    Kay Report.

Whether Bush himself convinced himself to believe Saddam
had WMDs is irrelevant. He cherrypicked a wide array of
contrasting intelligence and presented it to the people as
indicting Hussein. He suppressed intelligence which exonerated
Hussein and chose to believe/decided to use intelligence
provided by those he was warned were unrealible.

This is not to deny certain agents submitted what they knew to be
dubious, buckling under pressure from Cheney and
others, as agent Ray McGovern (check his many columns)
    has said.

Bush couldn’t have lied, he’s not a Democrat.
