Way Too Much Time On Their Hands
Someone has way too much time on their hands if they think warnings on clothes for over weight people is something governments should invest in. Being overweight is a known danger people struggle with. Being a nag will not help one single person deal with the problem. The people behind this should be sacked. They are wasting time and money better spent elsewhere.
“Again, fat people can have health insurance. IF THEY BELONG TO A WORKFORCE THAT’S GREATER THAN 15 PEOPLE. ”
There are ways of getting around that in some locations. There are groups that operate almost as coops where several businesses will go in together for insurance. Also, I know that individual insurance is available at a reasonable rate. It is a little over $200 a month where I live for a single person in their early 40’s through Kaiser Parmanente. Rather than get a group rate, her employer could simply agree to pay her individual health coverage. She just gives them the bill every month and they write the check and mail it in. There are some benefits to that in any case. If she leaves that job, she keeps her healthcare and can take it to a new employer and there are never any “pre-existing conditions” problems.
Having your own insurance isn’t all that bad in some ways.
Large folk simply need more exercise.
Beating good sense and good manners into these nanny-state twits is an excellent exercise.
Off topic but WOW:
Cross Patch, It’s possible Bob Barr lost his 7th-tme-around-election to the HOUSE, because he was a leader in the gang that went after Clinton?
Since it didn’t win points for the republicans. It didn’t put Gore in the White House (early). It’s possible that what motivates voters has something to do with “liking” and “not liking” what people IN office do with their powers.
I doubt if the Libertarian Party is gonna sail ahead of the “other two.”
But if you’re being off topic because you think Bob Barr discovered some sort of “posturing gold” to run again, ahead, without the GOP label. I’m just not so sure Bob Barr affects FATE all that much, ahead. Some things will just remain uncertain. Until they emerge to see the light of day. That Clinton impeachment “thing” was bizarre.
No Carol. What was bizarre was the support the dems gave Clinton. Anyone else who lied to a grand jury would have been in heaps of trouble, but not Clinton. The dems said it was all about sex but it wasn’t. It was about lying to the authorities. Look at Martha Stewart, for example, she did not even lie in court, but was jailed. No, Clinton proved he was above the law and should have been impeached. But the dems like sleazy people. In fact, I doubt if they know what to do with any other kind.
However, all that said, I will concede the Supreme Court made a bad decision among many bad decisions when they said the Paula Jones case could go forward with Clinton still in office. It should have been postponed until he was out office. It would have saved the country a lot of grief and he could not have used his power to escape his punishment.
well, Barbara, while we’re floating here, off topic. Clinton, “if the Supreme-O’s” postponed Paula Jones shot till “afta” Bubba left office, he could’a pardoned himself. END OF PARODY.
On the other hand, it was LAWYERS who asked “trick questons,” under oath. And, nobody whose got their wits about them trusts lawyers as far as you can spit. WHILRE you’re wearing a surgical mask.
Clinton will be judged, ahead, as a CENTRIST. And, a DEFICIT HAWK. Unlike what you’d think would happen if you just followed party “labels.”
Labels? I always cut them out of my garments.
And, Bush #43 tossed good economic advice overboard, early in the year 2000. Prices to pay? Ahead. And, yes. The record of debt will accummulate. So that it can be viewed. Then? Well, he threw a lot of other stuff overboard. While at the same time, he seemed to be signally his “fwends” in Saudi Arabia that they could pick up some real estate, real cheap.
I happen to think lots of patriots get elected to government. Even if some are saddle with law degrees. It obviously can be crap that you can discard. When the stakes are high. And, Americans are looking for the CENTER. The man who will represent us IN THE MIDDLE.
I’ve noticed that Joe Lieberman AND John McCain have traveled together to Iraq. And, since I remember Nixon’s last two years in office (and he was a prince in comparison to either Bush, or Jimmy Carter), I expect the Congress will fill in the gaps.
You elect people who do harm, well, it’s like having Ken Lay as your CEO. There are no bailouts. And, there are no parachutes. Just history.
Fat people, meanwhile gain weight at faster clips than others do. Because metapolism is part of the process. Can’t imagine that the “nanny state” solves anything. Let alone other than needing a scissor to cut the stinking labels and price tags off of purchased garments.
Let alone how many poor people shop at the Salvation Army stores! Will the labels be like those on mattresses? The government will punish us if we remove them? Do people go to DC and lose their brains? Maybe, we should tattoo their foreheads, instead?
Metabolism plays a part, but mostly it’s differences in appetite control that lead to weight gain. If you look at it – most thin people eat small amounts and move a lot and most fat people eat a lot. It’s just really simple. In the future, people who have a tendency to obesity will soon have a choice – the bitter pill (the anti-pot pill) or obesity? And the lucky (or risk-taking) ones will find the short cuts through illegal drugs, I suppose.
Carol
I don’t believe that pardoning himself would have held up..Besides this was a civil suit and the president can’t pardon anyone in a civil suit only in a criminal suit.
