Leftwing Idiocy On Terrorism

Published by at 1:29 pm under All General Discussions,Bin Laden/GWOT

The leftward fever swamps are an endless source of idiotic statements and conclusions. Included in the leftward swamps it the Council on Foreign Relations – which also could be called the Council on Fantasy Realities. Anyone who has the slightest knowledge of news and history would realize Somalia has not been a nation welcoming of the US – or anything even resembling a ‘civilized society’. The Black Hawk down incident in the Clinton years was probably the most famous example of Somalia’s brutality. But it is safe to say the country in no way resembles the best of mankind. So when a CFR loon reports that Somalia is a hotbed of anti Americanism I take that news with a sense of pride (not to mention a sense of wonder someone so detached from reality could actully function day to day):

The U.S. foreign policy blundering has created a new violent hotbed of anti-Americanism in the turbulent Horn of Africa by orchestrating the Ethiopian invasion of another Muslim capital of the Arab League, in a clear American message that no Arab or Muslim metropolitan has impunity unless it falls into step with the U.S. vital regional interests.

The U.S.-backed Ethiopian invasion of the Somali capital, Mogadishu, on Dec. 28 is closely interlinked in motivation, methods, goals and results to the U.S. bogged down regional blunders in Iraq, Lebanon, Syria and Sudan as well as in Iran and Afghanistan, but mainly in the Israeli-occupied Palestinian territories.

Yeah right. Before Ethopia sent the animals running Somalia was a hotbed of love and understanding and partnership with America. Seems the left has had to go tap the dregs for the propaganda these days. Read the whole idiotic rambling piece. It is stunning. Basically it says the Islamo Facists lost and it is all America’s fault. Hear, hear! And I should note the defenders of Bin Laden claim this defeat of Al Qaeda sympathizers is part of a bigger pattern:

Mogadishu is the third Arab metropolitan after Jerusalem and Baghdad to fall to the U.S. imperial drive, either directly or indirectly through Israeli, Ethiopian or other proxies…

So the US did chase the supporters of the Islamo Facsists (who were clearly in control of Mogadishu) out of Baghdad. Good to hear at least the enemy believes they lost Baghdad (now under elected Arab Muslim governance) to the forces of evil (which on our side would be the forces of good). Even if the Democrats don’t get it, what is important is the Islamo Fascists get it. But the Dems better take note of one thing, these fascist ‘true believers’ (to be a bit redundant) make clear their intentions:

The UIC leaders who went underground are promising guerilla and urban warfare; “terrorist” tactics are their expected major weapon and American targets are linked to the Ethiopian invasion. It doesn’t need much speculation to conclude that the Bush Administration’s policy in the Horn of Africa is threatening American lives as well as the regional stability.

That statement is an act of war and a clear threat. This is what the left has wrought with their obsession with congressional power. The CFR is referrenced as a validating source in this threat of retaliation. It should be noted who the enemies of this nation consider their allies.

I read that there has not been a functioning police force in Mogadishu since 1991. And I also hear there was dancing in the streets of Somalia when the Islamists were gone.

It seems it is shocking to some people to hear that people do not like to be terrorized by crazy people who lob off their heads for playing music. Imagine that.

In fact when Clinton sent in the Rangers it was because war lords were killing UN humanitarian workers and hoarding food. It was not about imperialism. But then again maybe some folks think that anything other than sitting there with your thumb up your butt and watching people is imperialism.

I made the comment in an earlier post that the press would downplay or spin any accomplishment of Bush’s and make it look like nothing but they have outdone themselves. To state that the Islamists had a right to overthrow the government of Somalia and deserved to stay in charge even if they in turn were overthrown with US help is pure liberal bs. They forget in their hatred of Bush that we are fighting a GWOT and that means all over the world not just in Iraq. If we can get the people of these countries to fight the Islamists themselves so much the better. This is a great accomplishment and a great victory and the press are spinning it like it is unfair and devious. BDS is alive and well. I expect it to continue until 2008 and if a republican wins the presidency then he will become Hitler#2.

    This passage doesn’t make sense:

“in a clear American message that no Arab or Muslim metropolitan has impunity unless it falls into step with the U.S. vital regional interests.”

Shouldn’t the words be metropolis and immunity?

  4. upyernoz says:

is there a reason that you’re conflating the UIC in somalia with terrorists? not all islamic groups are terrorists, you know.

oh, and i think it’s funny when people cheering ethiopia bring up the “black hawk down” incident. you guys know that the warlords who were behind that incident now make up the “transitional government of somalia” that ethiopia is supporting, right? you’re cheering a return to power of the same people who led the militias that attacked u.s. troops. such is the problem when you view everything through the simplistic white hat-black hat lense.

    up:

These people were lobbing the heads off of other people because they failed to pray often enough. They were tied to AlQaida. The last time the world ignored AlQaida it started a frigging war

It is pretty damn pathetic when a bunch of head hacking terrorists get run out of a country by people in the region, but because it is perceived that maybe just maybe the US might have supported the move, then here comes someone like you cheering on the terrorists.

    That is pathetic.

  6. upyernoz says:

These people were lobbing the heads off of other people because they failed to pray often enough.

true, some were doing that kind of thing (i’m not sure if they actually executed anyone for not praying. that’s actually not the penalty under shariah, but i’m not gonna quibble over that detail), but there were also others who were not so radical

as for the islamist court’s ties to al qaeda, that is hardly very clear. at least it wasn’t until ethiopia intervened, then at that point they turned for assistance to the wider islamic world–including to al qaeda.

there have long been places in somalia that have long been had al qaeda people there. they thrive in the chaos of a failed state. the islamists were actually imposing order and initially reached out to the u.s. to talk about how do deal with some of the cells there. the u.s. refused to talk and decided to fund the warlords instead (the same warlords who sheltered al qaeda in the 1990s and who attacked u.s. troops).

we made our choice. it just doesn’t mean it was a particularly smart one. nor is it smart to overgeneralize and treat everyone who cites islam as an inspiration for a movement as if they are al qaeda. in the muslim world, “islamist” does not always imply violent or like the taliban. it sometimes just means “not corrupt.” it’s a mistake if our country automatically rejects any movement that uses islam and mindlessly lumps them together with terrorists

“not all islamic groups are terrorists, you know”

No, I didn’t know that, would you care to enlight me, on how one would know that. Or should we just take your word for it.

As I have said before the libs have BDS so bad they will believe anything that is said about Bush and Cheney too. Upyernoz, Robert Lewis, Gil (all Ken and probably others as well) prove this every time they post. I doubt they believe all this garbage. They just want to pull our chains to see how we respond to their outrageous retoric. The best thing we can do is ignore all their posts. Just scroll through as if they are not there and maybe they will evenually go away. There is nothing more fruitless than arguing with a liberal. I have said I would scroll through Ken’s rants but got suckered into a fight with him. This time no matter what they say I will not respond after this.

    barbara:

They are not liberals in the sense of let’s say civil rights movement liberals, they are just morons.

  10. upyernoz says:

    barbara,

please explain why you think what i wrote above means that i ” have BDS so bad they will believe anything that is said about Bush and Cheney too.” what did i get wrong about bush and cheney above? i believe i didn’t even mention them.

also please explain what specifically i wrote that qualifies as “outrageous retoric” (sic)

    as for this:

Just scroll through as if they are not there and maybe they will evenually go away. There is nothing more fruitless than arguing with a liberal. I have said I would scroll through Ken’s rants but got suckered into a fight with him. This time no matter what they say I will not respond after this.

it must be very convenient for you to ignore anyone who disagrees with you.

    terrye,

please explain what i wrote above that makes you believe i am a “moron.” i would appreciate it if you explain what i got wrong rather than resort to name calling. thanks!

    strata,

i wrote a prior comment and it still has not appeared here. why is that? last year you told me “you are free to post here” so long as i “keep it civil.” i think i have. please let me know if i went overboard with the censored comment so that i know what to avoid in the future.

  11. upyernoz says:

i see that my second comment has now appeared. thanks strata!

Well, we’re going to find out Wednesday nite. 9:00 PM Eastern. When the President addresses the nation. And, Drudge is running a headline, now, that a “big stink” has enveloped New York City. Could it be just “a gas leak from Bleeker Street?”

Supposedly, in August, Queens got wrapped in stink, as well.

And, Americans ARE alert! You can tell this stuff makes people nervous.

As to the donks, all we see are the old liberal media, treating the recent election as if “they” won. When, in fact, to run and win, democraps adopted Blue Dog capes.

I’ll take a guess. The “news” is propagandized. And, pretty much meaningless. While, if the president is about to address the nation, what will follow will be “voting.” And, then you’ll know. IF the “Blue Dog” thing-y, run to win an election, was nothing but a disguise.

Otherwise? He who counts votes best, wins. Lott. Or Reid. And, the media may come in last, AGAIN? People are staying tuned in.

  13. robert lewis says:

Can someone tell me exactly what Terrye means by lobbinga head off – I mean – I understandlopping means

to trim; to remove as by cutting off

    and I know lob means

to toss or hit (as a ball) something a high curve

as in Faux News “lobbed some softball questions” to the President in Brit Hume’s recent interviews . . .

But does Terrye imagine those head are being so neatly cut off that they inscribe a high soft arc?

If you don’t know the right word – look it up.

Note toBarbara: It must be terrible being surround by dissenting thinkers all of whom are apparently the Evil Ken – Lord of Chaos. Rush’s solution when he was so overcome was to pop an Oxycontin!

  14. And if there were trains, they would have run on time. (UPDATED)…

Writing in the Times of London, columnist Martin Fletcher would like you to quit being so deuced smug about the routing of Somalia’s Union of Islamist Courts. After all, just like the Taliban did for Afghanistan, they brought order and……
