Savage Idiocy On MLK Day

Published by at 11:08 am under All General Discussions,Illegal Immigration

Michael Savage is one of the biggest buffoons on the planet. So while I am testing the patience of my conservative readers on immigration, let me go ahead and point out what is absolutely wrong with elements of the political right – they are mean and ugly and unworthy of being included in the Reagan and Bush conservatism (which is apparently very different from Republican Conservatism):

On the January 15 edition of his nationally syndicated radio show, in a monologue about Martin Luther King Day, Michael Savage called “civil rights” a “con” and asserted: “It’s a racket that is used to exploit primarily heterosexual, Christian, white males’ birthright and steal from them what is their birthright and give it to people who didn’t qualify for it.” Savage then said, “Take a guess out of whose hide all of these rights are coming. … [T]here is only one group that is targeted, and that group are white, heterosexual males.” He added: “They are the new witches being hunted by the illiberal left using the guise of civil rights and fairness to women and whatnot.”

“Birthright”?. How Aryian Nation of Savage to claim white males have some sort of special birthright. First off, MLK gave this country a historic gift, he helped eliminate racial prejudice – he deserves to be honored as a great American. I agree that some civil rights leaders (the old, tired guard still living in the 50’s and 60’s) have a bias and prejudice against whites. Sadly they earned that prejudice at the hands of violent prejudice. So they are still tainted from those days. So what?

We had a truly interesting exercise last night with our two first graders. The twins are in separate classrooms but get similar, if not identical, homework. Last night it was 5 sentences on Martin Luther King and what they wished for America. In a truly funny and enlightening discussion, we finally realized the twins did not understand the fact that people were hated for their skin color. They were looking at the clothes and saying ‘blacks’ were being treated badly for their dark clothes. They exist in completely integrated and internationally represented schools and neighborhoods. We have mixed race couples and couples from every corner of the world. We live in a blessed little corner of the world called Herndon – nationally known for putting limits on support for illegal workers – which illustrates the complexity of that subject. Herndon VA is evenly split politically, but votes conservative. It is proudly diverse and yet is not open to unended illegal immigration. It understands the benefit all these foreign born neighbors bring to our community. And I would bet just about everyone of us would run Savage out of town for his lame, comments.

The ‘birthright’ we have here is not based on gender or race. The civil rights groups that cannot treat everyone equally are part of the remaining race problem – not the solution. Savage would have been fine in saying MLK brought about a wonderful vision of humanity were we are all equal – and that means not punishing whites for acts committed over half a century ago by others. But no, Savage comes off sounding like a skin-head because the guy is as classless as they come. Not to mention the BA major is a pretend tough guy – all gussied up in leather to act butch and tough. Sorry, but the ‘clumsy oaf’ excuse is just not working anymore for me. We deserve more articulate representatives for conservatism – at least my brand.

If the Reps want to be taken serious – dump this clown. Now.

Savage is the kind of idiot that the liberals like to point to as some definition of “conservatives”. I can’t stand the guy and my finger jumps for the tuner instantly when I hear him on a radio station to change the station.

That being said, there is a certain civil rights “industry” that needs to be dismantled. It is in the interests of certain people to keep racial tensions alive in order to justify their power base. If there was racial harmony, people like Sharpton and Jackson and Farakan would lose their power base. It is in their interest to make sure that racism remains alive.

AJ, can we divorec the buchanonites and the savagites and Dobbs?

We really need to stop this. It is putting conservatives back 50 years.

  3. Nelle says:

I can’t stand to listen to Savage either, but having him “out there” keeps Liberals from being able to be very convincing when they point to ordinary conservatives and call them “extremists” . The real “far right” keeps the rest of us somewhere left of extreme.

  4. Taking on D’Souza and D’Savage…

While I have reservations about criticizing a book that I haven’t read, there seems to be plenty of information out there about the arguments put forth in Dinesh D’Souza’s The Enemy At Home: The Cultural Left and Its Responsibility for……

I agreed with Savage many times in the past, but decided to not stick my neck for him any more since he supported financially (with the $ maximum allowed by law!) ex-governor Brown (yes, that liberal lunatic…), in the race for the CA AG, which he won, at the expense of a great guy who would have been an outstanding AG.

I don’t agree with Savage, and I don’t recognize him as being a ‘conservative’ any more than I do Buchanon. Just because they say or imply that they are, does NOT mean that they are. But what he said is no worse than the two Presidential Candidates(nuts) that went to S. Carolina on MLK day and made a racial speech about the confederate flag. Don’t you think MLK would want that kind of small minded crap be put behind us by now. Don’t even remember which two it was but one was Dem and one Rep.
Then Rep Lewis from Ga. making a good speech about MLK until he got to the part where he had to put words in MLK mouth and say that he would be against this war if he were here now. Total Crap.
It’s too bad that all the good work of MLK is being misrepresented now as a reason for reverse racism. There is no way MLK would be for racism, forward or reverse. But I’m not going to be guilty of what those people did, I’m not going to put words in his mouth. But to quote him,” a person should be judged by the content of his character, not the color of his skin.” Amen.
Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, Farrakan, the opposite of MLK in every way.

The two nuts in SC were Biden and Dodd, two Dems.

AJ, On this I beg to differ with you. I know from personal experience that since 1965, the entry level training positions in the high paying technical fields have been closed to white males. My son, one of three top graduates of a major university who applied for a training level job in television was told, “You are exactly what we are looking for but we are under a mandate from the federal government to hire a minority for this position.” He retrieved his application and three weeks later reapplied, marking his race as American Indian and was hired immediately. He was nominated for an Emmy award the first year.

I know personally, and have met, many young white male college graduates who now run Carpet Cleaning, Pet Care, Lawn Service, etc businesses because they could not get a job in their chosen fields. How long has it been since you saw an African American male cutting someone’s lawn? they aren’t doing it any more because they get first choice at all the good jobs. Today, just about the only way a young white man can get a job is to know someone who will hire him or make a job for himself. Most who do have jobs are underemployed.

As for all this non discrimination against whites by blacks in positions of authority, let me cite 3 examples that I know about from persoanl experience. Chrysler Credit hired a black manager for it’s SC office. He in turn hired all black collection agents who would verbally abuse any white person they had reason to call. As a cosigner on a note for a first time car buyer who was late for one payment, I started receiving calls from people who were obviously black, threatening to “Put my white A– in the street.” “To seize my home and sell it” “What will your neighbors think when we have to move your furniture out into the street?” etc. Chrysler Credit was finally busted for illegally repossessing over 3600 cars belonging to white people. Yes, the car I cosigned was one of them. He was two days late on his payment when they came and got the car. Chrysler Credit paid off big time.

Our local hospital hired a black girl to handle the charts of emergency room paitents and call the names of the next paitent. I took my son to the emergency room at 3:30 PM with a broken leg. We were still there at 11 PM when a nurse recognized us as having been there when she came on duty. She stopped and told us that she had moved our chart to the top of the stack, but as soon as she left, the girl called a black person, then another black person. It was then that I realized that only black people were getting treated in the emergency room. We left and drove 40 miles to the next nearest hospital.

A local Wendy’s hired a black manager. He hired two black girls who harrassed and abused any white employee who tried to work there so bad they wouldn’t to go back even to pick up their pay. No white person ever worked under the manager more than one day.

You may think that this is not the norm but I believe it is. I believe black people harbor a deep sesentment and hatred of white people because they have been taught that all white people are evil and all blacks have been abused by all whites in the past. The demonization of whites in our public schools borders on child abuse. Nobody would allow textbooks and teachers to accuse any other ethnic group’s ancestors of genocide, murder, theft etc. as is being done to our white ancestors.

The big question is, Who’s going to pay reparations to the white men who are being held back and discriminated against today? Surely you must know that eventually the chickens are going to come home to roost. You can’t solve one ill by creating another. Affirmative action should be illegal and grouped along with other hate crimes. We have pushed selected minorities to the front of the line for over 50 years in this country. Those that haven’t made it by now, aren’t going to. Hasn’t anyone figured it out, that all this hiring the less than most qualified might have something to do with our losing are competitive edge in world markets.?

  9. dbostan says:

Well, in Silicon Valley it is an open secret that minorities (chinese, indian…) hire only minorities.
You won’t see many blacks in SV.
But the discrimination is the same…

  10. wiley says:

I haven’t read his books, nor listened to him for quite a while — he gets tiresome — but Savage is not the buffoon some think he is. Yeah, he says some shockers that garner him attention & pub (which he likes), but he usually makes sense. As outrageous as that paragraph sounds, it really has merit if you peel it back. IMO, what he’s saying is that 40 years after MLK, the liberals have turned civil rights upside down, inside out. Our country has been “Balkanized” with each minority-victim group getting preference or quotas in many aspects of society. The only group being left out of this “system”, thus being discriminated against, are hetero white males. Hence, what should be every American’s birthright to equality and fair treatment, has now been turned against the HWM in school admissions, jobs, promotions, awards, etc. Now, I don’t believe the situation is that bad, but one would have to be ignorant to deny it exists. I think MLK would be apalled at how his simple yet powerful message has been twisted.

  11. wiley says:

I might add that Savage does not claim to be a Rep, nor do Reps want to claim him.

  12. For Enforcement says:

As I said above MLK’s message was to eliminate prejudice based on race. I think most would agree that is a noble thing.
Wiley is correct in pointing out that what Savage was saying was that has been perverted to ‘reverse racial discrimination’. I think most would agree with that. Savage didn’t say white men have a ‘special’ birthright. He was saying that part of the white man’s birthright has been taken away and given to someone else and that is no more what MLK would have wanted than any form of discrimination.
While I believe that racism, in all forms, is wrong. I do see more racism practiced in the form of discrimination against white men than anyone else. I don’t see how that can be denied. If it is being done to correct for ‘past sins’ then do it against the people that did it in the past, not their decendents.
Let’s just not have any laws that allow discrimination against anyone.
