Global Warming Nonsensical Non-science
What a joke. The ‘scientists’ on the man-made global warming bandwagon have come out with a clear, unwavering, precise declaration of ‘maybe?’:
The most authoritative report on climate change is using the strongest wording ever on the source of global warming, saying it is “very likely” caused by humans and already is leading to killer heat waves and stronger hurricanes, delegates who have seen the report said Thursday.
In other words – they don’t know. In science facts are not ‘very likely‘. They ‘are’ or ‘are not’. It is not very likely gravity exists. If someone was to use that equivocation when jumping off a building they would find there is no ‘likely’ about gravity. The Earth is not When you go to the doctor you are not going to want to hear, despite the cancer you have, you will very likely live. When a heart surgeon is about to open your chest, you don’t want him to say your arteries are very likely clogged and you very likely need a bypass operation. When we fly in a plane we don’t want the pilot to say it is very likely we will land in one piece. Or how about it is very likely we will land at the destination you expected? Or how about your boss saying it is very likely you will get paid this week? These charlatans are diagnosing a supposedly critical problem with the health of our planet and they are attempting to hide the truth of their situation – they don’t know. Their statements today are scientifically irresponsible. You either know or don’t yet know. You do not come out and say ‘we think’ or its ‘very likely‘. It is like saying it is very likely the sun will not come up tomorrow. We have no proof but for those who want to avoid the coming apacolypse maybe you should shoot yourselves now, before you must face the possibiliy of no sun in the morning. It is beyond very likely these people are wrong. After all these years of research and hysterical headlines the fact is they STILL CANNOT back up their Chicken Little screeds with any facts. They don’t know what is causing the warming and how much of this is due to man made sources. No idea. It is not very likely they don’t know what is happening that is the ONLY fact we have – they don’t know. They are admitting they don’t know. They are not willing to come out and say it clearly, but they won’t deny it either. How many times are these posuers going to cry “Wolf” before we show them the door and demand real science, by real scientists? My bet is this is their last gasp. It is lat east very likely!
Hard to see how name-calling (poseurs crying Wolf advances the discourse much. As for your examples:
This happens every day; perhaps not with open heart procedures, which are rarely done wihtout prior angiogram procedures, but certainly if a patient takes a thallium (or other isotopic) stress test, including a treadmill test, thallium dye and myocardial infusion, the results may indicate blockage, but the decision as to whether or not to perform an angioplasty or angioplasy/stent procedure isn’t made until the catheter is inserted and the actual arteries observed; often the angiogram indicates no further action is required. So, indeed, likelihood is part of the process.
Same for treatment options on prostate cancer, for example, where actual biopsy of the tumor is important in deciding what course of action, i.e., is it a slow-growing non-invasive growth or is it agressive and likely to metasticize to multiple sites.
One would think that the option of pre-emptive war would require a very high degree of certainty, yet notable draft-dodger and errant shotgun enthusiast Dick Cheney says the war on terror empowers the Bush administration to act without the need for evidence or extensive analysis:

Is someone’s wittle feelings hurt? Scientists know facts are not caveated with maybes. And the truth is their cries of pending doom and little to know scientific foundation. Get used to it – the scientific community is not in agreement.

Cheney is not a scientist either. And I am not a Republican. And you never post anything impressive. That is the role life dealt you! I do need you to try and keep your emotional issues with your ‘mummy’ off my site. I am not interested and neither is anyone else. And I really don’t want to know why you brought all this up.

While “global warming?” Hmm. We’re actually past-due for an ice age. An Ice Age that repeats itself, big and small. Every 10,000 years.
The other thing to notice? Even though roads built of cement look like strips upon our globe; when we have earthquakes, our buildings stand up. While in other places? You mean you haven’t noticed? Little two story dwellings collapse. Killing thousands. And, shake for shake? The same 6.0. How come?
Is cement the solution?
Why is it that “common folk” prefer revenge fantasies to common sense? I dunno. But the donks just keep getting their “hero’s” huh? What with Algore now a nobel piss prize winnah. They sure do attempt to paint bleak pictures for Americans, over the pond. Could they be failing to actually “give rise” to stuff that’s so much wishful thinking?
Even sans religion, Marx strips humans of common sense. And, fills them with thinking the workers get anywhere, united. NOPE.
Too bad though the press won’t stop. Because? When time goes by, and people look back, they’ll see the press was always organized along political lines. Only? During the Civil War, Lincoln faced TWO SETS. Today? Only ONE.
More people. But less ability for the press to even have two camps.
If it wasn’t for the Internet? You wouldn’t even know there was so much negative opinion directed towards the elites. And, their obvious inability to tell the truth.
Want the truth? Nobody has stood up to Fitzgerald, even though they were “chattering” among themselves. You’d think at least “one of them” would have stood up. Instead of the garbage they’re saying, while they’re stuck together as a unit, against Libby.
Let me tell ya. Emotions don’t substitute for REASONS. Logic? Well, the ancient Greeks pushed women off the stage with Medea and Antigone. EMOTIONS? Lost out to LOGIC.
But if you’re stupid? Can’t do math? And, don’t mind outrageous college debt? Take journalism. You can travel to a credential on bullshit.
But in life? Build a better boat. The swamp has no rescue ships in sight. ANd, it’s not due to “GLOBAL WARMING.” What those idiots are touching? Bull shit. And, they must have a living bull, because the shit is always hot.
The first line was the best line and nothing more needed to be said. A big haauuuggeee maybe! My younger brother asked me last night why I get so worked up over Global Warming, and I told him I just cannot stand to see so many facts that have so little real truth attached to them. A glacier retreats up one side of a mountain…oh the glacier must be shrinking, nope its growing twice as fast down the other side of the hill. Senator Inhoff is my hero for standing up in a room full of an obvious bunch of looney toons and telling them the facts. I wish we had more Senators with a damn backbone, not a finger in the air.
I see the UN is launching its own program to raise awareness of global warming.
Yep, they want to administer whatever program the international community comes up with so that they can make money off it just like they did with the food for oil scam with Iraq. Trade emissions for money.
And meanwhile there will be more money needed for more research while the real scarey stuff out there like hunger and poverty and terrorism and Aids just gets pushed by the wayside by the frauds and the fakes and parasites.

I caught the headline for this article in the news section of my home page as I was checking the weather online before going to bed last night. I was going to come here and post an off-topic comment about it, but thanks to AJ’s alertness, my comment is on-topic.

End of discussion, finished, done, kaput, stick a fork in it. As AJ says, might as well just shoot ourselves and get it over with. Well, at least I don’t live in Manhatten in a 4th floor loft that will be under water in a few years. Geez, I don’t know whether to laugh or cry.
