Scientific Free Speech Is Dead In America

Published by at 9:40 am under All General Discussions,Global Warming

The Global Warming Gestapo has come out of the woodwork to punish and silence all who do not toe their propaganda lines:

n the face of evidence agreed upon by hundreds of climate scientists, George Taylor holds firm. He does not believe human activities are the main cause of global climate change.

Taylor also holds a unique title: State Climatologist.

Hundreds of scientists last Friday issued the strongest warning yet on global warming saying humans are “very likely” the cause.

“Most of the climate changes we have seen up until now have been a result of natural variations,” Taylor asserts.

Taylor has held the title of “state climatologist” since 1991 when the legislature created a state climate office at OSU The university created the job title, not the state.
His opinions conflict not only with many other scientists, but with the state of Oregon’s policies.

So the governor wants to take that title from Taylor and make it a position that he would appoint.

In an exclusive interview with KGW-TV, Governor Ted Kulongoski confirmed he wants to take that title from Taylor. The governor said Taylor’s contradictions interfere with the state’s stated goals to reduce greenhouse gases, the accepted cause of global warming in the eyes of a vast majority of scientists.

First off, the report issued was not by the scientist but by the political hacks who have a vested interest in spending the peoples’ money on their pet theories. The report from the scientists, due out in a few months, will actually be a back peddling on the cries of doom and gloom as more and more reality makes it into the so called ‘science’ of global warming. But what is disturbing is the idea someone can be punished, removed from their job, by some layman pol who probably can’t understand HS physics or biology. The fact is the Global Warming crowd which points to mankind as the driving force behind the phenomena have no scientific basis for their claims AND ADMIT IT. They caveat and condition all their claims so as to make sure they do not violate the scientific definition of fact vs is wild eyed theory.

For example, it is a FACT that the Moon orbits the Earth. It is a THEORY that the Moon was once part of Earth. Theories are sane speculation. It is hard to call the ‘man made’ Global Warming alarms even scientific theory, they have so little basis supporting them and tons of data that argue against them. There is no ‘accepted science’. And the liberal news media has done all they can to poison the scientific method which requires clear proof and near unanimous consensus for facts or theorems to become established. And it is not a consensus of those who think alike. As long as reasonable counter arguments exist then nothing is ‘accepted’. Which is why we don’t yet know whether the Moon was once part of the Earth or a trapped planetoid from after the creation of the solar system.

But let’s be clear – we are seeing the beginnings of the Liberal Inquisition. The left has determined what is acceptable and works to tamp out all disagreements, to the point they lie, harass, and use the force of government to tamp out dissent. This is not the first time in man’s history that cult-think has morphed into near dictatorial control of speech and thought. The great Galileo was constantly harassed by the Church to abide by their rules on what was allowable science. Kepler, the father of orbital mechanics, was also rebuffed by the Church for the crime of exploring nature. So here we are today, with a new uneducated cult-think obsessed with silencing their critics, not answering them. The liberal dogma of ignorance goes beyond the sciences involved with Global Warming, it extends into biology and the entire embryonic stem cell debate and the debasement of human life to nothing more than a spare parts store. The need to make reality simple so they can deal with it means the destruction of all the complexities and realities that get in their way. That is why the Global Warming hysteria is now ‘accepted science’ when in fact it has little science behind it. Just as the Embryonic Stem Cell debate has had to create a new and never before known life form called the fetus (which is and still remains a phase of life, not a form of life) that separates it from the human species. The need to cobble together the myth that human beings sprout from non-human masses of cells is right up their with witch doctors trying to scare out the evil of cancer with candles.

Sadly, our broken education system did this to us. We let people out of school with a fraction of the knowledge they should have and they take those bargain basement diplomas and degrees and pretend they hae become the all powerful and wise Wizard of Oz. Yet the concepts of derivatives, integrals, weak and strong nuclear forces, the mitochandrial DNA evolution path, biomolecular engineering, nano-technologies, etc, etc, etc are vague nuisances to the simplicity of a made up reality where a human being is not one just at the moment they prefer to kill it for its spare parts. How convenient for them.

The world must have thought the religious heathens with their belief in God and creationism was the biggest threat to science. Well they were wrong. The real threat is the liberal media and their power hungry backers who cook up Hollywood-simple ideas of how to be heroes to mankind, and get frustrated and angry when the real scientists and engineers point out all the problems with their little theories.

Because the se people will use the power of government to silence the debate and free flow of ideas. If this person in Washington loses his job because he hasn’t drank the non-science of Global Warming (while idiots like Ward Churchill and others can make up all sorts of BS about Bush and Cheney blowing up the Twin Towers) then scientific free speech will be dead in America. We either embrace reality as it is, no matter how frustrating or maddening the results are, or we go into self imposed ignorance and pretend our little fantasies are real – governed by government thought police.

Update: For an example of liberal propaganda check out this complete lie of a poll on Global Warming pressures – from the side which is trying to squash debate.

    Strata –
You are *so* cute when you’re hysterical (you little evergreen nugget of cuteness, you!). Do you come from a family line, where, like, your ‘rents were rabid anti-floridationists, too?

Bud, when da Main Man hisself and when the head of Dept. of Energy (an official department of Shrub Central) cop to the reality of MM GW, then, doncha think (I mean, I guess I mean, doncha “feel” like) it’s time to lay aside the hammer and tongs ??

And Kepler, and Galileo?!?? Who, exactly, is your Kepler and who’s your Galileo ??!!?? Too, too, precious. And equating the climate science community with the Great and Apostolic Church of Rome in Yore-ish Times! Genius! Needless to say, I’m persuaded (but persuaded of what? – you might ask).

You are such a gas. Thank you S.S. Strata. (Really, I mean it, you cutie, you) You continue to make my days. A veritable Daily Show for the cable-less. God bless you.

The scientific community gets most of its money from FEDERAL GRANTS. So, you bet. In learning how to effectively “write up a grant,” scientists were once taught to use glossy paper.

Our CONGRESS is infested with idiots. But the money that flows to universities is an UNTOLD CRIME, so far.

    That’s what’s skewing results.

I’d also like to remind everybody, that the MARCH OF DIMES refused to give ANY grant money to Dr. Salk. Or Dr. Sabin. If you think “charities” want to cure disease, you’re nuts!

Best place to find science? In the private sector. It’s BIG RISK. But it includes BIG VICTORIES, too. When you actually find cures.

Anyway, for those who are clueless, you can trace this money problem from congress: TO K STREET. “Your Tax Money At Work.”

dgfx – ignorance is your bliss. Giggling like a fool is right in character for you. Bush is no more a scientist than you are. What he says on science carries no weight with me. But clearly Bush has accomplished much more than you could ever hope to in your existence. So who has garners more basic respect? The answer is clear. Blog troll will never equate to President. Is that why you attempt to insult people? Soothe your insecure little ego? If it helps, by all means keep pretending you know what we are talking about. Doens’t bother me one way or the other what you say. Trust me

I don’t think “scientific free speech is dead in America,” AJ — not yet. We seem suddenly to be getting lots of new information about the “mechanisms” of the earth, because some of the so-called “deniers” are beginning to speak up and educate us. There are sites like http://www.co2science.org and http://climatesci.colorado.edu. And we know now that the “consensus” is bluffing, because they always speak in generalities. (You’d think that if there was such overwhelming evidence of anthropogenic climate change, it’d be easy to provide three numbers — how much CO2 is in the atmosphere, how much CO2 is there that would not be there but for human activity, and how much CO2 is required to begin turning Earth into Venus, start the next mass extinction, or trigger whatever other catastrophe we are supposed to think is around the corner.) And the “consensus” is beginning to look and sound just a bit desperate, at least to me.

So I am cautiously optimistic. (Of course, I’m not in the scientific community, so obviously I’m not feeling that totalitarian pressure that I suppose scientists are feeling when they’re not ballsy enough to tell the “consensus” that what they’re preaching isn’t science and to go to hell.)

    AJ,
    I liked your post.

Given the education standards in America, it’s not suprising your comments drift over the heads of many for whom glibness passes for knowledge.

  6. AJStrata says:

    Karig,

The debate should not include personal threats and punishments. Yes, the “man made” global warming crowd is back on their heels because all of us who were giving them time to PROVE their speculation have learned they cannot do that. And so the next round of debate is naturally occuring – the push back against unsubstantiated claims.

But the response of shutting down debate and firing people is absolutely chilling – and not disipating from what I can see.

  7. crosspatch says:

It isn’t about reality anymore AJ, it is all about what 51% of Americans *believe* according to polls. If 51% believe the moon is made out of green cheese, then by golly it is made out of green cheese. And this is exactly why our founders designed this country to be a republic and not a democracy.

Yes the climate is currently warming (but there is evidence that there has been no warming since 2004 though it is too early to say yet, not enough data) but it is *always* warming or cooling. The climate doesn’t “flatline” at any particular value. Oh, and as soon as the site I found it on comes back up, I can point you to new surveys that show the oceans aren’t rising either. They were slightly until the middle 1990’s and have actually been dropping slightly since.

Oh, and another thing for people to remember … every single bit of arctic ocean ice and all floating ice shelves can melt today and it will not change sea level at all because that water is already in the water. Try this experiment … take a glass, add several ice cubes, note the water level, after the cubes melt, note the water level again. It will be the same. Greenland and Antarctica have been *accumulating* ice. So the net pressure is on sea level dropping.

  8. The Macker says:

    crosspatch ,
Unless the Arctic ice has land beneath.

  9. crosspatch says:

Yes, I said floating ice shelves. They do make quite a bit lately over increased movement of ice from Greenland and Antarctica but those are likely the result of the greater accumulation inland. A glacier is basically like a river and when you increase the inland precipitation you increase the flow. Greenland and Antarctica have both been increasing inland ice mass and at the same time we have seen an increase in the flow to the sea of the major ice sheets. Overall they are still accumulating ice mass.

  10. crosspatch says:

Also note that the interglacial previous to this one was much warmer albeit shorter than this one has been. The arctic tree line was about 400 miles north of where it is now and the Arctic was likely free of summer ice (as it was in the 1940’s, by the way). This interglacial has actually been rather cool compared to others.

  11. crosspatch says:

One other thing to keep in mind too is that we have only had this cycle of ice ages for about 2 million years. Prior to that the earth was MUCH warmer than it is now for about 150 million years and there were no ice ages at all. Homo Erectus appeared at about the time we started having this most recent cycle of regular ice ages.
