We Are At War With Iran

Published by at 8:06 am under All General Discussions,Iran,Iraq

For those on the left who have forgotten, Iran declared war on the US and the West in the late 1970’s, when Carter allowed Islamo Fascists to take out one of our ‘imperfect’ allies (no leader in the ME has clean hands, we just need to monitor HOW dirty the hands are). Could the Shah of Iran turned into another Saddam, who we thought we could deal with and later learned we could not. It is not the first time an ally in a time of need turned into a despicable monster (Saddam’s role model Stalin comes to mind). Who knows. But we have been at war with Iran for decades – at least they have declared it many times over. And so no one should be surprised to find the war with Iran is heating back up as they funnel weapons and technology to insurgents in Iraq to kill our people. And of course they will deny they are doing this while doing it. But what I cannot abide, and what this nation cannot tolerate, is denial by our leaders that our people are being killed because of the Iranians. First and foremost the leaders of this country took and oath to protect its people, especially those in harms way on a mission sanctioned by the governing bodies of this nation. We are in Iraq, as the result of Congressional authorizations. And the Democrat’s have no will or support to surrender Iraq at this time. So they are bound, by their pledges, to stand up for our people there. Any hesitation, resistance or caveating will mean they have turned against our military. They either stand firm against this act of aggression by Iran or they will be counted as allies of Iran instead of supporters of our troops.

No supporter of our men and women in the military could even conceive of allowing them to be slaughtered by Iranian deviance. None. The only way to give Iran a bye and claim support for our troops is to be a liar. There is no grey area here.

Further—Hamas agreed with you about Arafat-prefer them?( I take no side in intra-Palestinian feuds, but Arafat was more moderate than his chief rivals). Recruitment of jihadists “not our fault?” Terrye wants us to continue aligning with the Israeli Right against the bulk of the Moslem street, which even if a particular member thereof is not considering joining the jihad himself, says it IS, in substantial measure, the fault of the US,according to all polling done in Moslem lands. Enjoy the defeat,Terrye. By the way the fact you resort to calling Saddam my “hero” shows how desperate you are to
defend your suicidal politics. Actually, I resented very much
America’s broad siding with Saddam when he unwisely attacked Iran.

Ohhh, yes-I didn’t know Messers Mearsheimer, Walt, Buchanan,
Paul Craig Roberts, Buchanan. etc were on the “Left.”

I am not misinformed. Just because you managed to find a sentence somewhere from some out of context cherry picked nonsense does not change the facts. And it seems you are oblivious to what facts are. Bill Clinton was on TV not a week before the invasion talking about those weapons. No one ever said that Saddam had no weapons, that is not even what your link says. Tell me have you spent the last decade in a cave, a rehab clinic or a nut house? Hell I could cut and paste hundreds of quotes from everyone from Ted Kennedy to Carl Levin talking about Saddam and his weapons. Use google, no doubt you can find them too. There is one whole site dedicated to just that….and it would not change what passes for your mind.

That little link means nothing. Absolutely freaking nothing. The point was that Saddam was supposed to comply with both the cease fire agreement and the mandatory UN resolutions. He did not. Saddam was supposed to account for his weapons, he did not. To this day they do not know where those weapons went.

Go read the UN Resolution 1441. Go read the Congressional Resolution giving Bush authority to use force. Go read the Iraqi Liberation Act. Go read the Deufler Report. Go read the human rights reports. Read something other than the crap at DU and Daily Kos.

I get so tired of arguing this stuff with uninformed people. Really I do. It is not worth the effort.

According to the experts it would have taken Saddam less than 2 years to reconstitute those bio and chem weapons, which means he would have them right now.

The point was Saddam was not going to be restrained forever. That was the whole point and it seems you are not smart enough to understand that so why bother talking to you?

For years the left bitched and moaned about Saddam. They did plays and wrote books complaining about the fact that the US and others tolerated the fascist dictator and then when this truly evil man is removed from power many of the same people did an about face and complained that Saddam was not left to his own devices. the self serving two faced nature of the complaining is disgusting really.

And by the way, one of the truly disgusting aspects of this is the manner in which the far right and the far left have joined forces in one big hate fest of anti American holocaust denying and terrorist loving stupidity. Extremes meet. You are a good example of that. Neo nazis and the loony left, a hell of a match.

And btw, feeding the Jews to them will not help my friend. So go ahead and tell yourself it is all the fault of the Jooooos and if we just align ourselves with the socalled moderate Arabs and help them finish the job Hitler started and wipe Israel off the face of the earth then all will be well.

Which just goes to show how little you know. Go read about the Muslim Brotherhood and its beginnings long before Israel, about the fatwa brought against the British long before there was an Israel.

You know when I hear about some Palestinian terrorist putting a suicide bomb on a mentally retarded boy and sending him off to kill Jews…I don’t blame the Israeli right, I blame the people who put the bomb on the kid.

No wonder you miss Saddam, he paid Palestinians to kill Jews.

I understand now, you are a Nazi.

  5. lassoingtruth says:

According to Hans Blix, who was the UN liason,Terrye, Saddam did comply and was much more honest in so doing than Bush.Read his book… You say “No one ever said that Saddam had no weapons, that is not even what your link says”…..We are talking WMDs and whether Hussein was a threat-Powell and Rice said no,repeatedly , to both throughout 2001 when asked at press conferences etc. The link means everything. As most Americans now inferentially agree,- they believe Bush did lie which has helped turn them against the war.

The Stern Gang assassinated Brits and anyone who got in their
Jewish supremacist way-but I see what you are, Terrye,
an approver of genocide against native Palestinians commited
in the name of Zionism, the revisionist wing of which ,traceable to the
Likudists today, admired many aspects of fascism.

    What shall we do, AJ?

    What is “standing firm”, AJ?

  8. lassoingtruth says:

Just checking in, has AJ rescinded this overwrought “no gray area”
melodrama, now that General Pace and even “the great president” Bush, more subtly, has said there IS a gray area regards Iranian govt.
    involvement?

  9. AJStrata says:

    Lasso,

No intention to rescind. While as President, Bush (and his lead general) need to tread on nuance, I do not require specific guidance from them to form my opinions. And I have no need to meter my views in fear of international repercusions. Unlike the left, who are robots acting as nothing more then a tape loop, we conservatives think for ourselves, and speak for ourselves. When are you going to snip your strings Mr Puppet?

  10. lassoingtruth says:

I’m not on the left, and to the extent you are following the Wilsonian liberal neocon line on foreign policy, preaching extending
“democracy” abroad like a pie-in-the sky liberal do-gooder,
you are not a conservative. Nor does your milquetoast middle of the road stand on immigration stand you in the right’s good stead,
more profusely inhabited by those more closely aligned with
such as Buchanan, much to your oft-expressed chagrin.

Either Bush believes he has conclusive evidence or he does not.
If he does not believe so, he is not using nuance, he is distancing
himself and saber-fidgeting. He , with Cheney and the Israel First
neocons still lodged between him and the friends and ideological
partners of his dad, are scary, though!

We are NOT at war with Iran and let Bob Dreyfuss explain why

AJ..why not resign from the Lie Factory?
