Democrat’s Need A Lesson On The US Constitution

Published by at 6:57 am under All General Discussions,Iraq

Democrats (and their media puppets) always seem in need of a serious tutorial on the very US Constitution they took an oath to protect. The Senate Dems are tring to play Commander-in-Chief (those silly egoes of theirs!) and direct the use of our forces in Iraq.

Four years ago, Congress passed legislation authorizing President Bush to go to war in Iraq. Now Senate Democrats want to take it back.

Key lawmakers, backed by party leaders, are drafting legislation that would effectively revoke the broad authority granted to the president in the days Saddam Hussein was in power, and leave U.S. troops with a limited mission as they prepare to withdraw.

Officials said Thursday the precise wording of the measure remains unsettled. One version would restrict American troops in Iraq to fighting al-Qaida, training Iraqi army and police forces, maintaining Iraq’s territorial integrity and otherwise proceeding with the withdrawal of combat forces.

Congress has no such power. Time to time an overly excited Congress thinks all they need to do to change the Constitution is pass a Bill the normal way. We all know that is not how it works, and here is what the Constitution says about who directs the military:

The President shall be Commander in Chief of the Army and Navy of the United States, and of the Militia of the several States, when called into the actual Service of the United States; …

No caveats or conditions or limitations. None. Here are some historical annotations to these clear Consitutional Powers:

n 1850, Chief Justice Taney, for the Court, said: ”His duty and his power are purely military. As commander-in- chief, he is authorized to direct the movements of the naval and military forces placed by law at his command, and to employ them in the manner he may deem most effectual to harass and conquer and subdue the enemy. He may invade the hostile country, and subject it to the sovereignty and authority of the United States. But his conquests do not enlarge the boundaries of this Union, nor extend the operation of our institutions and laws beyond the limits before assigned to them by the legislative power.

The Congress cannot rewrite the Constitution by normal Bills. So this is another wasted, useless, ego-trip by one of the worst Democrat Senates in America’s history.

I noticed his affiliation with McCain. Powell and Armitage.

I’m not surprised either with their positions.

McCain does not have my vote. Anyone working for McCain, I have little respect for their opinions.

    Lass

Tries for a rimshot but all he gets is a bounce of the backboard.

How do you go thru life like that?

    Loved Cheney’s response regarding Pelosi:

A classic example of how adults handle their children when they go wrong.

Now only if we can get Lass to quit pi**ing on the carpet and get potty trained.

Lurker my current choice is none of the above and he has my full support.

Who would have ever thought they we are gonna put up this slate of mediocre crash dummies to challenge the dems.

Not to say that they even have something much better…………

Some things get bad other thing really go terribly wrong.

Hell I even saw Steffi Steponopolis on tv this morning looking at Hillary’s a** like it was sorta like the promised land.

I’m leaning more in that direction too, Merlin. Iowa Gov. Vilsack looked to me to be the best of the Donks, and he just quit. None of the Repubs impress me all that much, least of all the so-called “front-runners.”

    lassy-untruth,
I know it’s futile, but you ought to refrain from lying when accusing others of lying, and it’d be helpful if you had real facts at hand to know the truth instead of the lefty rags and lying weasels you link to. Bush/Cheney never lied in the run up to Iraq. Bush/Cheney never said Iraq was part of the 9-11 operation. In fact, they clearly stated that there was no hard evidence on the matter. But even the 9-11 commission — not friendly to Bush/Cheney — acknowledged a definitie connection b/w Al Qaeda & Iraq. Read the report. One would be derelict in duty not to look further into any and all connections, and to be dismissive of the possibilities.

    Setting the Record Straight

Even Foreign Governments That Opposed The Removal Of Saddam Hussein Judged That Iraq Had Weapons Of Mass Destruction (WMD).

French Foreign Minister Dominique De Villepin: “Right Now, Our Attention Has To Be Focused As A Priority On The Biological And Chemical Domains. It Is There That Our Presumptions About Iraq Are The Most Significant. Regarding The Chemical Domain, We Have Evidence Of Its Capacity To Produce VX And Yperite. In The Biological Domain, The Evidence Suggests The Possible Possession Of Significant Stocks Of Anthrax And Botulism Toxin, And Possibly A Production Capability.” (United Nations Security Council, 4701st Meeting, New York, 2/5/03)

German Ambassador To The United States Wolfgang Ischinger: “I Think All Of Our Governments Believe That Iraq Has Produced Weapons Of Mass Destruction And That We Have To Assume That They Still Have That They Continue To Have Weapons Of Mass Destruction. We Have Not Yet Seen Evidence Produced By The Inspectors.” (NBC’s “Today,” 2/26/03)

The Robb-Silberman Commission Found The PDB To Contain Similar Intelligence In “More Alarmist” And “Less Nuanced” Language. “As problematic as the October 2002 NIE was, it was not the Community’s biggest analytic failure on Iraq. Even more misleading was the river of intelligence that flowed from the CIA to top policymakers over long periods of time in the President’s Daily Brief (PDB) and in its more widely distributed companion, the Senior Executive Intelligence Brief (SEIB). These daily reports were, if anything, more alarmist and less nuanced than the NIE.” (Charles S. Robb And Laurence H. Silberman, The Commission On The Intelligence Capabilities Of The United States Regarding Weapons Of Mass Destruction, 3/31/05, p. 14)

The President Never Connected Iraq To The 9/11 Attacks While Other Politicians And Independent Commissions Judged That There Were Contacts Between Iraq, Al-Qaeda And Other Terrorist Groups.

President Bush Said There Is “No Evidence That Saddam Hussein Was Involved With” 9/11. PRESIDENT BUSH: “We’ve had no evidence that Saddam Hussein was involved with the September 11th.” (President Bush, Remarks After Meeting With Members Of The Congressional Conference Committee On Energy Legislation, Washington, D.C., 9/17/03)

Condoleezza Rice Said That Saddam Hussein Never “Had Either Direction Or Control Of 9/11.” RICE: “And we have never claimed that Saddam Hussein had either, that Saddam Hussein had either direction or control of 9/11. What we have said is that this was someone who supported terrorists, helped train them. But most importantly, that this is someone who, with his animus towards the United States, with his penchant for and capability to gain weapons of mass destruction, and his obvious willingness to use them, was a threat in this region that we were not prepared to tolerate.” (ABC’s “Nightline,” 9/16/03)

Sen. Clinton (D-NY): “[Saddam] Has Also Given Aid, Comfort, And Sanctuary To Terrorists, Including Al-Qaida Members, Though There Is Apparently No Evidence Of His Involvement In The Terrible Events Of September 11, 2001. This Much Is Undisputed.” (Sen. Hillary Clinton, Congressional Record, 10/10/02, p. S10288)

The only reason I am watching this race at all is to see when the biggest threat to Hillary takes a sudden unexpected dirt nap, whether that is a donk or one of them on the side of that big grey thing with a trunk.

Look at Bill’s past in Arkansas.

About half a county fell down and strangley no one was around to watch.

You correctly point out that Vilsack took to the exits before the revolving door stopped spinning.

Perhaps the first of many to get their horse head in their bed.

It was Grand Mufti that helped Nazi come up with the plan to exterminate Jews. Saddam and Yasser Arafat appear to be descendant of Grand Mufti. Nazi members also helped started the Ba’ath party and overthrow Qassam.

Who was the Grand Mufti, Haj Muhammed Amin al-Husseini?

At the Nuremberg Trials, Eichmann’s deputy Dieter Wisliceny (subsequently executed as a war criminal) testified:

    * The Mufti was one of the initiators of the systematic extermination of European Jewry and had been a collaborator and adviser of Eichmann and Himmler in the execution of this plan. … He was one of Eichmann’s best friends and had constantly incited him to accelerate the extermination measures. I heard him say, accompanied by Eichmann, he had visited incognito the gas chamber of Auschwitz.

THE GENOCIDE OF THE IRAQI PEOPLE UNDER SADDAM HUSSEIN IS DIRECTLY CONNECTED TO AMIN AL-HUSSEINI,
    GRAND MUFTI OF JERUSALEM

    Hitler’s Mufti

After the defeat of the Axis powers, Hajj Amin al-Husseini escaped indictment as a war criminal at Nuremberg by fleeing to Egypt, where he received political asylum and where, shortly after his arrival, he met the young Yasser Arafat, a teenager then living in Cairo. (Arafat and al-Husseini were, in fact, distantly related: Arafat’s mother was the daughter of al-Husseini’s first cousin.) Arafat soon became a devoted protégé of the grand Mufti, who brought a former Nazi commando to Egypt to teach Arafat and others how to fight. Arafat first shed Jewish blood during terrorist raids against Israel in 1947.

    Merlin,

Merlin, Bill and Hill already have the dirtbag, Terry McAuliffe out there making threats. He said the other day, after the Gefen comments, that Hillary will remember those who opposed her. Who else in contemporary politics could get away with making open threats and remain a viable candidate?

This is certainly going to be one of the most interesting political seasons of my lifetime.

  18. Carol_Herman says:

    WHICH IS A GOOD THING!

Remember this. The battle at Gettysburg is long over. Yet, the words remain. And, shortly enough after Gettysburg, it was necessary for Lee to hand his sword to Grant.

This, however, is an UNcivil war. Done in FARCE, not tragedy.

So, hollywood is where the swords fall. And, even t’marra, the Oscar picture looks bleak for them.

As a matter of fact, in 1862 Lincoln ran into the same problem Bush got with 2006. DECODER RING? In 1862 Lincoln almost lost every republican that had gone into the HOUSE on his coattails in 1860. You’d think defeat was in the air.

You should go and look up that story. Because Lincoln did herculian stuff with getting so many Americans to follow him, not to going back to “business as usual.” BUT TO CHANGE. And, that change saw slavery erased as constitutionally legal.

Did you know, today, when many Americans are asked to name their favorite presidents, that Lincoln’s name TOPS THE LIST? No. I’m not making this up.

And, what happens when the smoke clears, ahead? Since I read Hugh Hewitt’s 2004 book, written to show that Americans need to wake up from this 50/50 splitting. Because the lawyers for the donks will steal every election they can. UNTIL THEY CAN’T.

Until all the lawyers pulling one way, fail as miserably as the less talented elites who barf away in print, and on TV, NOT bringing sponsers anything to show for their ad moneys.

Can things survive past their due dates? Seems the russians are still bankcrupt. And, “still in business.” So, too, that crap house on 42nd street; where the only honest deals you get are on the street. (But those deals happen to be illegal.)

Somebody put out money immediately AFTER the 2004 on Obama. He was heard over and over in my market and I assumed Hillary was promoting her VP. Heh! Soros? The Voice is powerful stuff.

Only one candidate has a shot at stopping the Dems this time and that’s Rudy. Even then, don’t know if I would bet against The Voice. When you think of your pet issue, imagine anti-American kooks in the Senate, House and WH.

Too funny. The left is trying to show us how to do a late term abortion on a vote.
