Reps Will Lose In ’08 If Gonzales Is Ousted

Published by at 10:34 am under 2008 Elections,All General Discussions

The Reps better start showing some unity and support if they have a prayer of winning back Congress in 2008. For all those weak-kneed types ready to shove Gonzales under the bus let me remind you all that this will be an example of what conservatives can expect when the going gets tough and the purity police come out. If Reps plan to dump conservatives at a drop of a hat it will be fair game for conservatives to dump the Reps again – as was done in 2006. Stand by your allies despite differences or be prepared to be jettisoned yourselves. Too many of us non-Rep conservatives are sick and tired of the purity wars and how easily the hard right dumps its allies. Hat Tip to Mac Ranger for reminding me to get my two cents in on this dumb non-issue.

Face it, conservatives are surrounded by Democrats and Republicans. Who is this Sununu to demand that Gonzales resign? What a coward! What a sellout! Can he even figure out that Gonzales has the authority to fire U.S. Attorneys? Those e-mails he’s getting from the rabid Dems must have him shaking in his shoes.

  2. AJStrata says:

Sununu needs to sit down and shut up. These camera-moths are a pathetic lot. No one is forcing them to get up and be the clown.

  3. kathie says:

They dump Gonzales, who do they think that they can get confirmed? I’m sick of this stupidity. The dems figured out that the President strength was his trust worthiness, so they got Wilson to destroy that, can’t any one see that this is a campaign to destroy this president one blow at a time?

  4. lurker9876 says:

What can we do? Email the White House and DoJ?

When I read what John Sununu was doing yesterday, I saw this as a repeat of the Republican’s disunity regarding Miers, UAE port deal, and others. These guys need to stand by Bush this time.

  5. Carol_Herman says:

Sorry. I don’t think it matters. The “only loss” will go to Bush, himself, for being so light in his loafers.

There’s no sympathy for Gonzales; because he’s the freak who let Libby suffer.

Where was the outcry when Libby WHO WAS TELLING THE TRUTH; was made to suffer through a witch hunt?

By the way, Guiliani, for sure, will RUN AGAINST BUSH. As will GOP-kiesters in the senate. Especially the 24 up for re-election in 2008. Why so? Bush has been that bad! He’s got no vocal chords that work with a majority of Americans; INCLUDING those who are registered GOP voters!

Yes, he’s gonna be attacked for the next two years. BECAUSE HE’S AN IDIOT!

Perhaps, when he went to Haarvard and Yale, the professors, knowing “the family” left him alone, when he showed up in class. And, much brighter students took part in discussing, this OAF ignored.

He’s not in the same boat, anymore.

And, he’s let a lot of good people, who came to work for him, SUFFER.

I don’t think there’s gonna be spill-over to the whole GOP. You want to find mad? Go to the tents in Riyadh. And, see how angry the Saudi’s are. As they’re pushing this MORON to give them Mideast properties full of people who hate the tent dwellers IN Riyadh.

About the only thing the Sunnis got so far? Halliburton. Running out of Houston. Running away from Oxley-Sarbanes, which is pathetic law. And, living in that “fake build-up” where the Sunnis think they’re building the new Singapore … Missing? Of course, the Chinese. Who made Singapore a worthy recipient of business deals.

For the short term? Dubai wins. For the long term? They’re lawless arabs. Who expect bribes. And, this, alone, will build up rage.

So, you got the “seething arabs” on one side. Bush in the middle, light in his loafers. And, a GOP who are angry that Bush even lacked inquisitiveness, when he had the chance.

So, here’s my interpretation. Straight from my decoder ring: Bush is burning his own dynasty. But he’s not laying a glove on real politicians. Who will run against him from every side.

As to Gonzales? I’m not impressed. As to Harriet Miers? Even less impressed. As to Bush? Hasn’t improved, so far, over six years. So, I don’t expect much. But the headlines that won’t amount to a thing; when the real players show up. And, get taken seriously.

To give you another example? Ronald Reagan was NOT held back by Gerald Ford! Think about it.

    AJ,

This is pretty amazing and very disturbing –

OUTRAGE: Rosie O’Donnell Feels Bad for 9/11 Mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed –

  7. The Macker says:

    CH,
Get a grip. The Dem illusionists created that caricature of Bush and you have fallen for it.

    AJ,
Wish Gonzales were tougher, but we can’t cave on this non-issue, or the Dems will be emboldened and any new AG will have to pass a Chuck Schumer test.

  8. Jacqui says:

If you listen to the Rosie rant you realize just how stupid she really is…she states Khalid has been is custody since 1993 (he actually was captured in 2003 and had professed he was the mastermind of many of these attacks before capture) ….. He’s been under indictment by the US since 1996 for project Bojinka which was a plot to blow up planes over the Pacific. Rosie also claims the picture taken at his capture as the picture taken after he was tortured at Gitmo.

Why ABC lets someone so misinformed and lacking of integrity spew garbage on their network is inexplainable – Barbara Walters should be ashamed of herself for letting this continue.

I read Rosie was dealing with depression – perhaps she needs to take her meds.,,,maybe she should send some to Carol_Herman too…she seems to need some help.

  9. The Macker says:

    Jacqui,
“Why ABC lets someone so misinformed and lacking of integrity spew garbage on their network is inexplainable”-

Agree with your assesment, but that is what they have become.

  10. dennisa says:

There are a lot of people doing what O’Donnell does in the media. Look at Olbermann. Talking out the wrong end is their way of getting attention. I feel sorry for the country when idiots like this are taken seriously.

  11. Taumarunui says:

Gonzales should be fired. He has been a useless AG. Real leak investigations have gone nowhere under his tenure while Fitzgerald was allowed to run amok long after Armitage confessed to the DOJ. Heck, did Gonzales even tell his boss that Armitage was the leaker? Libby was left hanging in the wind by Gonzales’ inaction. The only problem is that firing him now rewards the Dems. Bush should wait till that fuss dies down and then sack Gonzales, sack Fitzgerald, sack anyone stalling leak investigations, and pardon Libby.

  12. lurker9876 says:

I wonder why Gonzales hasn’t done anything with Fitzgerald to date. If he did, would the democrats attack him?

  13. Terrye says:

I think the whole issue is ridiculous and it is no small wonder leak investigations are not going anywhere, he can’t fire anybody without it turning into a freak show.

  14. Carol_Herman says:

Libby lost because AG Gonzales is a suck up. Who sucks. And, should have been fired for incompetence long ago!

Instead? In the climate created by Bush in his White House, you’d think the donks would have been DElighted. Affirmative action nincompoops everywhere. With the one caveat. The boss felt they were loya. (Since they weren’t laughing at him. Which is just another sign that they were WAY TOO STUPID!)

Then? O’Connor goes to retire. And, Bush, who thinks he can do anything he wants; opted to nominate Harriet Miers.

THIS ALONE, got AG Gonzales very angry. Heck, the supreme-O’s bench now has two Catholics. And, a woman. And, at two Italians. Wasn’t it about time that a nincompoop could go there, carrying the hispanic ticket? He has one in his pocket.

Bush is as dumb as a do-do bird.

And, he suffers because no one on his team is anything BUT a Bush leaguer.

What’s the worry? The GOP survived Warren Harding and Herbert Hoover; when it was the smoke filled rooms picking those weak candidates. Eisenhower? Well, you would have been better off, four-years earlier with MacArthur. But there really is a suicidal tendancy; among academics. And, the GOP when they enter smoke-filled rooms.

What’s in play? From Schwartzenegger’s vantage point the donks aren’t about to mount a victorious candidate in 2008. And, by being a governor of a State that just shoved up its primary date … The 2008 “man of destiny” doesn’t have to cower and fear the right hand lunatics.

While Hillary hasn’t closed in on “her” sale, yet. So she caters to the loons are the left.

Which is a benefit to “the Man in the Middle.”

Bush? Well, who is he gonna satisfy? He doesn’t bring home the grades to satisfy anyone who “sent him into the Oval Office.”

And, whatever happens to Gonzales now, won’t matter. Hari-Kari? Or “sticking by his man.” Either way Bush loses.

You’d think he’d have gained some knowledge at being President. But all he’s learned is that he is terrified of speaking in public. And, no matter who takes of advantage of him, ahead; it’s not going to affect 2008.

Consider this like a bicylce ride with training wheels. Popular men will get to watch the dummy fall. And, it won’t do the democraps all that much good, either. Since they can’t get a leg up, without being handicapped by affirmative action.

Bringing up Fitzgerald, you’ll notice he fears the donks in congress, as well. And, so far has NOT answered their subpeona. Seems he doesn’t like to be questioned out in the limelight, either.

Bush and Fitzgerald regret that the “talkies” were ever invented. They had rehearsed so many posturing poses; it’s a shame for them, they’ve got no forum in which to show off.

    Meanwhile, I couldn’t care less.

  15. Soothsayer says:

    Gonzales is toast.

Take that to the bank. He will be the second Republican attorney General to do prison time, following in the glorious footsteps of John Mitchell. Never the sharpest knife in the drawer, he has made the mistake of thinking that Bush won’t throw him overboard when the sharks are circling.

He has perjured himself before Congress numerous time – and now he’s going to get caught. Move over, Scooter. The bottom line:

In testimony on Jan. 18, Attorney General Alberto R. Gonzales assured the Senate Judiciary Committee that the Justice Department had no intention of avoiding Senate input on the hiring of U.S. attorneys.

Just a month earlier, D. Kyle Sampson, who was then Gonzales’s chief of staff, laid out a plan to do just that. In an e-mail, he detailed a strategy for evading Arkansas Democrats in installing Tim Griffin, a former GOP operative and protege of presidential adviser Karl Rove, as the U.S. attorney in Little Rock.

“We should gum this to death,” Sampson wrote to a White House aide on Dec. 19. “[A]sk the senators to give Tim a chance . . . then we can tell them we’ll look for other candidates, ask them for recommendations, evaluate the recommendations, interview their candidates, and otherwise run out the clock. All of this should be done in ‘good faith,’ of course.”

This is an open and shut case. Bye-bye! He’s going to find out that loyalty is a one way street with George – and it’s not as if George sponsored Speedy for Skull & Bones.

  16. The Macker says:

    Sooth,
    “when the sharks are circling.”-
At least you have enough presence of mind to recognize that!

  17. The Macker says:

    Sooth,
I apologize for the personal criticism. We agree, “the sharks are circling.”

  18. Buckaroo says:

    Carol

AG Gonzales was not what caused Fitzgerald. AG Ashcroft punted and gave the job to his deputy. Deputy Comey caused the Fitzgerald debacle. Gonzales needs to be supported, he is not red meat for the beast nor does he deserve to be. Political soldiers need to be supported too.

  19. Carol_Herman says:

The president’s team is loaded with incompetents on one side. And, crap like James Baker on the other. Bush, himself, is not up to the job.

And, AG Gonzales could have intervened, against Fitzgerald, once it was obvious this was all political. BUT. HE. DID. NOT.

Instead? Libby was expected to jump on his sword.

Bush doesn’t care much for what others have to sacrifice. He calls it “loyalty.” It’s not loyalty. It’s a job where men and women work for a poor performer. Who think if you dress well, (always in a suit and tie), and you “get along,” so that no one yells), he’s got a going operation.

There’s nothing in Bush’s background that show him to be a good and able manager. He coasted on his dad’s contacts. And, fortune.

AND, THEN IT ALL CAUGHT UP.

From where I sit, most Americans are angry at BOTH EXTREMES in politics. That means? Most Americans are not happy with the congress it got in 2006. (They’re rarely happy with these characters, anyway.) And, in another week or two, Tom DeLay’s book, coming out, will offer more dish. No. I’m not surprised.

    Backstage, actors rarely get along.

While, Buckaroo, whatever you want to call “support,” isn’t the kind of stuff where others in power go to bat for a teammate. The affirmative action ship bush drives doesn’t have a whole lot of support going on for it. And, someday? People will laugh at democraps for not seeing “all the good stuff” Bush followed by going so off-course on the GOP.

    But you’re not there, yet.

And, to lots of people A PLAGUE ON BOTH HOUSES.

The Elder Bush wasn’t popular, either. Which shows ya that you can’t just shove a country into doing what you want. You either have the abilities at the helm; to get support. Or you don’t.

Nixon didn’t. Gerald Ford was an idiot, and didn’t.

And, working from about 1974, onward, Ronald Reagan went around the country, where people were unhappy with GOVERNMENT. People from both parties. It was what made the Reagan Revolution possible.

Today? It seems Guiliani is trying this. I keep watching McCain. And, I think he’s out there “giving the quarterback support.” But most people just see “competition.” While I don’t.

As to Bush, he’s got to figure out to get out of harm’s way, himself. He’s still the REALTOR to the HOUSE OF SAUD. And, most arabs happen to hate those particular tent dwellers. Stuff that’s been tried before. And, failed.

Olmert, in Israel, just gave an interesting speech. He acknowledged that he isn’t liked. But he intends to stay at the helm, anyway. Until his four year term runs out. (Can’t tell ya if this will work. Or not. This White House, with James Baker in it; and Condi Rice trying so hard to make the “two-states” happen, in spite of the stance the arabs have that Israel must be destroyed) … Ya just gotta wonder for how long more it will stay rediculous.

If a Supreme Court justice steps down in June? Or for health reasons is “out.” Then what? I’ll guess Bush doesn’t have the political clout to even try another “Harriet Miers” moment. O’Connor will be asked to step into the breach. And, the discussion of who goes where will change for the next president to deal with … To show you the kinds of capital Bush LOST. He’s got no “anything” in his pocket.

    Other presidents have been there.

But this is the first time I’m seeing it play quite this way.

In other words? The donks have terrible problems with their base. Hillary still has to kow tow to them. And, there’s no guarantees that she’s going anywhere. Let alone, IF she gets to be nominated, that Guiliani couldn’t eat her for lunch.

One week or so past Libby. Bush never said how disappointed he was in the political witch hunt. So, in my book I think Bush missed opportunities, galore.

Now he’s on the hot sit. As he watches congress trying to rip away at prerogatives that belong to the Executive.

No easy answers. But Bush is STUCK. That means he has to get out of the trap, or whatever you want to call where he is at; and why he can’t drive the Presidential machine. Not with the way he went for the past six years!

While the donks are not gaining ground.

People are just getting angry at all the slobs they see. Chuckie Schumer, included.

It’s a time lots of Americans take the measure of politicians. Lots are being found wanting.

While as a side issue, in Iraq, we finally have Maliki FUNCTIONING. Sure. Out of fears. SO all those headlines from the congress? They’re not turning Americans off to the cause that the Iraqis deserve support. Their money. Their spine. Which is an unusual place for arabs to be. Since they tend to go into default positions; like the ten year Iran-Iraq war; that Reagan used as a vehicle to FREE The Contras from the Sandinistas. You’ll notice the press didn’t cover that one either, very well. And, yet? Reagan functioned fine.

Yes, there’s one area where the donks, using government apparatus go after individuals. It costs them tens of millions to clear their good name. Long list. Deaver. Casper Weinberger. Lyn Nofizger. To name a few. Libby is now on the list, too.

It’s a hard devil to beat when the donks, with nothing else but lawyers, and George Soros’ billions, want to steal this country.

Makes a lot of people mad.

Doesn’t do a thing for the base. Where both teams have lunatics at the extremes.

The good news? The right wing extremists aren’t in charge. While Code Pink still grabs idiotic headlines.

It’s not a quagmire. It looks more like a stalemate; with fewer pawns.

As to Gonzales, you’re more than welcome to do your best and protect the idiot. But in politics, Bush is responsible for even thinking Gonzales belonged on the White House team.

We’re not in Vietnam, anymore. NOR ARE WE IN TEXAS!

  20. Carol_Herman says:

    Take another look, folks.

They are not sharks! They are fleas.

And, if nothing else? There’s a positive outcome. Lots of people recognize Gonzales’ weaknesses. Today, he is much further away from ever being considered for a “seat on the Supremes.”

He’s sort’a like “Brownie.” The idiot on Bush’s team who couldn’t figure out what to do with FEMA at Katrina. So it goes. Weak CEO’s might be good for parades. But not much else.

While on the other side? You think Schumer is “halping” the donks? I don’t. I just think he’s one of these ill-bred pieces of crap that runs into the limelight. “Karry” would halp him. But he’s got no winds in his sails.

And, the media just reports JUNK.

It’s not a fight that is “working.” Because it’s not “halping” the media re-gain audience share.

Americans absorb the lessons provided by all these incompetents. It’s like any poor management group producing Edsel’s. For a period of time, ahead, till the clock runs out. The game is such that most people have left the stands for an early start into the parking lot. Yeah. They’ll discuss the coach.

As far as I’m concerned, the Bush dynasty was never worth all that much hoopla.

As to Sununu. What an interesting fella! Bush, the Elder, in 1988, was losing, coming into New Hampshire. McCain was HOT. So, in a deal, Sununu (a skilled computer programmer), went on the offensive. And, the primary voters were exposed to electronic, NO PAPER TRAIL, polls. Ah ha! The phone wires were switched. The votes for McCain went instead to the elder Bush. Sneaky.

But that’s how ya got Bush to run against Dukakis.

Later? Just like Henry Clay got to be Secretary of War under John Quincy Adams, 1824. Where Clay threw the election results into the Congress. What followed? Andrew Jackson ran twice more. And, won by huge popular margins. 1828 and 1832. While the “genius” Henry Clay went home. And, the WHIGS ultimately went down the toilet.

In 1988, Sununu (the father), went into the elder Bush’s White House as Chief of Staff. Very powerful position. The one James Baker built his career moves on, too.)

Anyway, Bush the elder is one of these polite, but indirect guys. He wanted Sununu OUT. But didn’t know how to do it with words. So leaks appeared, accusing Sununu of “going to the dentist in Air Force One’s helicopter. And, then he did it again, to go to a stamp show in New York City. Buh bye. The sneaky way.

Now the son, Sununu, elected to the senate in New Hampshire, where this powerful palestinian family gives no quarter; will continue to suck blood from Dubya at every opportunity. And, as long as he can, too.

Since the Bush’s will never tell the truth about that first deceit, that gave poppa the White House in 1988. Scoundrels and thieves.
