Any Republican Who Caves On Gonzales Is A Lost Cause

Published by at 7:47 am under 2008 Elections,All General Discussions

I have had it with spineless Reps. I knew my distance from the Republicans was the right choice when they started to bend on harvesting humans for overblown and unproven medical promises. But now they have gone from eating their young to eating those who make them look sort of bad in the media. Which means the Reps no longer act as a counter balance to the media, they are now beholden to them. They screwed up the last Congressional session primarily due to their purity BS (when are people going to realize you cannot diss those you need to form a majority), and now they blame everyone except themsleves and are running scared from the media and Dems. Well grow a spine and, if you are going to lose, lose on principle and standing tall. Even the once venerable Charles Krauthammer said Gonzales should go because things did not go perfectly (of course, “perfect” is left for him to define). I am serious about this. If the Reps cannot muster some spine and back Gonzales (who will be the Dems flypaper – diverting them from serious damage to this country) then there is no reason to back them at all. Grow a spine or whither on the vine.

The liberals can try all they want. We know their tactics.

WE are sitting tightly coiled, old soothie. Just wait. Age and experience beats youth every time.

And Aitch, I am so with you. Lucianne is becoming a paleocon hangout…and a hangout for dnc plants. Negativity, pessimism, whining, complaining…BUT we will not let them takeover Miss L!

Calling all positive thinkers! Unite to defeat this assault on our beautiful America. The war within is on the net. We will prevail!

This situation is nothing like the so-called “Travelgate”. Those people did nothing wrong, Hillary just wanted to replace them with Clinton flunkies. To call them slackers is a slander. But, all the Democrats do is lie.

  3. dennisa says:

This is an entirely fabricated non-scandal. The Democrats don’t care. They just want to see what they can get away with. Aided by their fellow Democrats in the news media.

    sooth:

Lam was not fired. Not being brought back is not the same thing as fired. Especially when you consider the fact that the President is under no obligation to keep any of these people on if he does not want to.

  5. Terrye says:

And you know something sooth, there is no reason to say Gonzales perjured himself. This is just a bunch of thieving, lying Democrats trying to cover their own asses by making a big deal out of nothing. Meanwhile they go on breaking the law.

  6. Soothsayer says:

there is no reason to say Gonzales perjured himself.

The guy said under oath that there were no political considerations in the replacements, and that the White House did not provide input.

The truth is, Karl Rove was up to his armpits in it – as was Harriet Miers – and Gonzales KNEW it.

    That’s perjury, dude.

  7. crosspatch says:

Prove it, Soothsayer. Just what exactly are you talking about? Lay it out. The onus isn’t on someone to prove they didn’t do something wrong, the onus is on the accuser to prove that they did. I believe you are perfectly within your right as a citizen, if you have proof of wrongdoing, to file a complaint. If you have such proof, that route might be more productive than venting here.

  8. Soothsayer says:

I don’t have to prove it – the congessional investigating committee will prove it – when Gonzales testifies under oath. Take it to the bank – Gonzales will be indicted.

    Meanwhile:

The media reports this morning that among Carol Lam’s politically powerful targets were former CIA official Kyle “Dusty” Foggo and then-House Appropriations Committee Chairman Jerry Lewis (R-CA). But there is evidence to believe that the White House may also have been on Lam’s target list. Here are the connections:

    – Washington D.C. defense contractor Mitchell Wade pled guilty last February to paying then-California Rep. Randy “Duke” Cunningham more than $1 million in bribes.

    – Wade’s company MZM Inc. received its first federal contract from the White House. The contract, which ran from July 15 to August 15, 2002, stipulated that Wade be paid $140,000 to “provide office furniture and computers for Vice President Dick Cheney.”

    – Two weeks later, on August 30, 2002, Wade purchased a yacht for $140,000 for Duke Cunningham. The boat’s name was later changed to the “Duke-Stir.” Said one party to the sale: “I knew then that somebody was going to go to jail for that…Duke looked at the boat, and Wade bought it — all in one day. Then they got on the boat and floated away.”

    – According to Cunningham’s sentencing memorandum, the purchase price of the boat had been negotiated through a third-party earlier that summer, around the same time the White House contract was signed.

To recap, the White House awarded a one-month, $140,000 contract to an individual who never held a federal contract. Two weeks after he got paid, that same contractor used a cashier’s check for exactly that amount to buy a boat for a now-imprisoned congressman at a price that the congressman had pre-negotiated.

    sooth:

    Good God you moron everyone of these people were indicted, the warrants were served etc. No one got away with anything. So that kind of makes your argument nonsense. {Now up in Seattle a lot of folks got away with voter fraud, but the winner was a Democrat so that makes it ok.}

And Gonzales might not have been aware of everything that Sampson was doing, but he did not perjure himself. There is no indication that these people were fired to protect anyone or anything else. And most if not all of them were Republicans anyway. The truth is you are making a charge without proof just for the sheer nasty fun of it.

Meanwhile the former Attorney General Janet Reno fires people to protect Clinton, his wife and his business cronies and there is plenty of evidence of that. Hubbel got a job with the Clinton administration in spite of the fact that he was a crook.

And at least Gonzales did not order an operation that left 87 Americans dead, most of them children. If the left could hang something like Waco on Bush I can not imagine the shrieking that would ensue.

So you are full of it, again, as usual.

Dennisa, you said it best. The Democrats do not care which of these “scandals” stick. They stir crap and sit back and watch their MSM work. They do not have a clue which campaign will work (the best examples to date have been Katrina/Wilson). They do not have to do anything but start another one while they are waiting.

That is why I stay so mad at the Republicans in Congress. It is such an open pattern that started on the original nominees. The Dems trashed each of them and the Pugs sat on their hands and allowed it. Even though the MSM has lost customers, most Americans still get their quickie news from TV. People are fooling themselves if they think otherwise. The MSM turned the public against Bush AND the war.

The Republicans lost the last election because Pug Congress would not get as nasty as their good buddies across the aisle. They preferred to be Ladies & Gentlemen and the Dem/MSM mopped the floor with them. Gonzales and Rove are like the last men standing. They MUST stay and the Pug Congressmen need to get out there and fight. Think of it as a proxy war for your seat. (BTW, I watched an interview with Sen Kyl……you are wrong Senator….you need to fight this battle as it IS the same as the war. You lose this and you might as well make Murtha the new Sec of Def.)
