Scratch One Chemical Weapon Bombing

Published by at 10:54 pm under All General Discussions,Iraq

It looks like the Iraqi focus as part of the surge plan is paying huge dividends (which is why you will never see this news in the cowering, liberal US media – but you can find it in the UK media):

Iraqi Police apprehended a suicide truck bomber and captured his vehicle, containing a large quantity of chlorine and explosives, when it failed to detonate in Ramadi March 23.

At approximately 1:30 p.m., a white cargo truck came to a halt near the entrance to the Jezeera police station, located about 150 meters from a water treatment plant. The police approached the truck for further investigation and detained the driver when they discovered the truck was rigged with explosives and the driver was attempting to detonate the vehicle.

Upon further investigation, the truck contained an unknown number of 55-gallon drums, which were used to camouflage five 1000-gallon barrels filled with chlorine and more than two tons of explosives.

This news deserves to be provided to the American people as a clear indication of our threat and luck and diligence. But the media is now simply a pay-for-propaganda business. It is not even accurate to call these partisan hacks ‘journalists’ and ‘reporters’ anymore.

I wonder if the politicians read anything but the NYT’s. They always sound so stupid, as if they are not interested in getting the latest information.

I have some issues with the details of the story.

5 1000 gallon barrels would seem to take up a bit of volume as well as a couple of tons of explosive and then 55 gallon drums to boot.

By sheer weight and volume this would have to be a semi trailer you would think.

    Just seems a bit questionable.

  3. AJ,

Consider for a moment the location and manner with which this chemical car bomb was captured.

    1) It was not in Baghdad.

    2) It was in Ramadi, a predominently Sunni area.

Al-Qaeda could not get this puppy past American and Iraqi security forces check pints to Baghdad.

They could not even get it past Iraqi security forces check points in Ramadi.

That means there are enough Iraqi security forces in the Sunni heartlands to chase terror gangs there.
