Surrendercrats Lose Big In Senate, Madness Reigns In DC

Published by at 5:11 pm under All General Discussions,Iraq

I have no idea what is going on in DC these days. Both sides seem hell bent on irrelevancy and posturing – not production. The Dems took a big spanking with a huge rejection of a bill calling for pulling troops out by March 2008:

The Senate on Wednesday rejected legislation that would cut off money for combat operations in Iraq after March 31, 2008.

The proposal lost 29-67 on a procedural vote, falling 31 votes short of the necessary votes to advance. Of the 67 senators who opposed Feingold’s proposal, there were 19 Democrats, 47 Republicans and Connecticut Independent Joseph Lieberman. Of the 29 supporting, 28 were Democrats and Vermont Independent Bernard Sanders.

The now completely laughable Sen Surrender himself (Majority ‘Leader’ Reid) had the most insane comment of the day:

“We stand united…. in our belief that troops are enmeshed in an intractable civil war,” said Reid, D-Nev.

United? 19 Dems opposed and 29 for is United???? What a clown this guy is. And speaking of clowns, I caught the news on CNN of a ‘huge defeat’ for Bush and the reps on another bill voted on in the Senate today.

An alternative offered by John W. Warner, R-Va., drew a 52-44 vote, but that was eight short of the 60 votes needed to limit debate. Warner’s measure would have set 18 benchmarks for the Iraqis to meet, with foreign aid withheld unless they made satisfactory progress by July 15 and Sept. 15. But the president could waive the sanctions.

So the Senate failed to pass benchmarks with financial punishments if Iraq did not meet them??? How CNN sees this as a defeat for Bush just shows what kind of madness now permeates DC from the pols to the talking head-clowns. As our military is puts their lives on the lines these jokers keep voting on dead end bills and irritating the American public to no end with their incompetent impotence. The spin has become so strained and stretched to create posture-filled empty messages one wonders if the country would be better off if we all seceded from the Union leaving DC alone to vote on useless measures in the fevered swamps of DC.

The Dems have brought 30 bills on Iraq since the beginning of the year, none have passed. The President asked for funding 100 days ago. Still no money for our troops. Biden says that he wants to keep this on the front pages of our newspapers every day until we change course. Maybe he thinks that’s a good idea, I think the people of this nation will get sick of this idea. MSM is only reporting one side of each argument, be it the war funding, the Gonzolles saga or what ever. I’m wondering if they are ever embarrassed??????

I agree with MacRanger regarding Comey’s disingenuous testimony. Mac’s not alone.

Anyone take a look at U.N.: Ban Vows to Boost Cooperation with Islamic Conference

OIC is based on Shari’ah law, which discriminates women.

    Time to get out UN.

All Bush wanted was a clean defense bill. So it’s most definitely not a defeat for Bush.

    I can’t believe they’re considering “Z Visas”….

I don’t see how this is a defeat for Bush, he is not the one trying and failing to pass all these bills.

Odds are increasing exponentially that disgraced AG Alberto Gonzales will soon be following in the footsteps of disgraced Paul Wolfowitz – albeit without the $375k golden parachute. A promise of a pardon is about the best Speedy can hope for:

In addition to the looming no confidence vote in the Senate and the prediction by the ranking minority member of the Senate Judiciary Committe that its investigation will end in Gonzales leaving office, comes the more troubling news that once again Gonzales seems to have perjured himself before Congress 9apparently a hard habit to break for the memory-and-integrity- challenged), and in a most clumsy manner:

Gonzales testified – just last week, for crying out loud – that the entire US Attorney debacle was limited to eight U.S. Attorneys. We know that’s not true— Todd Graves of Missouri was the ninth — but today it turns out that there were 26 US Attorneys being considered for replacement by Bush lickspittle lackeys or incompetent cronies.

This guy is so stupid he can’t even lie well.
