More Hypochondriac Misinformation

Published by at 3:22 pm under All General Discussions,Illegal Immigration

My site has been plagued by false claims of pending doom on the immigration issue. These false profits of doom keep emphasizing the empty rhetoric Bush so accurately called the immigration bill’s opponents on. For example, if you hear gang members and sex offenders are exempt (as many a Chicken Little posted in my comments sections) don’t believe a word of it:

The close vote on a proposal by Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, to bar felons—including those court-ordered to be deported—from legalization reflected the delicate position of the contentious immigration bill, which remains under threat from the right and the left.

The vote was 51-46 against the amendment. Democrats succeeded in sucking support from Cornyn’s proposal by winning adoption of a rival version that would bar a more limited set of criminals, including certain gang members and sex offenders, from gaining legalization. The Senate backed that amendment 66-32.

See, all that happened is the immigration hypochondriacs did not get their version of the amendment, clearly a better and more broadly supported version was adopted. The credibility of the shrill-seakers on right is toast. They keep making wild claims which are proved wrong and so they go onto making more wild claims. I guess Chicken Little is the wrong analogy. They are more like the little boy who cried ‘wolf’!

Oh and I am sure Chinese guy One Hung Low will get one of those voucher affidavits that he was actually born and raised in TJ , Mexico but he doesn’t speak the lingo and has a job offer from the FBI to be an Hispanic origin Mandarin Chinese interpreter.

Sen Martinez is on Washington Journal, he clearly hasn’t read the bill. He says nothing kicks in til the Border is secured. I would say he’s in LaLa Land except that if a name for Lafayette, La and that would be an insult to those fine people.

Labor Unions are fighting this bill for a simple reason. The language requires that zcard holders get paid prevailing wage (I wish I could guarantee my starting salary somewhere) and other benefits pile in behind that. Just what is left for a union to offer them?

I joined the Union and all I got was this lousy Tshirt!

BTW , I watch shuttle launches from my front porch, it only takes them about 3 or 4 seconds after liftoff to clear the tree line here and I don’t get a big crick in my neck watching and depending on the time of year I don’t have to deal with all the sand fleas down there just to watch.

I’m only about 50 miles away as the crow flies and if you are going down I95 you miss my place by about 8 to 10 miles.

    Interesting Tidbits:

The Senate voted yesterday to grant amnesty to hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens who have already been caught and ordered deported but are defying a court order, preserving their path to citizenship as part of the immigration bill.

The Senate voted yesterday to grant amnesty to hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens who have already been caught and ordered deported but are defying a court order, preserving their path to citizenship as part of the immigration bill.

But Sen. Edward M. Kennedy, Massachusetts Democrat, said they were only guilty of “common, garden-variety immigration offenses” that should not disqualify them.
“Our employers beg them to come back and our broken borders make that possible,” he said. And , So Do You Ted!

Other Democrats, including Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse, Rhode Island Democrat, said Mr. Cornyn’s amendment would remove due process rights for illegal aliens. But Republicans said those being affected are illegal aliens who are already in the country without authorization, and in the case of absconders have even had their day in court.
“Nobody has a constitutional legal right to demand entry into the United States,” said Sen. Jeff Sessions, Alabama Republican. “It amazes me the lack of understanding and comprehension of what it’s all about.” ME too!

Mr. Cornyn said it would still allow sex offenders and repeat drunken drivers to remain in the country and get legal status.

“We know what the game is. It’s not a free and open debate,” Mr. Sessions said after Democrats blocked an amendment by Sen. Elizabeth Dole, North Carolina Republican, that would have affected aliens convicted of drunken driving. Do You Get The Feeling, short of Murder, EVERYONE is Granted Amnesty?

Sen. Claire McCaskill, the Missouri Democrat who ran in last year’s election on getting tough on illegal immigration, voted to preserve citizenship rights for alien absconders. So did Sen. Jon Kyl, Arizona Republican, who during last year’s debate co-sponsored the same amendment with Mr. Cornyn. Ow The IRONY!

Sens. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina and John McCain of Arizona both went to check with Mr. Kennedy before casting their votes to match his. Soon after, Mr. Kyl also switched his vote to match Mr. Kennedy’s. BIPARTISONSHIP!!!

Republicans did score some victories late yesterday, passing Mr. Sessions’ amendment to deny the Earned Income Tax Credit to illegal aliens who gain legal status under the bill. They would gain access once they obtained green cards, which would be probably be at least a decade away. WE HOPE!

“If the Cornyn amendment is adopted, there are no individuals that are going to register for any of these programs, none,” he said. “This is a report-to-deport amendment.”
Notice what is important to Ted, dependence on Government Programs. Get the Hooked Early, they’ll vote foe YOU for life, and You and I pay the bill, how nice.

You Know I was thinking about the 12 people Stopped in Gastonia, NC yesterday. 10 were let go, left walking.
WHAT KIND OF MESSAGE DOES THIS SEND?
WHAT DO THEY TELL THEIR FRIENDS AND FAMILIES BACK HOME?
WHAT KIND OF MESSAGE DOES THIS BILL SEND?
DOES ANY OF IT SOUND LIKE WE ARE SERIOUS ABOUT STOPPING THE FLOW?
DOES IT SOUND LIKE WE ARE SERIOUS ABOUT ENFORCING OUR LAWS?
DOES IT EMBOLDEN THE ALIENS TO BREAK MORE LAWS?

If You show Weekness to Terrorists, does that not send a message as well?
Lot’s of messages being sent, to a lot of different people.
Does Iran see us as strong or Weak?
    Syria?
    North Korea.
I think with Aliens, we are not showing any seriousness, just like much of what we are saying to others.
Iran’s bombs and training are killing our soldiers. What have we done about that?
I think all around, we don’t come at things in a position of strenght.

Love some of the live blogging over at Michelle’s site last night

Sessions SA 1234 passed 56-41: Prohibits foreign workers imported through this bill’s new Y “guestworker” program and illegal aliens granted “probationary status” (i.e., amnesty) from claiming the Earned Income Tax Credit unless their status is adjusted to lawful permanent resident.

Reid SA 1331 passed 57-40: Prohibits any provision of this bill from having an impact on the Internal Revenue Code’s treatment of illegal aliens’ eligibility for the Earned Income Tax Credit.

    Dueling banjos anyone?

Now: SA 1272, Schumer amendment. Passes without debate. No text available.

Just how in the heck did they know what they were voting on, and IOU amendment.

    1. Any plan that can’t be enforced is no improvement.

    2. Poor and unskilled immigrants are expensive for the rest of society.
    3. A large supply of unskilled immigrant labor benefits some groups and hurts others
    4. There is nothing wrong in insisting that immigrants serve American interests, not vice versa.

    5. Citizenship is precious, and carries with it serious obligations.

    6. Border security is well within our grasp, and is a precondition for the success of any other immigration changes.
    7. Successful reform will come a step at a time, not all at once in a comprehensive package.

I can’t find a text of Cornyn’s amendment, but it was my understanding that it included those who have been found guilty of using fraudulent documents could not get visas to stay. Since the amendment failed, it means that the slug who us using my Social Security number all over the nation will not be prosecuted and will have a chance at citizenship (which he probably doesn’t want anyway) and will be allowed to stay.
In the meantime, no pro-illegal, pro-shamnesty bill proponent on this board has offered to help with my legal fees. I have only one recourse left, and that is to sue Mr. Illegal Slug in civil court. Anyone want to guess what it would cost me to do that when I am in Texas and he is in Boulder, CO (at least for now?)
Someone on this board told me to remember that it is not only illegals that steal identity. I would remind them that the theft of a Social Security number, in our p.c. society, is usually not necessary since people already have them to work. Yeah, they may steal your credit card number, which you can change and you can dispute the charges (I’ve had to do that as well) but you can not do a damn thing about your SS# being stolen by an illegal and SS will not help you.

Like I said, this bill is a travesty and for anyone to say that it is necessary for us to pass this bill is pure lunacy. We have laws on the books now. Employers CAN verify an applicant’s SS#. It is called the Basic Pilot Program and is offered in every state in the Union now. This bill will PREVENT employers from using the Basic Pilot Program for the simple reason it will subject them to discrimination charges. So we are not only going to legalize 12-20 million criminals, we are going to take away the one tool that honest employers now have to avoid hiring illegals.
So come on, AJ, biglsufan, tell me how this is a good deal for thousands of Americans like me.

I got to watch some of Hannity and Colmes last night. Frank Luntz was on. He had Focus Groups set up in N.H. for the debate. McCain had a lot of people in his camp before the debate. But after, he was abandoned. His IMMIGRATION Stance is killing him.
It showed these people talking and they all thought we need to SECURE THE BORDER FIRST. I really liked it when they showed these people. They just looked like average concerned Americans. No flames coming out of their mouths, no steam out of the ears. Did anyone see it?
They think McCain is a phoney, and want someone they think they can trust. Many Like Fred Thompson. It was very interesting, I’m glad I was home to see it.

It can not be done bro.

Should Not Immigration be a benefit to the Host Country?
Isn’t that how it is Suppose to work?

I guess my benefit is knowing that the increase in ALL my taxes down the road helped someone who broke the law to get ahead. Should I feel good about that?

15,000 Cases Still Pending From 1986 Amnesty

    http://www.washtimes.com/national/20070606/-112516-1895r.htm

The article also says that it will be immigrations choice on what documents to accept. Anyone want to guess, if they are still backlogged 21 years later, if they will take the easy road when approving these criminals?

  15. stevevvs says:

    Great Quote:

Consider two foreigners who were here on temporary visas that expired in December 2006. One of these individuals lawfully returned home upon expiration of his visa; the other chose to remain in the U.S. unlawfully. Under S. 1348, which of these individuals will be granted the privileges and benefits of citizenship? Answer: the one who broke our laws. Meanwhile the individual who respected our laws and returned home will remain abroad and will have little chance for citizenship. Is this fair? Of all the people in the world who wish to come to America, why should we feel compelled to grant citizenship to a group whose sole qualification is that they broke our laws?

Steve, I would say that the people in NH is slightly more liberal than those of the red border states. And yet, the amnesty thing was a deal breaker for them when it came to McCain. One person even said he voted for McCain before but would not now. It seems odd to me that a randomly picked group of about twenty people, who were all pro McCain before the debate, now are looking for a shovel to cut off the head of the snake. No one seemed to like McCain’s stance on immigration. Were all of these people “immigration hypochrondiacs”?

Oh, we will get a bill rammed down our throats. And when the tax burden gets so high that there is no point in working, people will wonder what happened. And don’t think our taxes won’t rise to pay for this illegal immigration amnesty plan. The Dhimmicrats already want higher taxes; this will be their prime excuse for raising them. How high can they go? How about 50%. When I worked in states that had an income tax, I paid over 35% in taxes when you combined federal, FICA, Medicare and state tax. By the time I covered my property taxes, sales taxes on necessary purchases, I was left with about 40 cents out of every dollar I earned.
What do I get for it? The road by my house if full of potholes. Police response time has doubled since we had a influx of illegals move in and the fire department announced that they were now facing a shortage of personnel. In a town where we never locked our doors (in the days before Angel Resendez) we now have nightly home and car breakins, the donut shop (owned by Chinese) was robbed by transient Mexicans, and crime, in a sleepy central Texas town is at an all time high. Hell, we even now have two resident gangs, both Hispanic.
But keep telling me this bill is a good thing. Maybe some day I will be befuddled enough to believe it.

I agree, they are more liberal. Which certainly was a positive sign.

Kris Kobach continues to do important work on immigration. From a piece today:

It is undeniable that our immigration policy is a central facet of our anti-terrorism policy. Virtually all of the terrorists targeting this country are aliens who need to be in the United States to carry out their attacks.
Unfortunately, the authors of the Kennedy amnesty bill don’t see the connection between immigration laws and terrorism. As a result, the bill creates two wide-open doors for alien terrorists.
