More Evidence Al Qaeda Losing Support In Iraq

Published by at 3:35 pm under All General Discussions,Diyala,Iraq

And yet we have some more indications al-Qaeda is losing support in their last large enclave inside Iraq:

Circumstantial evidence indicates al Qaeda in Iraq is weakening and popular support is swinging toward the coalition in Iraq’s Diyala province, the commander of U.S. military forces there said yesterday.

In a call with online journalists, Army Lt. Col. Morris Goins, commander of 1st Battalion, 12th Cavalry, Multinational Division North, said the fact al Qaeda is increasingly turning to kidnapping for ransom as a means of financing implies support for the organization is waning among the area’s Sunni population.

Al Qaeda “has to use the Sunni population to gain money to finance their operation,” Goins said. “In addition to that, they either torture them until they join the ranks, or they in some cases kill them.”

Its abuse of local citizens has cost the organization ideological support, Goins said. Increasingly, the shift has benefited coalition forces trying to secure the area.

“Al Qaeda, I think, is fighting to hold onto itself,” the colonel said. “I mean, obviously, if it’s attacking Sunnis and kidnapping them, that’s not a good thing in Iraq. So that’s a plus in (our favor).”

One way the public has expressed its frustration is by providing intelligence to U.S. and Iraqi security forces, Goins explained. Tribal sheikhs in the region are encouraging enlistment in the Iraqi police and army, he said.

As goes Diyala so goes Iraq, the Surrendercrats and the SurrenderMedia. Too bad the GOP had to implode over Immigration. They could have enjoyed the success, but now they are in tatters. And Bush will be looking good if Iraq does rise up against al-Qaeda. He’ll be looking damn good. As will McCain and Leiberman, BTW.

This is changing the subject, but nobody seems to b adressing this issue…The latest news bulletin is that the drug prescribed for Irritable bowel syndrome has killed a few people and is being taken off the market. It shouldn’t have been necessary for anyone to have to take a dangerous drug for this condition. There was an inexpensive drug which would cure the condition, not just treat the symptoms, but one of the first things Bill Clinton did when he took office was to take it off the market so the big drug companies could sell their $5 per pill acid reducers and other expensive pills which treat the symptoms, not the disease. . A thirty nice cent bottle of Paragoric would last a family for years since as few as three drops in a teaspoon of water would allievate most symptoms of heartburn, diahrrea, gall bladder disease, irritable bowel syndrome, and other digestive tract problems within hours. Paregoric was considered so safe it was routinely prescribed for infants by Doctors and had been used as a home remedy for years. Clinton took Paragroic off the market so the big drug companies could sell their $5 per pill acid reducers, and other chemical drugs which treated only the symptoms instead of the disease. Now we are being told that the new drug to treat Irritable Bowel Syndrome is killing people and is being withdrawn from the market. Nobody has reported the side effects of other high priced drugs but since they are made of chemicals there has to be some. Many have been taken off the market because of dangerous side effects.

Clinton’s excuse fo taking Paragoric off the market was that it had not been tested like new drugs have to be. The last time I checked, no tests have been done on it nor are any planned in the future. That was just an excuse to sell out the American public to the drug companies.

Since the Democrats constantly accuse the Republicans of selling out to big business, and especially tot he drug companies, someone needs to call their hand on this particular sell out. The American public has spent millions on these high priced drugs which have dangerous side effects, and most people don’t even know it wasn’t necessary.
