Man Battle Stations!

Published by at 12:07 pm under All General Discussions,Illegal Immigration

Just when the Immigration Hypochondriacs thought they had slayed the evil beast, news is out today that the beast may return in a few weeks and might actually survive:

Despite the fact that it was primarily Republicans who voted against the maneuver, all the GOP lawmakers who spoke with FOX News were upbeat that the legislation could be revived soon — even within a matter of weeks, with one negotiator noting that last year’s bill was first pulled from the floor by then-Majority Leader Bill Frist before it was brought back up again and passed.

Graham said he talked extensively with Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and is confident the bill will return for senators to take another crack at developing a comprehensive plan to legalize millions of foreigners living unlawfully in the United States.

“I know where the votes are for final passage. … We’re going to get this done,” Graham said, adding that the topic is not going to go away. “All I can say is, if you name a post office, you’re going to be talking about immigration.”

“There are ways we can do this,” Reid said later. “There can be an agreement on the number of amendments. Hopefully we can do that in the next several weeks. We’re very close.”

It is time for the hypochondriacs to man their battle stations! They need to prepare for battle. I suggest they bone up on calling fellow conservatives ‘traitors’ (one of the more ironic and hypocritical weapons they use). Remember to use labels like “RINO” and “alleged conservative” on your so called fellow conservatives. Practice your calls that the world is ending as we know it. Recount how great the current system is and how it will work. Just remind everyone to use those broken down ‘existing laws’ and all will be right again! And remember, at every turn, bash the leader of this country and of your party. GOP – it is time for you to shine again…. Destroy Bush before he can do anything that might just do some good.

Ugh. Someone wake me when these people are done pissing up stream again.

Update: The Anchoress seems to be dealing with victory-bile from those honorable and mature immigration hypochondriacs. If there ever was an example of going over the cliff it is wishing ill will towards the children of a lady as charming as The Anchoress. I am with her – glad to be marginalized from that cesspool.

Now AJ, you are being COMPLETELY disingenous!

My god man, what has happened to you?

What you posted above, HAS ALWAYS BEEN THE CASE!

I explained it to you three times today, in different posts, already today!

Besides, they NEVER voted to KILL the bill; they voted on “CLOTURE”!

That’s it; that means the bill was NEVER DEAD; the ONLY person who “threatened” the bill, was HARRY REID, and he “tabled” it out of spite.

It’s always been alive, it was never killed off, and I told you repeatedly so this morning; which means all they have to do, is have Reid put it back on the calender, and debate it some more, and work on it some more, and amend it some more!

C’mon AJ, c’mon man, this is no good, what you are doing….

  3. AJStrata says:

    Dale,

I know what cloture means – don’t insult my intelligence. And if they did not ‘kill the bill’ why are they claiming they did? Semantic games won’t fly. What am I doing?

LOL! Now that should be obvious. Especially if we have another vote coming.

  4. DaleinAtlanta says:

AJ: you’re being senstive again, because we disagree with you!

I never said you didn’t know what “cloture” meant, never said it, never implied it, I was making a statement! Thus, I am NOT insulting your intelligence; I made a statement; I did not say you didn’t know it was.

Who is the mysterious “they” that said they killed the Bill?

Any one who knows what cloture is, and who knows the rules of the Senate, knows that the Bill is NOT dead, it’s was just left open for debate, and vote was NOT forced on it, that’s open.

Any decision to “table” it lies solely with the Leader of the Senate, Harry Reid, and the bill is still open to debate, and/or amendment, any time he chooses to put it back on the calender.

And, by the way, that’s what I HOPE truly happens, as I AGAIN made clear today, in all my posts!

So, I personally, have not played any semantic games with you, nor anyone, though it is not clear if you are referring to me, or “others” with that comment.

Your last comment I don’t understand at all; are you saying that because of your post/analysis whatever, that you actually helped another vote to come along?

  5. AJStrata says:

Thanks Dale. And no, I presumed it would die off until I read the articles about confident statements coming from Graham and Kennedy.

    What am I doing?….

When you find out let me know.

  6. Jacqui says:

This bill will need some structural changes before it has any chance of going anywhere… even if it got through the Senate support in the House is not strong.

Kennedy screwed up the immigration process in 1965 and he has sponsored ten other immigration bills since then that were going to solve the problem and only made it worse. His track record is not good.

  7. DaleinAtlanta says:

Well, despite all the rhetoric from the Tancredo’s and the other fringes out there, I DO think that it is in everyone’s interest to get a Good bill done; problem is of course, who get’s to define “good”.

For me, it’s not Tancredo, and it’s not Kennedy, and it might not even be McCain.

But I find my own position fairly close to Sessions and Shadegg, though I doubt they will get all that they want!

  8. biglsusportsfan says:

    Man the Battke Stations LOL

Navarette that is the best journalist on this issue did a piece on McCain but of course it was around the immigration issue.

    I love this part
“Pandering for votes on this issue, while offering no solution to the problem, amounts to doing nothing. And doing nothing is silent amnesty.”

McCain is right again. If Congress gets bogged down by the nitpickers and fails to enact meaningful immigration reform, the world won’t end for illegal immigrants. They’ll still wake up at 4 the next morning and go to work just like they did the day before.

Nothing will change. No one will be fined or brought into the system, or held accountable in any way. That’s amnesty.”

Not sure if back paced off the page before I hit submit

ANyway this is something I attempted to post. Reuben Navarette one of the journalist on this had this to say in part. It is a MCcain piece but it tlaks about the issue
“To want the office so badly that you would intentionally make our country’s problems worse might prove you can read a poll or take a cheap shot, but it hardly demonstrates presidential leadership,” McCain told the group.

“Pandering for votes on this issue, while offering no solution to the problem, amounts to doing nothing. And doing nothing is silent amnesty.”

Fight silent Amnesty Pass Comprehensive reform

By the way I just LOVEEEEEEEEEEEEEE Sen Lindsey Graham. He is the type of Senator that you think models the greats

  11. Terrye says:

I read the Anchoress. Nice of some of those caring true blue Americans out there to wish ill for her children. After all, it is not as if she has a right to her opinion or anything.

I have to say that I think if you gave the hardliners the option of solving this problem or keeping it alive, they would opt for the latter. They get off on this fighting and raving and hating. I have seen a side to some people that I do not like and I won’t forget it either.

  12. satrist says:

just heard Senator Kyl on Michael Medved’s radio program. How refreshing to hear someone discuss with sanity the immigration bill.
Too bad the people who needed to hear him are probably listening to
    Laura, Michelle and the rest.

Thanks to whoever first mentioned The Anchoress web site yesterday. What a delight she is and what a wonderful writer.

  13. conservativered says:

We are not giving up,” said Sen. Edward Kennedy (D-Mass.), one of the key architects of the deal. “We are not giving in.”

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) had tried to force the Senate to wrap up debate and vote on the underlying bill. However, the effort fell 15 votes short of the 60 needed to succeed. Republicans strongly criticized Reid for the move, arguing that they needed more time to offer and discuss amendments.

Kennedy appeared to concur to a certain degree.

“The United States Senate, I believe, is a chemical place,” he said at a press conference. “There’s a flow to activity here. The tide comes in and goes out. And once in a while, the stars get lined up correctly, and we move ahead. That moment can’t be manufactured. And it always takes more time than you think.” …

    What a moron!!!!!!!

  14. Terrye says:

    biglsu:

It is defacto amnesty. Nothing will change, business as usual. Eventually the fence will get built. Of course the hardliners say otherwise, but time will tell. If it does will that admit they were wrong? Of course not.

If and when that fence goes up however, it will change nothing for the millions here. Life will go on just like always.

  15. satrist says:

the hardliners also keep lying about how many miles of the fence have been built. They claim only 2 miles have been built when, in fact over 80 miles of the fence have been built.

  16. DaleinAtlanta says:

Satrist: I personally don’t know how many miles of the fence have been built, so I’ve never quoted any figure, but I would be interested in knowking where you found the 80 mile figure?

If it is correct, good; if not, I’d like to know who’s putting out a bogus number?

  17. Retired Spook says:

Yeah, Satrist, but I hope we’ve hired a new contractor.

  18. hehe….AJ you have been one of the primary name callers and your petulance would be funny if it weren’t so sad. But of course YOUR name calling is ok because you are doing it to support the RIGHT course.

And yes we will defeat whatever else comes up as well before the Government PROVES that it is serious about border enforcement and workplace enforcement. Till then all the promises by the Kennedy’s and McCains of the world amount to nothing more than a politicians ploy.

    Dale

Michael Medved said it on his show today and he’s given me no reason up to this point to not believe him. I also heard Senator Kyl say it when he was on Medved’s program either last week or the week before.
