I have banned a few regular readers for going too far and insulting the host (more than once). For those interested in a second try email me at ajstrata@strata-sphere.com for a new password on your accounts.

    Well if you banned some regulars that you perceived stepped over the bounds, then I hope you took out the troll trash during your housekeeping.

    In fact on review of recent posts the trolls by an independent look would probably be considered the most abusive based on a reasoned review of the comments.

    I suspect the key here is the phrase the Anchoress has in her intro: “I believe decent people can disagree and still be decent people.” Indecent people not only don’t add to the discussion, they sour the debate for everyone. I can only take so much of people who are constantly looking for the black spot in a silver cloud. It must just suck to live one’s life always dwelling on the negative, and those who fit that description, and then pile verbal abuse of the host on top of it, certainly won’t be missed by me.

    Wasn’t me. I stay away from insults because the host can ban at will. Even though I’m a crybaby for wanting the same respect in return. Oh well, just wanted to tell AJ that apparently his Texas poll was all wet. Both of my Senators have listened to their constituents and will be voting no on cloture.

    Yep, we had a major BDS-afflicted Lefty here in the office; and every day, she would email me stuff about Bush/Cheney; I mean she was a loon who would make “Sooth” and “Center” look rightwing by comparison.

    Bush was so evil, he was the second gunman on the Grass Knoll type of thing!

    I mean it was certifiably crazy, basically, and she was like this, even before 9/11!

    So, one day, she actually sent me an email, complaining that the Jobless Claims had gone down, Unemployment had gone down, and this just wasn’t “fair”, because it would make Bush look good, and that he was doing a good job on the economy, etc.!

    Like I said, completely and thoroughly nuts!

    Anyway, I was busy, and in no mood, so I wrote back and told her; you know, I’ve finally figured you Leftists out; for you to be Happy, to have a good day, the following has to happen:

    Americans have to lose their jobs
    Americans have to get killed in Iraq or Afghanistan
    Bad things have to happen to America somewhere, somehow, anyhow

    I said that’s pathetic, but that’s the only way your happy; what a sad way to live your life, but that’s the agenda of you Leftists!

    She didn’t reply, and a few weeks later, she left the company; she said the company was “hostile” to “Democrats”, and she couldn’t work in the environment!

    It’s true though; look at the delusional world that complete Nuts like “Sooth” and “Center” live in: American is the most evil country in the world, Bush is the most evil President ever; they truly cannot be happy, unless Americans are losing their jobs, Americans are getting killed by the Jihadis, the Jihadis win all their battles against us, etc.

    Isn’t that a pathetic way to live?

    I have always viewed you as maybe at the most “strident” but always pragmatically factual based.

    Sooth on the other hand has recently up the adjectives to almost pure abusive. Review his recent posts.

    Sometimes I think to many here are not realizing the fire that AJ puts forth is not mainly directed at his commentors but more toward the extremists that don’t even post here.

    Yes he may differ in opinion from even some of his regular posters , but more so I believe he tends to be trying to shoot past some and they believe they have been hit. I will agree he has gotten a little snarky and sharp with some of the regulars, but that only expresses his conviction and I do wish it could be reduced.

    YMMV.

    Just so you know:
    At some point I want to donate to your site via the tip jar. Currently, I’m broke! Two weeks ago, I worked 2 days. Last week, I worked two days! This week, the whole week! It’s been slow where I work. On top of that, I’ve had 2 pay raises in the last 7 years. The last in 2005. With my 2nd shift premium, I make just over $15.00 per hour. My only “Luxuries” in life are dial up internet and basic satelitte service. I drive a 1998 Dodge Dakota with pealing paint, I never eat out, and cant afford much. I do buy 2 books at a time from Amazon about every 2 months.
    Over the winter I tried to find a new job asking for a starting salery of $15.00 per hour. I filled out 20 applications, with resumes with the City, County, local Hospital, and several local businesses. I got absolutely Zero replies! I have an AAS Degree in Computer Electronics Technology, and had a 3.41 gpa.
    Granted, I tried within a 15 mile radius of my home, but, I would like to not drive a long way to work! Most of the people I work with have experianced similiar results. In fact the company that does Security where I work, were told they had to take a PAY CUT to keep their jobs. One Guard told me his pay went from $10.75 to $10.25 per hour. My company was just baught by a competitor. Rumors are, we too, will have to take a PAY CUT to keep our jobs. I hope this is not true.
    Sure, I could sell my home and move somewhere else, but I’ve moved 8 times in the last 20 years, and I’m all moved out! And I could go back to school too, and I’m considering that. At 44, I really would like to avoid it.
    So, in short, I feel guilty not sending you money for my posting. But until something changes, I just can’t. It looks like this year I will make less than any year sense 1999! Judging from many I work with, I’m not alone. But it is MY FAULT! I CHOOSE to look close to home. I’m not blaming anyone but me.

    I have a different issue

    Just before Paypal was bought out by Ebay on the 4th of July they took a database hit that scrambled a bunch of accounts.

    My wife had one of multiple bank accounts I ran at the time and she had a cross linked account drag 40K out of her bingo playing account at one on line bingo site.

    We recovered the money from PayPal with assistance from our bank but then they shut down all accounts we had and PayPal is a no go for me.

    It wasn’t just a one victim situation. PayPal denied it but is is still the subject of a class action suit with about 22,000 in the class.

    Oh an like the gal who was dragging all that cash out of our account didn’t realize she had a windfall of money with no reductions to her bank account with all the money she was playing with.

    Yeah, I got that.

    My Dad sells on ebay, and has had pay pal problems as well.

    Like I said, I blame no one for my situation. But in my area, there just are not any employer left who do what I do. In 2000, my Employer had 5,120 employees, and over 1.4 million feet of Manufacturing Space, occuping 5 buildings. By 2003, we had 723 employees, and one building of around 430,000 feet of space. We shipped most of our work to Mexico and China. We are a Contract Electronics Manufacturer. When the resession hit, our Customers looked to cut costs, so they would not have to raise their prices. So, off the work went to the 3rd World!
    My degree is now basicly useless, as I don’t do any computer related repairs. Computers have changed dramaticly sense I graduater in 1997. I’ve been an electronics Technician for 9.5 yrs. at my current employer. I test circuit boards, and repair them when they fail. These jobs are gone in the states, or reduced to the point where there are so many looking for them, your chances of getting one anywhere are slim to none.

    Thanks to AJ for being considerate, I enjoy this site and I will say I went overboard on that post. We do have to consider that he takes hits from lots of people and has good reason to get a little ticked off at times, just as we all do. I frequently see comments from various people that if they were addressed to me, would be a little too much, so I guess patience truly is a virtue.
    Gee, I’m a little disappointed that all the regulars didn’t miss me, but then I sometimes go away for days at a time anyhow.
