al-Qaeda is facing defeat in the middle east as Iraqis rise up against them. So far al-Qaeda’s efforts have been fruitless in Iraq, Afghanistan and Lebanon. They have only won a useless and wasted strip of land called Gaza which is more of drain than a strategic base for operations. As expected, the cornered and pummeled animals are lashing out trying to stave off more embarrassing defeats. But they are much weaker than the days of 9-11 and the London and Madrid bombings. Now they have gone low tech and low yield as they attempt to sow fear with Jeeps and Mercedes Sedans:

Police made a fifth arrest today as they hunt the terrorists responsible for attempted car bombings in London and Glasgow.

The latest arrest was made in Liverpool, while Scottish police were searching a house in Glasgow as part of a nationwide operation. Police are investigating two failed car bombs in London’s West End and an attempt to ram a Jeep into Glasgow airport yesterday.

The Prime Minister has blamed al-Qaeda for the attempted bombings and warned that further attacks would follow.

Don’t get me wrong, these murderous thugs can still kill. And they will target the innocent and defenseless. Partially to maximize their terror, but also because they are not able to mount as many large scale attacks as before. We see this now in Iraq, where we still get the occasional massive slaughter of Muslims, but overall the attacks and death rate is well down.

The problem al-Qaeda is facing is it’s tactics are very much anti-Islamic, and stink of cowardly acts versus acts representing a brave and honorable class of warrior. But more than that is the fact al-Qaeda has been bombing Muslims in the ME for years now, making that area sympathetic to what is happening in Europe. There will not be cheering in the streets at bombs going off in London as much as sympathy for the victims and total disgust with the perpetrators. al-Qaeda is not giving Islam hope, it is soiling it with the blood of innocents and the stench of fascist brutality. al-Qaeda is close to unravelling, destroyed by its uncontrollable need for violence and the fact the West stood up and offered an easily preferrable alternative.

Sadly, we have not finished making it through the hell that will demonstrate once and for all the petulance that is al-Qaeda:

Gordon Brown urged the public to continue “living their lives as normal”, but admitted that further attacks linked to al-Qaeda were likely. “We can expect that they will use different forms of missile or weapon or different forms of activity, whether it is planes or cars, to inflict damage,” he said. “It is clear that we are dealing in general terms with people who are associated with al-Qaeda.”

Mr Brown raised the threat level in the UK to “critical” last night, the most acute standard of alert, which indicates that MI5 believes a terrorist attack is expected “imminently”.

I for one am worried this Fourth of July may be too tempting a target for the twisted, evil goals of the Islamo Fascists. I plan to enjoy the shows, and be ever vigilant.
