Lieberman Has It Right On Iraq

Published by at 7:59 am under All General Discussions,Iraq

Lieberman has exposed the fact that the Surrendercrats are dangerously wrong on Iraq:

“I think either [Democrats] are, in my opinion, respectfully, naïve in thinking we can somehow defeat this enemy with talk, or they’re simply hesitant to use American power, including military power,” Lieberman said in a wide-ranging interview with The Hill.

“There is a very strong group within the party that I think doesn’t take the threat of Islamist terrorism seriously enough.”

See the following posts below (and here and here) for more on why he is dead right.

Lieberman and the other Kool-Aid swilling cheerleaders of George Walker Bush\’s disastrously stupid and incompetent foreign policy continue to mislead . . . let\’s all sing along: Everything\’s coming up Roses in Baghdad . . .

    meanwhile, in the reality-based community:

After Admiral Mullen pointed out yesterday that only so much can be done to prop up the Iraqi-puppet regime militarily . . . and that the future of Iraq depends on Iraqi\’s working out a political/diplomatic solution . . . Reuters reports the main Sunni Arab political bloc quit the Iraqi government on Wednesday in a blow to Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki\’s shaky coalition as suicide bombers killed more than 70 people in three attacks across Baghdad. The resignation move pushed the government into a new crisis undermining its efforts to reconcile Iraqis and end sectarian strife.

Maliki\’s government has already been weakened by the withdrawal of fiery Shi\’ite cleric Moqtada al-Sadr\’s political bloc, one of the biggest in parliament, over his refusal to set a timetable for the withdrawal of U.S. troops.

The coalition is under pressure from the United States to end sectarian strife between Shi\’ites and Sunni Arabs, which has killed tens of thousands. Washington is unhappy at the slow political progress in reconciling the warring sects.

In more bad news for the Surge braintrust and fanclub, AFP reports:

Thunderous car bomb blasts echoed around Baghdad on Wednesday, killing at least 70 people, as Iraq\’s national unity coalition collapsed under the weight of sectarian tensions.

New government figures also revealed civilian deaths in the country rose by one third last month, dealing a further blow to a five-month-old security plan (the Surge) designed to stabilise Baghdad and allow for reconciliation.

At least 1,652 civilians were killed in Iraq in July, 33 percent more than in the previous month, according to figures compiled by the Iraqi health, defence and interior ministries and made available to AFP.

Meanwhile, the US military said four more troops were killed on Tuesday, bringing US losses since the March 2003 invasion to 3,653, with 83 killed in July, according to an AFP count based on Pentagon figures.

    Sooth,
Adding to your “mea culpas”, Admiral Mullen clearly didn’t refer to the freely elected Iraqi government as a “puppet regime.”
And regurgitating the MSM”s litany of difficulties adds nothing new to the conversation.

It will be interesting to see how long Admiral Mullen lasts in your “reality based community.” (sic)

He sounds pretty real to me . . . and I quote:

There is no purely military solution in Iraq . . . no amount of troops in no amount of time will make much of a difference.”

    Soothie:

I bet you did a little jig when you heard the Sunni bloc backed out {again} and there was even some violence. I can see you there with a ghoulish little cackle getting all excited while you cherry pick the words of one general and ignore the words of a dozen others who do not say what you want to hear.

What do you want for Iraq, soothie? Murder, despotism, misery?

    Pathetic.

The truth is we do not know what it means if the Sunni bloc bows out. It could be a death knell for the Maliki or bargaining. And the truth is your desperate hoping for death and mayhem like some vulture is really disgusting.

  8. Terrye says:

BTW soothie, I heard one military commander say that they expected spikes in casualties in Iraq as the terrorists try to get more support going here in the US for a withdrawal of forces. How does it feel to know that AlQaida considers you an ally. What is the point in invading Pakistan if you are just going to hand them Iraq on a silver platter. And how many more young Americans have had to die because people like you give hope to the enemy?

And just who is a civilian?

Soothiesou the banshee once a ghoul always a ghoul. Get into your LLL robes and pray to what ever you worship that we pull out of Iraq and turn our backs on the Iraqis just like the Democrats did to the South Vietnamese. You are so giddy with the idea of a blood bath in Iraq so that you can point and say if Bushitler hadn’t invaded none of this would have happened that you can’t even stand up with out showing your excitement. You are a ghoul hoping for death, destruction and misery just to make a political point. The Iraqis aren’t people to you, they are numbers and 30 second slide shows to point and say, “Look Bushitler did this, he’s evil, peace, love, and look the other way man!!!!” You are what our enemies pray for every night, you disgust me. And the saddest part is you unfortunately are what the troops are fighting to protect, sickening.

Uh – you might want to check who was in the White House when we pulled out of Vietnam. Guys’ names were Nixon and Ford as I recall.

You are so giddy with the idea of a blood bath in Iraq

Hello, idiot — there’s already BEEN a bloodbath in Iraq. First under Saddam Hussein, who we helped install in Iraq and provided with arms and cash – even after he had used poison gas (learn some friggin’ history) – and then with George’s invasion – and the deaths of 655,000 Iraqi civilians that would not have happened had we not invaded.

Sothiesou so frothy and giddy he’s stuttering. Learn your history boy Dem congress pulled all funding from South Vietnam after we withdrew with the promise we would support them, that we wouldn’t leave them swinging in the breeze. We did what the “peace” activists wanted, gave the North a victory they won in the news. We withdrew our troops and promised to help fund the South so as to defend itself against the North which was being bankrolled by the Communists. The Dems couldn’t even hold onto that promise they soon cut funding to the Souths defense which showed the North that we would do nothing if they invaded. Which they did, the South Vietnamese Army with no funding eventually collapsed and the rest is history, a blood bath for the ages in Vietnam and Cambodia. Look in the mirror Southiesou and ask how Dems can stand themselves. Your party knows one thing, surrender. Ah man war is tough lets just talk and make deals and sell ourselves out.
Oh I get it since we helped Saddeadam get where he was we should have just ignored what he was doing since we made him evil???? Your thinking is flawed. If you make a mistake what do you do about it? I have a feeling I know what you do, sweep it under the rug and blame some one else. But most of us own up and fix the mistake. That’s what we did, to quote a great movie “we fixed the glitch” he won’t be feeding any one into chippers again, and he won’t be bankrolling terrorists.
“For 400 what is a fatally flawed report Alex.” 655,000 dead Iraqi civilians buzzzzzz. I know why the left begs for this to be true. It’s so they can point and say look we’re not the only ones with the blood of millions of innocents on our hands. Well got news for you bucko your party is the one with the blood of millions of innocents, and the worst part is the ones you killed we’re friends and allies. Your party is nothing but traitorous back stabbers.
I love tough guy talk on the internet, I’m an idiot and I guess next your going to beat me up and take my lunch money???
