Democrat Congresswoman Walks Out Of Hearings On News Of American Successes In Iraq, Tancredo Plans To Nuke ME Ally
Want to know how bad the Surrendercrats, er… Democrats, are taking the news that the new US strategy is working in Iraq? Check this out. As military officers were sharing the news that the US was making clear progress in Iraq – not to mention that Iraqis who once harbored al-Qaeda had taken oaths on the Koran to fight al-Qaeda and purge them from their country because of the atrocities al-Qaeda inflicted on these same Iraqi Muslims – one poor freshman Surrendercrat just could not face all the good news and walked out of the hearings!
It’s tough being a member of Congress. Even if you’re in the majority, as is Democratic Rep. Nancy Boyda of Kansas, you never know when your ears may be assaulted by outrageous and offensive ideas.
Like what? At a recent hearing of the Armed Services Committee, retired Gen. Jack Keane said “progress is being made” by U.S. military forces in Iraq; “We are on the offensive and we have the momentum,” he added. The freshman congresswoman was so distressed by these remarks that she got up and walked out.
There was “only so much” she could take, she explained, so she “had to leave the room … after so much of the frustration of having to listen to what we listened to.” She said she was worried, too, that General Keane’s remarks “will in fact show up in the media and further divide this country.” Hey, that could happen!
The news of American success was just too much for the ol’ gal to deal with it seems. Well, maybe she should stiffen her resolve because she has a lot more to face in the coming weeks. For instance, she must be all torn up that the result of The Surge now in full action is reducing US military casualties to a new low for this year:
The death of a marine in western Iraq brought the American military death toll to 74 so far in July, on course to be the lowest monthly figure this year.
The reduction follows a record 331 fatalities from April to June during intensive military operations in Baghdad and Diyala Province, according to Iraq Coalition Casualty Count, a Web site that tracks military and civilian casualties based on Defense Department figures. That was the deadliest quarter of the war thus far.
…
Estimates of the death toll varied, but Iraq Coalition Casualty Count put the July total so far at 74, down from 101 in June and the lowest number since November 2006.
And the poor, confused and despondent Democrat Congresswoman from the proud state of Kansas will have to also suffer through news like this, where we have captured and killed more al-Qaeda leaders in Iraq who must be finding it impossible to hide out now that the Iraqi people are rising up agonst al-Qaeda and its murderous ways:
Iraqi troops killed a local Al Qaeda warlord and US soldiers arrested two of the extremist network’s chieftains, during several operations announced Thursday in the wake of deadly bomb attacks.
…
A militant known as Safi, touted as Al Qaeda in Iraq’s emir of Mosul, was killed in a shootout with Iraqi soldiers on Wednesday after he and two cohorts were spotted driving in the country’s third largest city, the US military said.
An Iraqi unit gave chase and halted the vehicle. Safi and his bodyguards jumped out and opened fire. Iraqi troops returned fire and the three members of the Al Qaeda’s Iraqi affiliate were killed, the US Army said.
Note these were Iraqis who noticed these murderers, ran them down, and faced them down in a shoot out. That is a strong indicator of what is happening in Iraq today. Democrats like Boyda should not feel like they are the only ones in history to give up on a war right before success was to come their way. Tony Blankely noted yesterday’ that the Neville Chamberlain wing of Parliament also thought of quitting in the face of the Nazi onslaught back in the 1940’s, before we turned that war around:
On June 25, the following resolution was tabled in the House:
“That this House, while paying tribute to the heroism and endurance of the Armed Forces, in circumstances of exceptional difficulty, has no confidence in the central direction of the war.”
That would be June 25, 1942. The House would be the House of Commons in London, England. And the government in which no confidence was expressed was that of Winston Churchill.
Wanting to quit too soon is a human trait too many of us share. Seeing things through to the end is the rare trait that makes great leaders. My sympathies go out to Rep Boyda. She has to face the possibility America will succeed in Iraq and al-Qaeda’s loss there will cripple the movement for decades to come as the news of their atrocities and how the Muslim Iraqis stood up to them spreads. It will be tough for her to see this success through.
The purveyors of the latest holocaust (al-Qaeda Muslim killing other Muslim) will pay a heavy price for all the Muslims they have been slaughtering in order to get TV time in the US and Europe. This must be truly earth shattering to Rep Boyda, who clearly came to Washington to oversee our demise in Iraq, not a success. Her career and her world are falling apart in front of her eyes. Best to run from the public spotlight.
Don’t get me wrong. There are equally idiotic GOP members in Congress as well. Just as we see a sea change shift in the Muslim world against al-Qaeda’s brutal tactics, just as we see opinion polls finally showing dramatic drops in support of suicide bombings, just as Iraqis across the country swear on the Koran to fight al-Qaeda and liberate their country from its blood soaked grip,
Before he became a candidate for president, Tom Tancredo was telling Americans that the U.S. should threaten to bomb Mecca if Islamic terrorists successfully detonate a nuclear device in America.
…
“If it is up to me, we are going to explain that an attack on this homeland of that nature would be followed by an attack on the holy sites in Mecca and Medina,” the GOP presidential candidate said, according to IowaPolitics.com. “That is the only thing I can think of that might deter somebody from doing what they would otherwise do.
Idiot. That is what Bin Laden and Zawahiri WANT us to do. They want us to kill massive numbers of Muslims in holy prayer so as to incite the global jihad. This is the dumbest thing I have ever heard, except maybe Obama’s plans to invade a nuclear armed ally (Pakistan). There is a reason they phrase ‘overkill’ was created, to explain fools like Tancredo. Tancredo is just as dangerous to this country as Boyda – maybe even more so. We have the Muslim street turning our way because al-Qaeda does the kind of mass killings Tancredo is sanctioning. The stupidity of this man is just breath taking. Even if he is 500th in line to the Presidency that is too close. It should be noted Tancredo does out do Obama – he wants to NUKE an ally in the region (Saudi Arabia). Obama only wants to invade an ally.
The Democrats underplay al-Qaeda’s dangers and underestimate our strength and position in Iraq – how we can succeed. They cannot muster the will to see this through. But wild, out of control nuts like Tancredo don’t have the patience to see it through either, and propose quick and ugly solutions in the childishly naive belief the world will bow down in awe of us, instead of rallying to destroy a trigger happy nuclear power. It is very, very important that in 2008 Americans stay away from the far left and right fringes. It could mean our very existence.
At least Nancy Boyda is getting the national attention that she does not want.
Where were Reid, Voinovich and Lugar under the table hands over their ears, after all we’ve lost and must surrender. Fools to bet against the U.S. military.
Are you all sure this “CongressWOMAN” wasn’t our favorite Nutbag Leftist poster here, “Bootlicker”?
It would just be like Her, to walk out of somewhere where there was good news about Iraq being disseminated!
Tancredo made that retard statment on June 17th, 2005
That is 2005.
That is over two years ago…
That doesn’t make him any less of a moron, but…
Actually I heard that Tancredo made the same statmenet again.
And when push came to shove Lugar did not vote for withdrawal. He might have wanted the administration to change their direction and go more toward the Hamilton Baker plan, but he did not support the complete removal of troops.
