Faulty Iraq News

Published by at 1:16 pm under All General Discussions,Diyala,Iraq

To illustrate the ignorance of the media at times regarding Iraq check out this mistake in an article concerning events in Iraq:

Also in Anbar province, another US marine died on Tuesday in a non-combat incident, the US military said Thursday.

Baquba, the capital of Anbar province, is some 60 kilometres north of Baghdad.

Actually, Ramadi is the capitol of Anbar Province, Baquba is the capitol of Diyala Province. Given this article has these basic ‘facts’ wrong, what can we conclude about the rest of the content? Primarily the media is trying to report about Iraq from half a world away from it. No wonder they don’t understand what is happening there.

You do realize your post title is redundant I am sure.

I saw an article yesterday that described Baqubah as an “al Qaida stronghold”. I about fell out of my chair. If that is how you describe al Qaida strongholds, then we don’t have a THING to worry about. “former al Qaida stronghold” I would go along with.
