Hypocritical US Congress

Published by at 6:56 am under 2008 Elections,All General Discussions,Iraq

What is the latest foolishness out of our defunk and impotent Congress? The US Congress, which has not been able to accomplish much at all (except grudgingly and with great wailing fixing the mess of FISA so we can detect potential attacks by monitoring our enemies overseas), is now lambasting the Iraqi Parliament for being just as impotent as the US Congress has been this session (recall they too have no solution for Iraq). And they give some advice too:

Declaring the government of Iraq “non-functional,” the influential chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee said yesterday that Iraq’s parliament should oust Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki and his cabinet if they are unable to forge a political compromise with rival factions in a matter of days.

“I hope the parliament will vote the Maliki government out of office and will have the wisdom to replace it with a less sectarian and more unifying prime minister and government,” Sen. Carl M. Levin (D-Mich.) said after a three-day trip to Iraq and Jordan.

So, the incompetent US Congress wants Iraq to vote out their incompetent leaders? Sounds like a good idea – something Americans will be doing the November after next. With approval ratings 80-20 against (or higher) I can see America cleaning house of all that old, dusty dead wood and bringing in fresh, innovative and savvy people to get things done as opposed to scream at the other side of the aisle all day (and night) long. Talk about the kettle nagging the pot!

Dang! What a great idea, AJStrata!

How about term limits? Ya think America is ready to replace the majority in Nov. 08? Guess Derbyshire (?) was right after all by saying that we should allow the Democrats a sweet November 06 win and give them a 2 year test to make the Americans see the real Democrats. Ya think the Americans are seeing through them? If only the Republicans would learn their lessons by going back to their principles by now?

Just saying…….how is it that an American public official and Senator, comments for MSM, in public, about who should represent a sovereign country. Such crass arrogance is usually ascribed to the other party.

Captain’s Quarters thought Levin was out of turn when speaking about the political measurements of the Iraqi government parliament. Levin and Warner were there just for 2 days????

Derbyshire is almost always out of line, and he was out of line this time. Telling people to sit home and let the other guy win is crazy, because believe it or not there are people in the country just like that other guy.

The problem I am having is that I don’t think the desire to kick the bums out is just something people are feeling about the Democrats. I think it is a bipartisan kind of thing.

  5. Terrye says:

And I have heard the same thing from some conservatives about Maliki, they think he was not hard enough on the militias.

AJ, what a great and effective way to frame this whole kerfuffle.

Levin made some mildly complimentary remarks about our troops and the surge, so he had to balance it with this over-the-top nonsense. Yawn.

About the D man. Just typing his full name is more effort than he is worth. The guy is poison.

My previous post was supposed to start with AJ’s quote, which I meant to then say is a great and effective way to frame the whole kerfuffle:

[So, the incompetent US Congress wants Iraq to vote out their incompetent leaders?]

Upon second review, yup it’s still greatly effective.

There are the dems, still trying to be the President. I am pure sick of them trying to shift foreign policy for their own agenda which is definitely not what they were elected to do. The surge is working and they realize it so they have to start trashing the Iraqi government in order to say we are losing the war.

The Dem’s closeness to Soro’s has corrupted their minds. He takes down economies to make himself richer, the Dems are following the cheese from the Maze Master in the hope of funding their Communist/Socialist Paradise. Selling out American Independence to serve at the foot of and Evil with plans for global dominance. Dems, infiltrated since at least the 60’s.

The little statement from the Vaunted Idiots at the headline desk which causes me to pronounce them all idoits is ” xxx Admitted that Policy YYY failed (was ‘Rong etc). When are these/those going to ADMIT that thay don’t have a clue how to parse the language honestly?

  12. Terrye says:

Maliki responds and tells them all to kiss his butt. He says he can find friends elsewhere. So much for diplomacy.

  13. lurker9876 says:

Gee, I don’t blame him! I say good for him to begin standing up for himself.

  14. lurker9876 says:

And he is right that our own government had no right to set timetables on the Iraqi government. How will Carl Levin feel about someone else setting timetables on himself, especially in the 1700’s? How long did it take to build our own Republic Democracy 250 plus years ago?

God Bless America for infinite number of years of United States of America. Our goal is to beat the records of the Moors’ control over Spain.

Hey, don’t forget to include that turncoat Sen Warner into the mix. One of the few things I disagree with AJ…..his opinion of the Gang. I am all for getting things done and moving ahead, but not for this particular move.

I made phone calls over some of these issues. Spoke to Warner’s office….back when….and delivered my opinion of his ‘new’ politics. If you have been watching him, you had to notice the old turncoat.

And this was one of the Senators that I had respected. Ha….shows what I know, huh? After forming the Gang, that old preening fool (with the hair, doncha know) immediately went on Hardball. Yep. He said ‘if you can’t stand the heat, you need to stay out of the kitchen’. What he was doing was a direct stab into George W Bush. This has been the problem from day 1, this bunch of backstabbing Pub Congressmen…….especially the good Senators.

Yahoo is currently (once again) running this old, preening fool’s comments. I expect to see them stay up in some form for a week or more.

These creepy, congress critters sat on their hands and kept their mouths shut when Bush was so popular. They stabbed by not lifting a finger in those committees. Soon as they saw daylight, they crawled into the light. Put Warner on the eject list as one of the most full of himself.

  16. BarbaraS says:

Warner has now come out with getting out of Iraq by September 15. What is this? A pact between these two guys who were in Iraq for 2 days? Some days it seems congress and especially the senate is selling the US down the river.

  17. owl says:

BarbaraS….my observations. I have been watching this old coot. He turned. A long time ago but just wouldn’t crawl out into the light.

ABC is almost in 7th heaven this morning. That preening fool that pronounced that ‘yes, it’s my own hair’ is exactly like the MSM. So much of his damage has been done with his loud Silence (when he could have come out and helped us) ……and then he creeps out on such as this. Not his first time.

So why now? Why let it be said that the ‘top important Pub’ has went public the month before the Gen’s report?

This is what has been wrong with our ‘power’. Bush is worth 1,000 of these Supervisors. They sit up there and rub elbows with their good friends for decades. Then comes along a little ‘young, upstart President’ that does not kiss their azz and act as if their word is from God.

Look who Warner sided up with in a crisis. Levin……the man behind the curtain. Levin pronounced on FOX that the UN should be the Decider about Iraq when Bush was trying to get the UN to do something to help us. This is the power duo that agree to just bounce the power back and forth between themselves. Sick. This is the perfect example of what is so wrong with even giving Congress a voice, much less a Supervisor role, when they are allowed to sit there and become Kings over the decades.
