Pelosi Bemoans Antics Of Liberal Anti-War Base
I have to laugh at Pelosi’s recent moanings about the base she and the demagogues created by their over-the-top rhetoric and exaggerations. Since they created the monster they have no place to complain about a mob mentality on the left that is now rampaging all over the Dems and Reps equally.
[Pelosi] “I had, for five months, people sitting outside my home, going into my garden in San Francisco, angering neighbors, hanging their clothes from trees, building all kinds of things — Buddhas? I don’t know what they were — couches, sofas, chairs, permanent living facilities on my front sidewalk.”
Unsmilingly, she continued: “If they were poor and they were sleeping on my sidewalk, they would be arrested for loitering, but because they have ‘Impeach Bush’ across their chest, it’s the First Amendment.”
…
“We have to make responsible decisions in the Congress that are not driven by the dissatisfaction of anybody who wants the war to end tomorrow,” Pelosi told the gathering at the Sofitel, arranged by the Christian Science Monitor. Though crediting activists for their “passion,” Pelosi called it “a waste of time” for them to target Democrats. “They are advocates,” she said. “We are leaders.”
Yes, the dems WERE the leaders who created this monster. This is why it is not wise to base your politics on the emotion and anger of the mob. Mobs almost always get out of control and then go into a destructive (or self destructive) mode. This is what happens when you convince a large number of people, who are not well informed in the first place, that there are Nazis and the like taking over the country. By exaggerating the situation the Dem ‘leaders’ created a fear in their base which is now screaming at them to stop the nightmare at all costs – including their political careers.
It is another example of why hyperventilating on matters of import is a mentally lazy and risky way to garner political support. I am not equating anyone with Nazis with this next observation, but it was the Nazis who mastered the use of fear and anger to create a mob mentallity and give them the freedom to take extreme measures. It is not a model we want to make part of our societal debate. Those who run on emotion rarely stop to think or look, they just keep running until they are spent of their fear or anger. And then they are usually horrified as they look back at what was done.
The old Dexter Manley phrase comes to mind:
” we did a 362 degree turnabout”
I think the DEM leadership and top Presidential candidates received a briefing on what happened in the Syrian desert with Israel and it was nuclear, litterally. The genie is out the bag and the DEMs are scared and rightfully so.
Best quote from Jo Ann Davis: At a “victory” breakfast for the republican candidates running last year she said……”If I have to listen to Nanci Pelosi…*mumble**grumble*…” My favorite line. Jo Ann Davis will be sorely missed.
Crzy,
I am hoping we will get a post up on Jo Ann Davis from someone who knew here soon.

Chickens do come home to roost, don’t they? I thought it was amusing when Cindy Sheehan turned on Pelosi. There was a wackjob out of control.
I think both extremes have done this, but the Democrats more so by far.
Don’t know if Pelosi is familiar with the Tipping Point book. She may have just had her personal tipping point:
Yes, Nancy, in spite of your efforts to enable the Bush Administration’s assault on the Constitution, including taking impeachment off the table, that pesky First Amendment still exists.
Wonder if Cindy Sheehan plans to change the decor in your office?
