Syrians Admit To Nuclear Facility Being Attacked By Israel

Published by at 2:42 pm under All General Discussions,Syria

Seems some frustration at the UN led some Syrian diplomats to admit, albeit off the record, that they did indeed lose a secret nuclear facility to a recent Israeli air raid:

The Israeli delegation to the talks, headed by Miriam Ziv, the Foreign Ministry’s deputy director general for strategic affairs, accused Syria of smuggling mass amounts of weapons into Lebanon in violation of the UN Security Council’s resolution. In response a Syrian representative said Israel was the aggressor and mentioned its attack on a “nuclear facility.”

People without liberal blinders on would note the facility was of course secret, or else it would be part of the UN’s inspection program (Syria is supposedly a signed member of the UN non-proliferation treaties). And there is only one reason to keep such faicilities secret. And it is not to hide a covert power generation plant (the physical connections to the power grid are a dead give away on these types of facilities).

Since Congress is so impotent at the moment maybe Speaker Pelosi can take another trip to Damascus and meet with her buddy Bashir Assad?

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said Wednesday that Syrian President Bashar Assad assured her of his willingness to engage in peace talks with Israel.

Nuclear weapons facilities do not spring up over night. So it is clear while Assad was promising peace with Isreal he was establishing one of the world’s most dangerous threats to Israeli security. If ignorance is bliss then Speaker Pelosi must the happiest person on the planet.

Israel’s nuclear facilities and weapons programs are of course secret as well, or else they would be part of the UN’s inspection program.

    So Israel can’t bomb them?

Geeze – talk about the big lie. This NEVER happened. Stories of a Syrian offical admitting during a United Nations meeting that an Israeli air strike hit a nuclear facility in September are baseless
and the result of mistranslated comments ascribed to a Syrian diplomat alleged to have said “Israel took action against nuclear facilities, including the 6 July attack in Syria.”

The UN has since gone through the tape recordings of the meeting and found there was no mention of the word “nuclear” at all, the error was one of translation, involving several interpreters translating the same meeting.

Certain right wing blogs continue to make allegations claiming a nuclear weapons facility was hit — something that the Syrian government has denied, the Israeli government has not officially confirmed and US intelligence does not confirm.
