The War In Iraq Is Now For The Heart Of Islam In The Middle East
We cannot leave Iraq right now, the future of the Middle East and the rest of the world is literally at stake. We have made a lot of progress in Iraq, and the people of Iraq have made a choice to side with a Western styled democracy and alliance with America. This decision was not trivial, it was in response to al-Qaeda’s relentless atrocities against the Iraqis. And since this turn of events al-Qaeda has been systematically destroyed.
And now it is repeating a pattern we saw in Anbar and Diyala provinces as the tide turned against it – it is attacking its fellow Arab Muslims in an effort to reestablish some control in Iraq. The war for the heart of Islam is raging right now in Iraq and we need to make sure the moderate side wins this war if we want peace in OUR future:
At least 14 Shia civilians have been killed in an attack by al-Qaeda militants on a village near the Iraqi city of Baquba, officials have said.
Local residents said 60 gunmen launched the raid on Duwailiya, 18km north of Baquba, shortly after daybreak.
The attack came as figures suggested the number of Iraqis killed in bombings and shootings was continuing to fall.
Iraqi officials said 606 civilians and security personnel died in November, continuing the trend of recent months.
The data, compiled jointly by the interior, defence and health ministries, showed that 537 civilians, 45 police officers and 24 soldiers were killed.
The figures mark a significant fall from the 887 Iraqis killed in October.
al-Qaeda is heading towards a date with destiny wherein it will be the modern day equivalent of Hitler’s Nazis – a scourge on humanity. al-Qaeda has turned the entire country of Iraq against itself through these very same kinds of brutal acts. And we see these acts in response every time al-Qaeda is being pushed out of one of their sanctuaries, they go after the locals for not protecting or heeding them.
We cannot let al-Qaeda regain any toe hold in Iraq. We need to protect those Arab Muslims now aligned against al-Qaeda. Those Muslims now on OUR side who will fight those bloody maniacs behind 9-11. Here we are a little over 6 years from the horrors of 9-11 and we have one of the largest, riches, most literate Arab nations in the Middle East fighting along side us in common cause against al-Qaeda. We cannot run from this opportunity – especially to gain votes from a vocal yet totally delusional minority back here in the US who simply cannot grasp the reality we are living in right now. We must help Islam take the peaceful path into the future with us. We cannot run from our responsibilities to the future generations who will suffer wars and terrorism and horrors if we let this opportunity to slay al-Qaeda slip by.

I don’t know if I would really want to go there that they are picking sides on a style of government yet.
These people have had 30 or 40 years where the only government they knew worked by the simplistic method of putting a cocked pistol up to their head.
They have had a couple of wars with Iran where lots of their families were killed and now they have had another war waged in their country that got even more of them killed.
Right now just living and surviving is their priority….government type choices will come later.
And they will probably accept whatever they have got and say it’s better than the last one. At least for a long while before they get an itch.
I’m not sure how it will turn out……..but there are some good signs, and I think it depends how long we stay to help out.
Al Sistine has asked for unity, that is huge as he is respected by the Shea and many Iraqi’s.
Neighborhood watch, standing up for those who you know is something we did not see in the beginning.
We are helping many Iraqi’s to help themselves.
Some in the Shea block have welcomed Iranian help……many thousands have sent a letter to ask them to stay out and respect Iraqi boarders.
The Petraus strategy is working on many levels, military, political and getting infrastructure working and small businesses up.
There is a lot to do and we will need to stay for many years with maybe 50,000 military and many more state department, and others.
But to give the country over to radicals can not possibly enhance our security, it will save money to be given to health care, education etc. but if we have another attack it doesn’t matter about the rest. Only a near sighted person could think otherwise. Unfortunately there are many in this country who can’t think past the “me” thing. Fancy fighting for the life of our country and thinking it cost too much money that we need at home…….my first thought is certainly one needs a home to care about first.
The other argument that I hear is we are spread too thin. We need to bring our guys home so we can have flexibility to take on other hot spots. Could someone talk about some place hotter then Iraq where we might send troops? Surely we are not sending troops to Pakistan, China, Iran, North Korea, Venezuela. No they just want the troops home. War is not something that the Dem do.
Any one who sits in the Oval office is going to be confronted with situations and they are going to have to make decisions given the information they have. I think most Presidents will not act differently then President Bush did. The programs that the Dems complain about, NSA, Gitmo, rendition (clinton did also), harsh interrogations of very specific detainees, the next President will protect this country with every tool available within the law. So the Dems are big fakes, my only wish is that one of the Presidential candidates would stand up and say so. Run it down for the electorate.
