Top Sunni Terrorist Nearly Caught – Large Intel Find

Published by at 9:38 am under All General Discussions,Iraq

The last of Saddam’s top thugs was almost captured overnight, but US and Iraqi forces did find a treasure trove of intel regarding his work with al-Qaeda.

The former vice-president of Iraq, Izzat Ibrahim al-Douri, has escaped from forces who had cornered him in an overnight raid.

Al-Douri managed to escape the raid following intelligence reports that he had organised a meeting in a village east of Tikrit city, about 170 km north of Baghdad.

The former top Saddam official, who is on the U.S military most-wanted list, managed to evade capture by hiding in a secret space.

Nevertheless, forces allegedly seized some important documents which describe al-Douri’s links with al-Qaeda and other insurgent groups in Iraq.

They must be hot on his heels, or else they might not of noted the intel they found. If they nab this guy it will be a critical blow to the Iraqi insurgents. My guess is they and al-Qaeda have both worn their welcome out in Iraq by now and have the population ready to turn them in. More here. Interestingly in this second story the plans for al-Douri and al-Qaeda only covered killing Iraqis – no plans for attacking US Troops. Bet the Iraqis will love to see that from the Jihadist heroes.

Wonderdful news out of Ramadi. The agricultural and law colleges are starting to get up and running again.

Although the Bill Kellers of the world delusionally insist things are going badly in Iraq (for them it is) is there really any doubt that the end of this mission is now in sight?
