Air America, Thieves and Liars?

Published by at 3:02 pm under All General Discussions

I had not really stepped into Air America scandal that has been well documented by Michelle Malkin and others – mainly because the baffoonary of a third rate media debacle is not really world shaping news. Air America was doomed from the git-go, and how it flamed out was not really of much interest to me. Needless to say, the thought it would crash with dignity never onced crossed my mind. So I am not surprised in its ugly demise now unfolding. Many liberals have for some time been willing to break laws to stop the political tides turning against them. I am not shocked, therefore, when more and more liberals begin crossing ethical lines.

But there does come a point when one should at least add their voice to the commentary. I decided the time was now when I read this great summation from Macho Nacho’s, linked from Michelle Malkin’s site.

Every day that the Times allows this to go by is another day they are tacitly saying that defrauding a public charity is no big deal, so long as it is done by those with a liberal agenda. Every day the bloggers and other national newspapers discover this story while the Times remains silent, the virtually non-existent credibility of the Grey Lady takes another serious hit.

The concept that the Gray Lady has any shred of credibility left is laughable to me, but hats off to Nacho’s for giving them another shot to redeem themselves. The ‘Lady’ has become a partner to her liberal ‘handlers’ who expect her to go out on the streets and strut their stuff. This was established prior to the 2004 elections – which simply put the last touches on this sordid rag.

What is important is this

We are currently into day 11 of the breaking of the Air Enron scandal. To date, we have seen:

Three official statements from the city DOI, all of which directly contradicted:
Several mad-dash-to-safety statements by the owners of Air America
An official investigation launched by Eliott Spitzer into the misappropriation of funds by Gloria Wise
Zero mentions of any kind in the New York Times of somewhere around a million dollars being diverted from the funds of a New York based charity into the coffers of a New York based radio conglomerate.

My predictions are this will mean nothing, except indictments for stealing money for the big boys and girls at Air America to line their pockets. When you add in the fact payroll is not being met, as reported at The Radio Equalizer, there is very little chance Air America will survive the fall. Personally, I think the big club will be a liabel suite from ADP – the nations largest and most professional payroll company. The stupid attempt to blame ADP will not go unnoticed or unanswered.

Here is a recent news piece that illustrates how Air America will crash into the putrid swamps of its own makiung. It really paints how ugly this picture has become.

Mr. Franken said that around the time of Air America’s launch in March 2004, Mr. Cohen said the radio network could survive for three years without making a profit.” It turned out to be three weeks,” Mr. Franken said. “We were all shocked.” Mr. Franken said his most “charitable” interpretation of the Gloria Wise transfers to Air America was that Mr. Cohen had a “dream and tried to keep it going.”

Members of the Gloria Wise executive committee described to the Sun transfers from the club to Mr. Cohen and to Air America that totaled $875,000. They said Sunday that one reason Mr. Cohen cited when asking for personal loans was that he needed money for chemotherapy because he suffered from brain cancer.

Mr. Franken said he did not know whether his former colleague had the disease, but he recalled that Mr. Cohen, a native of Guam who is 39, referred repeatedly to it. For example, Mr. Franken said, he’d complain to Mr. Cohen that studio equipment wasn’t working, “and he’d say, ‘You know, I have brain cancer.'”

“Brain cancer,” Mr. Franken said, “seemed to be his answer to everything.”

Franken’s total lack of class is a perfect example of why liberal idiocies like Air America will always fail. They never reach out to the best in us, they only reach out to the crudest, most cruel in us. There is nothing for the majority of average, every day people to find pleasant or inspiring to rally to. Therefore these efforts are doomed to ugly failure from the start.

Hasn’t the left said that Air America was a huge success? Then why not pay the whole bill free and clear? Show the right that your a success…come on. What a joke.
