Lost Posts And Comments
I am more than a little pissed off with my web hosting provider. They lost a disk and did not back up our data since December 25th – which means we lost two days of posts and comments. Sorry for this, no one is madder than I am. If someone has an RSS feed of the posts saved please send us an email at ljstrata-at-strata-sphere.com. This might save the posts but will do nothing about all your wonderful comments. Oh well, new year and maybe a new hosting company.
On the way to lj address
Thanks Merlin – I was wondering if you had those. I owe you one big time.

Sorry I didn’t have it configured to save comments too, but it seems to be all or none on comments not a case by case basis..without a bit of extra tweaking and with over 430 blogs in the reader now thats a bunch if I blanket turn them on.
Otherwise the blog has to offer the comments as a separate RSS feed and not many do that but then still the comments would be spread among all the blog posts in chronological order and even just selecting your blog only some comments for example would show up later than a following post and it may be hard to link which one went with which post unless it gathers the url along with the comment.
My main reason for having the reader is it saves all the posts and as it gathers them for all the blogs it indexes all the nouns and such in the database so searching on a word is lightning quick even on a year of past postings.
I can pop back 500 matches in under a second.
It really saves either having to form up a site specific search query in a search engine or working your way through the archive on the blog to find the post that you remember reading but are not sure just which blog you saw it on.
Merlin,
I am just glad you had them you old packrat!
I am sure if folks want to re-enter their comments they will do so.
Me a packrat…well you may have a point with the 720 TB backup last Sunday of all my servers.
Lots of DVD disks piling up here.
I want a Blue Ray writer and media for 50 gig per disk instead of 8.
My full backup in my cycle of planned backups hit on it’s normal rotation.
Now back to incremental and differentials for a while.
Gonna be a bit busy next month. I’ve got a new PC arriving.
IBM Z9 EC S38. Now that’s a big boys toy.
