Bin Laden Begs Iraqis To Stop Defeating His Thugs

Major Update: The Iraqis Bin Laden is begging to stop destroying his movement (in Iraq and in the Muslim world in general) as posted below have now publicly challenged Bin Laden to stop murdering Muslims!

An Iraqi US-backed tribal council Sunday called on the leader of the Al Qaeda terrorist network Osama bin Laden to order a halt to attacks on Iraqi civilians, media reports said.

Bin Laden issued a new audio message Saturday apparently aimed at stemming the tide of Sunnis joining Iraq’s political process, a US-based monitoring group said.

‘Osama bin Laden should order members of Al Qaeda to stop targeting and killing Iraqis and apologise to Iraqi citizens harmed by acts of the organisation’s members, who have committed the worst crimes against them,’ said the tribal Awakening Council of Salahaddin province in a statement.

‘It is regretful that acts committed by bin Laden’s supporters, which are against the principles of Islam, make non-Muslims look at Islam as a religion of bloodshed rather than one of justice, peace and dialogue,’ said the Salahaddin council.

The statement was dismissive of bin Laden’s claims that the councils were set up in pursuit of money and power.

To all of those who claim Muslims need to stand up to al-Qaeda take notice of this act. To all those who say Iraqis must take control of their destiny and must stand on their own against terrorism take note of this act. Because this is a checkmate move by the Iraqi Awakening leaders in one of the last areas infested with Bin Laden’s butchers. If the attacks continue then there will be a legitimate and popular uprising in the Muslim community against al-Qaeda. If Bin Laden concedes and hostilities end then the Iraqis will have simply forced al-Qaeda’s final surrender and defeat in Iraq. Either way al-Qaeda loses and Iraq and the US win. Checkmate – end update

Osama Bin Laden has released what can only be seen as to stop defeating his bloody butchers in Iraq. The day the Iraqi Sunnis turned on the jackboot thugs of al-Qaeda they changed history in the Middle East – and Bin Laden knows it:

The top U.S. commander in Iraq said Saturday al-Qaida was becoming increasingly fearful over losing the support of Sunni Arabs and had begun targeting the leaders of tribal councils who have switched allegiances in favor of America.

“The most evil of the traitors are those who trade away their religion for the sake of their mortal life,” bin Laden said in the tape posted on the Web.

“Our duty is to foil these dangerous schemes, which try to prevent the establishment of an Islamic state in Iraq, which would be a wall of resistance against American schemes to divide Iraq,” he said.

“They attach enormous importance to these Concerned Local Citizens groups, these tribes that have turned against them, and to the general sense that Sunni Arab communities have rejected them more and more around Iraq,” Petraeus told a small group of Western journalists.

As I noted in the post below al-Qaeda promised to turn their pending defeat around in a campaign of bloodshed against Iraqis. Instead they have not been able to stop the progress of success in Iraq as we have marked another month of declining violence, this with a huge 50% drop in US deaths taking December to the lowest violence ever in Iraq. That is a double defeat in my mind and it is again becoming embarrassingly obvious that to still deny the depth and breadth of success in Iraq is to be totally out of touch with reality.

I think when he notes the lessons learned from the Surge successes (which would not have happened without the Iraqi Awakening and its successes). My favorite line is this one:

George W. Bush, like Lincoln, took his time finding the right generals. But it’s clear now that the forward-moving surge strategy devised by Gens. David Petraeus and Raymond Odierno has succeeded where the stand-aside strategy employed by their predecessors failed. American troops are surely the most capable military force in history. They just need to be given the right orders.

The right orders, faith in them and support for them. But to me the most important lesson is to never bet on America losing unless it is absolutely impossible for her to win. Both Bin Laden and the Far Left in this country went out on their own political limbs assuming America would be beaten. And it is now they who stand on the pile of the defeated while America, once more, stands tall in victory. They bet all their credibility, and their place in history, against America and lost. I am not surprised, only shocked in all those who are shocked to find out we are really that good a bet and that good a choice.

Gotta agree with a lot of that.

About the only thing of new interest was that Al Jazerra wasn’t used as the normal pipeline allegedly due to combined pressure from the US, Saudia Arabia and Dubai.

As a result OBL and #2 Mr Z had not a lot of good words for them. Also was the lack of Adam G the American from the picture partially resulting in the lack of English subtitles on the latest release.

I also noted the lack of significant commentary on Pakistan even with all the trouble brewing there at the same time frame as the production of the video.

Not only are we winning in Iraq, but we have said to these Butchers, attack us again in our homeland and we have more where that came from. And I think that was the point that the President was always driving home, and why we had to win. Thank you Mr. President for not reading the polls, when you did the right thing for America there are enough of us that appreciate your steadfastness.
