Even if vouchers were provided , one issue that has to be turned around is the attitude by many school age African American students that working toward an education is 'giving in to the man' or 'you're trying to be too white' which provides negative peer pressure within the community.

If this can be reversed and roll models for other students can be formed , not with super star CEO's of color, but gainfully employed skilled workers and middle managers who have achieved blue collar or white collar success and show by example that accepting personal responsibility to succeed and family unit stability are better than what is offered by the 'I'm cool and better than you' wrong examples to follow.

dhunter:

I think the voucher system would be good, especially in some places, but it should not take a voucher system to make the schools work. There was no such system when I was a kid and somehow I managed to get a decent basic education.

I think the Republicans and the Democrats have something of the same problem with Huckabee and Obama. Democrats have used the black vote for years. They counted on it, and yet they never seemed to think they would have to deal with a serious African American contender.

Republicans have used the social conservative vote, they courted it and counted on it and took it for granted as well. They never thought they would have to deal with a serious Evangelical contender. Or that if they did the contender would be someone like Bush.

Actually I think that she has decided to go with the Hispanic vote instead. It is bigger. But if she is left standing, beating Obama, has she thought what she going to do then?

Shes' not as worried about the southern African American votes as she is the white money bags and white dem union voters straying off her plantation to take sides with Obama.

The dems have always been racist only keeping the African Americans beholden to their big gov't handouts and using them like they own them.

Real compassion is a hand up, a real education in private schools with vouchers not more programs and perks for stayin where their at.

She/he has to play the race card to let the white dems know whats expected of them.
