Clinton Not Too Confident In SC Win – Must Be Something In The Exit Polls

I would guess exit polls are telling a bad story for Clinton in SC since her campaign has released a memo this evening that says forget SC, look to FL.

Regardless of today’s outcome, the race quickly shifts to Florida, where hundreds of thousands of Democrats will turn out to vote on Tuesday.

Despite efforts by the Obama campaign to ignore Floridians, their voices will be heard loud and clear across the country, as the last state to vote before Super Tuesday on February 5th.

This remains a delegate fight, with 1,681 delegates at stake on February 5th, and 2,025 needed to secure the nomination — and we are ahead in that fight.

As Senator Clinton has said from the beginning, we have built a national campaign with the resources to compete and win across the country.

I hate to tell this to Hillary, but Obama is going to get a huge bump in SC and her lead in FL is probably in jeopardy. Contrary to the talking heads an Obama win – even a small one, though it will not be small – is a big deal.

Update: Looks like African-Americans came out in huge numbers, which bodes well for Obama:

Two groups that have been heavily courted in the run-up to today’s South Carolina Democratic primary – women and African-Americans – are turning out in large numbers today. Preliminary exit poll results indicate that just over half are blacks this year; if that holds in final data later tonight, it would be the highest turnout among African-Americans in any Democratic presidential primary at least since 1984.

There are discussions about what happens if Hillary comes in 3rd due to blow back against Bill Clinton. Fox is saying this could be the story of the night. Ouch! Another exit poll number on Fox says Bill Clinton had influence on only 25% of the voters, and among them it was a small benefit to Hillary. I am thinking it is a horrid night for Hillary.
