NYTimes Keeps Trying To Surrender

Published by at 1:04 am under All General Discussions

What is it with the NYTimes? One day away from the unveiling of the new Iraqi constitution giving rights to all faiths and to women as people – not property – and the editorials from the left are a desparate desire to lose before we actually achieve something

Someone Tell the President the War Is Over

By FRANK RICH
Published: August 14, 2005
LIKE the Japanese soldier marooned on an island for years after V-J Day, President Bush may be the last person in the country to learn that for Americans, if not Iraqis, the war in Iraq is over.

To this day it’s our failure to provide that security that has turned the country into the terrorist haven it hadn’t been before 9/11 – “the central front in the war on terror,” as Mr. Bush keeps reminding us, as if that might make us forget he’s the one who recklessly created it.

Rich forgets the whole point of Iraq was to fight in the ME, not in the US. Poor desparate, pathetic Frank Rich. The opportunity of our defeat is swiftly passing by and now he can only hope we surrender before we actually succeed. To want to lose so bad must be a terrible life to lead, and be remembered by. Rich will be the one who was memorialized for all time as the man who needed the US to lose, so he could win.

Sorry Frank. You will just have to be on the losing end of this one.

UPDATE:

Obviously Frank’s silly attempt at surrender monkey has left just about everyone scratching their heads – including the folks at Powerline:

Much as he and his fellow left-wingers can encourage our terrorist enemy, and they do, they don’t have the power to bring about America’s defeat. Notwithstanding endless hectoring from Rich and his fellows on the fringe, there is only one man whose views about Iraq will really matter for the next three and a half years. His name is George W. Bush, and he isn’t going to cut and run. Nor can Rich and his ilk significantly impede the efforts of America’s armed forces.

But one can admire the egotistical boldness of these liberal fantasies by a hack writer (who is way overpayed) who believes he could over rule the President of the US of A, and our Military, and the will of the Iraqi people simply by yelling ‘boo’!

Now that’s Rich!

Hey AJ–First, congrats on that NRO mention/link other day. That’s the major leagues. Good work.

Of all the liberal columnists, Frank Rich is the one whose stuff I really have a hard time getting through, maybe even more than Ted Rall. Rich is so relentlessly wrong, starting with a thesis from outside reality, like the one you’re commenting on, then building to the point of fevered dementia. It’s almost like a kind of sci-fi.

As I wrote in a rebuttal to one of his columns, “Rich’s work evidences just how detached from reality a life spent primarily as a pampered theatre critic can leave a man.”

Thanks – it was something to be listed ahead of Morrissey, Malkin and The Anchoress. Not sure what to do for an encore.

Rich and Rall are the worst of a pretty lousy lot. I tend to avoid both, but couldn’t resist the headline. I couldn’t read the whole thing end to end – it was too embarrassing. Given his level of isolation from reality I am guessing Dowd and Rall would be the only two friends the man could possibly have.
