Obama Tied To Iraq Oil? Connecting Random Dots

Published by at 11:35 am under 2008 Elections,All General Discussions

This is too funny not to post. Connecting random dots can lead to interesting patterns, of course are simply speculation, or even simply a Rorschach test to see patterns that are in the mind’s eye. So let me be clear, these ‘dots’ could be coincidental – or they could be something else. It revolves around the Rezko issues with Barack Obama, which basically questions the shady company he keeps. What caught my eye at first was this post by Dan Riehl which linked Rezko to bribes into Hussein’s Iraq regarding oil:

In a footnote to a motion last week seeking to exclude some government evidence against Rezko, his defense lawyers disclosed for first time that prosecutors have alleged that Rezko paid a $1.5 million bribe to Iraq’s former electricity minister to obtain a contract in that country. The alleged bribe was paid from an escrow account held by Bryan Cave, prosecutors said.

Emphasis Dan’s, and he is linking to this story. My eyes caught the last line which notes the escrow was held by a law firm. A law firm with ties to Obama. Some simple googling and you find the firm Bryan Cave has ties to Obama’s campaign:

Other K Street players working to build momentum for Obama are former Sen. Tom Daschle (D-S.D.), a consultant for Alston & Bird; Broderick Johnson, president of Bryan Cave Strategies LLC; Mark Keam, the lead Democratic lobbyist at Verizon; Jimmy Williams, vice president of government affairs for the Wine & Spirits Wholesalers of America; Thomas Walls, vice president of federal public affairs at McGuireWoods Consulting; and Francis Grab, senior manager at Washington Council Ernst & Young.

No big deal yet, except when we learn Broderick Johnson is a lobbyist interested in such things as Texas T, Black Gold, “oil” that is:

Broderick Johnson, a friend and informal political adviser, heads up the lobbying arm in Washington of the Bryan Cave LLP law firm, where he represents Verizon and Shell Oil, among other clients.

So we have Obama associate Tony Rezko bribing Iraqi energy officials using an escrow account from another Obama campaign member, who has a professional and financial interest in oil. And the left says Bush and Cheney deal with Iraq based on oily greed?

BTW, is it any surprise Broderick Johnson also was on the John Kerrey campaign and is married to someone at NPR? His biography shows him to be a stalwart liberal who has made living on the left side of the aisle in DC. I am not suggesting he did anything wrong, or Obama did. But what would happen if a Dick Cheney consultant’s firm had been charged as part of a bribe to Hussein’s regime, and it related to energy? Not hard to imagine what the media would do with that tidbit – they would run amok.

Speaking of energy connections. Since Bill Clinton “nationalized” most south western mineral rich lands when he incorporated them into the Escalante National Monument which is controlled by Loyal Clintonistas embedded as civil service employees for life under Algore’s “Reinventing Govt.” plan, is anyone watching that store? We know those kinds of government protected lands can be traded for “Environmentally sensitive” tracts elsewhere because such a trade was done for Sen. Harry Reid so he could make a million dollar profit in a Las Vegas land deal. The Escalante National Monument, created by executive order, was one of the biggest land grabs in our history and it’s significance has gone unreported. But that shouldn’t surprise anyone since giving the Elk Hills Oil Reserves, which had been off limits since the TEA Pot Dome Scandal , to Algore’s financial piggy bank, Occidental Petroleum, took place without a murmer from the MSM. Considering this sort of past history, does anyone think that the MSM will publicize anything that might damage their Messiah, Osama Obama? They are so enamoured with this guy as the second coming of JFK that he could decapitate babies in the streets and they would cover for him.

The left will sweep this under the rug no doubt.

Sweep under the rug? I prefer to see a front page NYT, with the WaPo coming in a few days later and quoting that NYT. Or……..they could just find out who supplied Obama with his orginal money tree.
