Obama Felled By Racism

Published by at 9:37 am under 2008 Elections,All General Discussions

Gateway Pundit asked a great question after posting the crap from Obama’s ‘spiritual advisor’:

There are tons of these videos coming out and, in combination to Michelle Obama’s comments about this being the first time in her life she is proud of America, we can see what is going to kill Obama’s chance for becoming president. The great question from Gateway Pundit was this:

Wouldn’t it be something if it was black racism that took Obama down?

It just did. The fact is Obama selected this man to be his spiritual leader for the campaign. One of his visionaries, one of those who provide the tone for the campaign. There is no mistaking which way Obama’s team is heading.

For example, we can all see from Michelle Obama’s recent remarks about finally being proud of America this was not incidental or isolated. It is becoming an ugly theme.

I said if the facade was ever ripped off Obama’s Nirvana fantasy he would crash hard because his campaign was almost all about a groupie movement trying to run from the ugly realities of war and hate. Obama’s campaign was built on dreams of going back to the pre 9-11 world where there were no bad people trying to kill us. And those dreams had raised him so high up to near idol status that if it crack the collapse would be astounding – and so it is.

The crap from Rev Wright destroyed that vision. This is not the second coming of Camelot – it is just another bunch of anti-American haters with really good PR savvy. The fact is this thinking clearly permeates the Obama campaign because how else did someone like Wright get on it and in such a central role?

It will be recorded in our history that Obama was felled by racism – and a large dose of anti-Americanism. If this is not the country these people like, what are their plans to change it? BTW, a denouncement article or speech will not undo the damage. I am not sure it can be undone. I am certain not even a majority of African Americans want this crap at the center of their first shot at President. I am pretty positive they were thinking something more Lincolnesque – and less Farrakhan-foul

AsI listened to these tapes, when Wright talked about Bill Clinton I didn’t feel so bad because I dislike Bill and he got his chain jerked good. As crud as it was Bill deserves alot less adulation and a little more chain jerking as far as I’m concerned. The experience of being black in America is something few whites can begin to comprehend. The fact that many blacks cheer Wrights stuff says to me that blacks get some relief jerking the whites man chain. That Obama is associated with this guy who gave him his street creds in South Chicago is not astonishing. His background, did not say down home community worker. That being said, his choices to get street creds in South Chicago looks pretty raunchy for someone aspiring to be President of the United States.

I only have this sourced off one blog so take it for what worth that bears

According to them other well known members of this same church

    Oprah Winfrey
    Tiger Woods
    Michael Jordon

Now I think few would classify these people in a negative way for their public image.

Just how long they have been with this church was not available, but seemingly they do not have the image problem Obama is dealing with here.

If this is true we need to dig deeper into what is on the surface here.

  3. WWS says:

Merlin, I doubt that any of those three ever attended a service more than once or twice, simply because they don’t live in Chicago. (actually, I don’t know where Oprah is living, but Woods lives in Florida and Jordan in the DC area, I believe) For celebrities, being a member of a church means giving a nice donation and having them say nice things about you in return – no actual attendance required.
Not to mention that none of them is seeking to lead the country with nothing but his “judgment” as a qualification.

Obama can’t say that – he’s already stated that he and his family attend regularly (that came out in an effort to deny the muslim rumours) and he has called Wright his “spiritual leader”. In fact, the phrase “The audacity of Hope”, the title of his book, was originally a Wright sermon topic. (Borrowing an idea from Steyn, Obama probably considered “God Damn America” for his title but it didn’t do so well with the focus groups)

It was fascinating watching the news cycle last night – you could see all the wheels falling off the Obama bandwagon in real time. Obama may or may not win the dem nomination – but he’s lost white america for good. First test will be Pennsylvania; Hillary should trounce him there, in spite of a high black vote in Philly.

You could tell when Obama came on Fox to try and disavow his pastor’s statements – his hopes for the presidency are over.

    UN and reparations.

I do have a few questions. Obama (last night) had that deer in the headlight, little boy lost look. You know the relationship is deep between Farrakhan and Wright for them to be travel buds. Not very PC. I can’t put a date on when I watched Conyers on a stage with Farrakhan, but it was a time when it was jaw-dropping and no politician in his right mind would have been standing there.

So what does the Nation of Islam and the United Church of Christ have in common so that they would join forces? Rather reminds one of Hussein and AQ. Shared enemy and unfortunately, it seems to be USA.

Yep, racism took Obama down. Unbelievable. Forget Wright. Look at those cheering crowds.

One thing I’m watching and waiting for – as soon as Obama’s numbers start to slip and the reality of this starts to sink in, all of his supporters are going to blame Hillary. A big part of Obama’s appeal among Dem’s is that he allowed dem voters to start admitting that yes, they hated Hillary too. They all knew she couldn’t win the fight against Obama without a miracle – now the miracle (from Hillary’s pov) has shown up, and they are going to hate her for it.

The greatest irony of all is that Hillary is going to get a bum rap – in spite of all the good reasons to despise her, she’s going to end up being most hated for something she had nothing to do with. But the haters have no rationality, so it makes a perverse kind of sense.
I happen to think this was coming out soon no matter what – this is the downside of having a young pol who’s never run a truly competitive race in his life jumping to the big leagues. Nobody has *ever* critically vetted him before. Now it’s happening on the nightly news, the worst place possible for the ugly warts to start showing up.

THIS is why a party shouldn’t ever run someone for a major office who’s not a veteran of many hard fought campaigns. Disaster almost always results.

And we now may be looking not just at a McCain win, but a McCain landslide – who’d a thunk it???

Beyond Barrack Obama’s affiliation with his radical minister is his abandonment of his grandmother to a life of abject squalor. It bespeaks legions of an absence of basic tenants of human decency, morality and compassion.

Here is the link to a video aired in the New York Times of a visit to the ancestral village of his grandmother in Kogelo, Kenya. This is not to denegrate his grandmother. Her plight is what it is. But that she was abandoned, left, deprived by her grandson belies all that this man processes to represent. He is a man without honor.

My Sunday column is about Barack Obama’s ancestral village of Kogelo, Kenya, where I met his grandmother — actually it’s his step-grandma, but she’s the one who raised his Dad and whom he calls his grandmother. Post your comments about the column and the video here.

Just saw a great quote – “John McCain may be the luckiest man on the planet since Ringo Starr.”

Daily presidential tracking poll – Obama’s lost 8 points overnight.

    http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/election_20082/2008_presidential_election/daily_presidential_tracking_poll

In head to head matchups, it’s currently McCain 47% Obama 42% and McCain 46% Clinton 42%

  8. Terrye says:

So much for post racial. For a guy who wants to put all that bad blood behind us, Obama sure hangs out with some bitter people.

I do not doubt that there is racism in America, I would not say otherwise, there is also sexism as far as that is concerned, but sooner or later we have to move on. But the truth is Pastor Wright makes a living of keeping the anger and outrage alive.

Obama is not a fool, he should have known better.

  9. WWS says:

Obama’s no fool at all – he knew that he had to cater to that crowd in order to be given a congressional seat in that district. That’s what put him where he is today.

The problem for him is that the catering that put him there is in deep, fundamental conflict with the catering he needs to do to make it to the next level.

And the explanations he’s given won’t work, because they never do – old political saying, if you’re explaining you’re losing.

  10. owl says:

    They intend to ‘move on’.

Just watched him at townhall meeting and he said he would not allow us to lose this moment. The crowd went wild. He looked so relieved and let them cheer & cheer.

The MSM really will treat this as a one day wonder. They would have NEVER covered it except FOX had the tapes. Now imagine if the NYT had covered this story without tapes? They always start the ball and then the others ‘quote’ from them. They would have just flat out lied about it. That simple when they get boxed.

A good indicator of how it will be treated is the little Yahoo news box. Not……one…..word…..today. Instead, it is running with “UN questions whether violence in Iraq will continue to drop”. They have started putting their “UN” back in the box frequently. Bush had darn near erased it.

Thank goodness that Hillary is in this dogfight, otherwise only a mention on FOX will be it.

  11. SallyVee says:

Yep AJ, I think you are correct: Obama has been felled.

So many things are swirling through my mind. Agree with Owl — the images of the cheering, swaying, clapping, boogeying “congregants” were as shocking as watching the Rev soil himself. And to think there are 8,000 members of that crackpot, degenerate outfit running around Chicago. A lot of people have to be wondering and looking sideways at their black brethren up in Illinois today.

Also, can someone please tell me where is the hope in this “doctrine?” Where is the unity and the love??

I think Jennifer Rubin has made a couple of good points.

[SNIP] All of this leaves one wondering. Was Obama really clueless about the septic nature of the man he knew, his mentor, for thirty years? (If so, you have to wonder about those touted people skills.) Or, more likely, was this someone trying to have it both ways- ingratiating himself with Chicago’s African American community and now squeamish about being tagged with the views of one of its most famous preachers?

    and

[SNIP] If nothing else, all of this confirms the Clinton team line: maybe we don’t know Obama so well after all. Is he really the racial healer he makes himself out to be? . . . Or, maybe the real issue is that he is hopelessly naïve and cannot assess the character and motives of even those closest to him.

  12. SallyVee says:

Oh dear God. I just watched Anderson Cooper interviewing Obama… it is the most squirm inducing, lame “defense” I’ve ever seen. I can see in Obama’s face he knows his goose is cooked.

I wonder if Saturday Night Live will deal with the Rev. Jeremiah Wright tonight?

Is it possible that the speed of Obama’s flame-out will tie Eliot Spitzer’s speed record for political nose dive? Maybe.

    Cooper interview here:

  13. kathie says:

Don’t count on a flame out….many Dems love this stuff and believe it too. Many don’t feel allegiance to America, think Bush was behind 911, think we are as bad as the Nazi’s etc.

  14. kathie says:

Don’t count on a flame out….many Dems love this stuff and believe it too. Many don’t feel allegiance to America, think Bush was behind 911, think we are as bad as the Nazi’s etc.

  15. SallyVee says:

Sure, the hard core MoveOn-ers and perhaps the small percentage of black racists love this stuff. But the center & center/left… the indys… the heartland dwellers… the majority of normal black people? I don’t think so. Fairly or unfairly, a lot of Americans are thinking to themselves right now: what would an Obama inauguration party look like? What kind of entourage would move into 1600 PA Avenue? What kind of issues and crusades would Michelle embark on as First Lady?

I am sure the Jeremiah Wright fireworks will die down after a few days and appear to fade. So the flame out won’t exactly be complete just yet, with a resignation and swift exit. But in my opinion, the damage is catastrophic nonetheless.

  16. WWS says:

What I think is most significant is that this cuts to the heart of the Obama mystique – is he really a “crossover candidate” that people from all over will support, even white republicans? Clearly not. And the most important people looking at this right now are the democrat’s superdelegates, who will choose between Obama and Hillary at the convention. (the dems have left themselves no other mechanism but that)

And when the superdelegates realize that Hillary is more electable than Obama, then Obama’s run will be over. Of course, the far left will say that Hillary “stole the election!” and her run will be over too.

  17. kathie says:

It seems to me that the Dems who thought that they had the most electable candidates might just not. Many hate Hill and Obama, oh my gosh, how to rescue him.

  18. momdear1 says:

Sally Vee, you expressed my sentiments better than I could. Is it all over for Obma? Don’t count him out just yet. He is a slick talker. He makes up facts to fit his story of the moment. Most people are either too dumb or too ignorant to know the difference. I believe he will talk his way out of it. Lee Atwater once told us that the public’s memory is about 2 weeks long. Unless someone keeps it in the news it will be forgotten before the next primary. Especially if another big shoe drops.

For those who are upset and surprised by a black Minister getting his congregation all hyped up and agitated with rantings about evil white opressors and liars who have abused, sugjugated and otherwise oppressed non whites, you obviously haven’t been paying attention to what is being taught in our public schools. Black children are taught to think that way in our public schools.

. White children are routinely subjected to abuse when text books portray all whites as imperialists, invaders, oppressors, genociders, and generally as the scum of the earth and blame Christianity as the reason for their transgressions. Christopher Columbus is routinely accused of murder, plunder genocide, and portrayed as a person to be despised, instead of honored, because he accidentally found this continent while trying to to find a new way to access the markets in the East made necessry by the believers in “the Religion of Peace” robbing, murdering, kidnapping , enslaving and otherwise disrupting Europe’s trade with China and India .
If A teacher who said “Blacks are repsonsible for all the troubles in the world,” would be charged with racism, fired and brobably sued for abusing the egoes of black children. People who sit idly by and let the public school system routinely mentally abuse their children by debasing their ancestors are likely to buy into anything. So I wouldn’t count Obama out. just yet.

  19. kathie says:

On Saturday, Obama picked up more delegates then Hillary in Iowa, actually 7 more. He is still moving forward.
