Russ Feingold Pulls A Sheehan

Published by at 7:17 pm under All General Discussions,Anti War Protests,Iraq

Wow! I never, ever thought a national democrat politician would ever think of aligning themselves with Cindy Sheehan. But Russ Feingold is doing just that – in a strange bid for the White House.

Sen. Russ Feingold, a Wisconsin Democrat, will call Thursday for the withdrawal of all U.S. troops from Iraq by Dec. 31, 2006.

Feingold, who is exploring a run for the presidency in 2008, told U.S. News: “I believe I am the first senator [to set a deadline]. It says: Here is the date by which we ought to finish the mission.”

While polls indicate widespread discontent in this country over President Bush’s conduct of the war in Iraq, few Democrats have offered any real alternative to Bush’s policy of “staying the course.”

That’s because many democrats want to be a national party in the future – not a marginal party of the spineless. We are less than a week away from an Iraqi constitution being unveiled. Next month the Iraqi people will vote to adopt this constitution. And then they will vote in their first elected officials in their new and permanent democratic national government in October. That is 2 short months away!

And Russ wants to imperil all of this now? Why now?

After we spent all our national treasure, shed all this precious blood, raised the hopes of all the Iraqis who have stayed with us, and died along side us…

Russ wants to cut and run!

Two and half years ago we invaded Iraq. Roughly a year ago we handed the government over to the Iraqis. In January they had their first national elections…

And now he wants to run away?

I guess I have a few questions for the Senator, before we see nothing but his back heading home to hide.

Senator, are you so connected to the Cindy Sheehan’s of the world that you also believe the Jews should abandon Israel and get out of Palestine? Do you think we should never had invaded Afghanistan and gone after Bin Laden – like Cindy does.

Are you saying you agree wiht Cindy that America, and our security, is not worth dying for? We need to know.

Because if we lose Iraq to Al Qaeda, we will have created a terribly powerful enemy in the state of Iraq. There is a really good chance that , if we pull out, democracy will be crushed in Iraq by the Islamo Fascists….

What is your plan besides runaway and hide, Senator Feingold? How would you avoid this?

While typing this John Brueax on Hardball just said cutting and running from Iraq is not an option. You might want to listen to Ex Senator Brueax Russ, before you become an Ex Senator as well.

UPDATE:

I really feel there is hope for our two party system when I find reasonable, logical arguments on the left as to why a cut-and-run strategy is a losing one. Check out this post from a someone from the left.

And out of that chaos will come a national security nightmare that we can not now even imagine.

And if the US does cut and run with those results “the left” will be blamed for decades.

There are still very respectable making their case on the left.

    Hey Senator Feingold,

Here’s an idea. I think the war against terrorism will last almost as long as the cold war.

If your proposal is to quit the war against terrorism, in other words to surrender, make that your platform for 2008. Come on, let’s see if you have the stones.

    What a maroon!

  3. The RINO Hunt Is On!

Be vewy vewy qwiet… I’m hunting RINOs. Ahead over there… I spy our prey. I know that some people sang to the RINOs, and one person even suggested that perhaps I could lure the RINOs into the open for our hunt using interpretive dance. But, since …
