Is Obama The “Emperor’s New Clothes” Come Alive?

Published by at 7:00 am under 2008 Elections,All General Discussions

Are we seeing the fictional “The Emperor’s New Clothes” coming to life before our eyes?

Barrack Obama seems to be the classic empty suit, he stands for nothing and everything. He claims to have done many things, but there is a nagging lack of a record of accomplishment. His electoral wins in the state of Illinois and the US Senate came because he (or someone close to him) destroyed the opposition (including a well respected liberal woman icon). For many of us not obsessed with wishing reality wasn’t real, Obama really doesn’t have any core convictions beyond getting himself elected.

His only other featured trait is his silver tongue – which actually may be fool’s gold. I ran across a few things recently which relate to how this election may pan out. First, I found this post from a Saudi Sultan that’s finds Obama’s silver tongue actually may be hiding a slippery huckster:

The world is in for a shock. After eight years of a straight talking US President who speaks his mind, we are facing the prospect of one whose fine oratorical style may or may not reflect his personal opinion.

Today, America is in a dire condition. Its popularity, not just in the Middle East but around the world, is waning. This is due to several factors including the botched US campaign in Iraq, the failure to ratify the Kyoto protocol, the scandals that are Guantanamo and Abu Ghraib, the schizophrenic policy of containing one communist country (Cuba) and engaging others (Vietnam, North Korea, even China).

George W Bush has become the man that everyone loves to hate, a coat hanger for the world’s problems regardless of the facts. Commentators argue that high oil prices are due directly to his actions in Iraq, conveniently neglecting to mention the economic prosperity of certain Asian countries whose appetite for energy appears to be infinite.

Say what you want of Mr Bush – and I do all the time – but one thing that you cannot accuse him of is not meaning what he says.

Which brings me to Barack Obama; the stylish, sweet-talking Harvard graduate the world just loves to love.

The Democratic Party contender’s promises appear to swing from one end of the spectrum to the other depending on the audience he is addressing. He had previously referred to the Cuban embargo as an utter failure and promised to end it; yet when he spoke last year to a Cuban-American audience he promised to maintain it because it is “an important inducement for change”.

The same has also occurred with regards to other issues such as immigration and the decriminalisation of marijuana. However, in the emotional Middle East, it was only when we heard him promise to keep Jerusalem united as capital of the state of Israel forever that we began to realise that he is not greater than the sum of his parts.

Mr Obama later spoke on CNN and backtracked on his unified Jerusalem comments as he once again adjusted his rhetoric to suit the audience he is targeting. Jewish voters have come to realise this about Mr Obama and that is one of the main reasons they are justifiably wary of voting for him.

It is an interesting and damning observation from well outside the US media spin. And do not misunderestimate this man’s powers of observation – his comment about the Jewish vote is spot on:

Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) is attracting elite Jewish Democratic donors who backed Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (N.Y.) and are concerned about Sen. Barack Obama’s (D-Ill.) stance toward Israel, say McCain backers who are organizing the effort to court Democrats.

McCain has already had several fundraising events with Jewish Democrats in Washington and Florida, say his supporters.

He also has the backing of Democrat-turned-Independent Sen. Joe Lieberman (Conn.), who made history as the first Jewish vice presidential candidate and has recently raised questions about Obama’s foreign policy vision for the Middle East.

Stephen Muss, the Florida developer, is the biggest Democratic donor and fundraiser to pledge his support for McCain and the Republican National Committee, said a GOP official. Muss has given tens of thousands of dollars to help Democratic candidates in recent years, including $80,000 to the Democratic National Committee (DNC) in 2000, according to the Center for Responsive Politics and CQ MoneyLine.

The post and the article came out at the same time on different sides of the Earth. That is pretty good insight in my book. I agree that one thing America may not want is a change from straight, hard talk. I don’t think we want, in this time of ebbing war on terror, to lose the gift of our leaders telling us the blunt hard truth about our situation (though some cannot discern the facts from fictional fantasies by the propagandists).

I also think Obama, being as green and untested as he is, cannot make it through this national campaign. He did take out Hillary, but at a huge cost to the democrat party. Jews, women, the Reagan Democrats were all flowing away from his campaign with Hillary. So what happens if his facade as the second coming of something falls apart? Or is it? I found two recent videos of the two candidates quite interesting.

First Obama, as the silver tongued little devil gets snared in his own forked tongue:

Ouch – that is so hard to watch. And then this SNL video of McCain:

If McCain can do more of that kind of fun, light, positive media then he will be the fresh air a war weary nation needs without the dangers of looking to an inexperienced enigma for mythical ‘change’.

Update:  This Weekly Standard piece folds in nicely to what I was saying.  I really like the part were McCain appears to be the sturdy old oak tree and Obama the young twig – funny and accurate.

This is a far out thought, but suppose Obama is a puppet for George Soros, bought and sold to the American public? He is getting piles of money, do we know from where, they say ordinary citizens, not sure I believe it? Soros has his fingers in lots of pots and has done some really rotten things. Obama would fit into his philosophy just fine……they are both extreme socialists. Just a thought.

…….also Obama’s symbol gives me the hebby gebbys. I’m not sure why!

    Kathie,
sure he could be a soros puppet, or any of those one-worlders,
but I am so less than impressed by even the blogosphere.
Unless and until any of our so called champions of the truth
are willing to raise the fact that Obsama is lying about his roots, in other words,
that he is not Black but Arab, then I have only a big shrug for the lot of them.

Maybe if we close our eyes
and pretend with all our might
    Santa will answer our sighs
and come down the chimney tonight

What in the world is this group delusion, not only on the Left but
    also on the Right, about?

Look at Obama’s family picture. He is a black African, Dave M.

Trouble with trying to respond to your post, Kathie,
is that as soon as you post a web address, the filters block it,
possibly to be released later by manual approval,

Kathie, No what you say is untrue

    Go here,
you need to assemble the address in bits

There’s this guy, a contract researcher for fox nu s

His name is Kenneth E Lamb

If you put in the usual prefix, then his name without any spaces
then the obligatory dot, then blog spot without spaces, then another
obligatory dot then the first three letters of the word company,

you should get to his website

Then you can read the questions about his ethnicity and follow on posts.

    Hope this gets through.

The ties to Soros are becoming legion with this guy.

LGF discovered linkage they posted on yesterday that one of the VP search team for Obama named James Johnson is the Vice Chairman of the Perseus Funds which is a Soros group.

It is also the owner of the publishing company that published the Scott McClellan book.

Merlin, I read that after I posted, just reinforces my thinking. So Soros couldn’t buy the last election, tho he tried mightily, so he will buy it with Obama. Maybe not so far fetched. And why did Moveon.org turn against the Clintons. What is his relationship to MSMBC and CNN? Just wondering! My gut tells me that the money racking in is more then citizen supporters.

Dave, in Darfur the Arab-Muslim africans seem to think there is a difference from the Black-Muslim africans.

  8. kathie says:

Very interesting Dave, just read your reference. When I heard Obama talk about his relationship to Christianity, he talks about Christ as being a prophet, a bringer together of people, it struck me as being odd. But then I have trouble talking about my faith as an external matter, so I thought maybe Obama did too. Wrights church brings together Muslim and Christians under of the banner of Black Liberationists. There are a lot of unknowns in my mind at the moment.

So just how early do you Strataspheristas start slurpin’ that Kool-Aid??

As far as Obama v. Grumpy McSame the senescent senior senator from Retirementville, Gallup reports woman moving rapidly to support Obama:

On June 2nd, Obama led the Old Coot 48-43% among women. On June 6, Obama was up 3% and McCain was donw 5% to 51-38%.

In the same period, the deficit between Obama and McCain for men voters dropped from 43-49% to 45-47%. Talk about trend lines . . .

In the Gallup Daily tracking, Obama’s lead stabilizes at 48-41%. At Ramussen has it 46-41%. McCain appears unable to crack the 42% barrier, practically ensuring an Obama victory in November.

And Grumpy’s comments that “bringing the troops home is not too important” is unlikely to win him any more supporters . . . which is no doubt why both Rasmussen Markets (64.9 – 35.5) and Intrade (61.2-34.4) show Obama up by approximately 30 points.

    Sooth,

You are woefully premature on those polls (I have been watching). That is the post selection bounce. I have seen the gap starting to shrink again (just like Kerry’s little bounce after the convention dissipated in a few days in 2006).

My guess is your crow will be waiting for you by next week.

Hans Christian Andersen’s “The Emperor’s New Suit” came out long before Political Correctness hit the scene, but that is what it is talking about. Public acceptance of lies instead of admitting the new suit is just a naked guy.

As for Obama, he’s just a huckster, telling anyone what they want to hear. He’s no fool, he knows if he ever defines what “Change” means to him, he will lose votes every time he opens his mouth.

In short, Obama is extremely dangerous: a marxist consumed by race. If he is elected, the Democratic Party will take on characteristics of South Africa’s marxist African National Congress. The voters will have to right the country over several elections, and the politicians will be of little help in doing so.

John Edwards was right, the people will have to rise up and save the country–from both parties.
