Rudy For Vice President!
Boy, could I get behind a McCain-Giuliani ticket! That would really put New York and California in play. I will note the David Frum piece linked to does not once suggest picking Rudy – but someone has it in mind and I like it. In fact, knowing Frum is a far right ‘true’ conservative, I doubt he would like the idea of two moderate, pro-war candidates on the top of the ticket. But hey, this election has nothing to do with the far right – it is about whether the country goes full far left or moderate conservative. Those are the choices.
That is a ticket I would love to see, too.
I’m using this link in my post for tomorrow.

Watch. Rudy simpy makes me yearn to vote for a smart guy who gets it.
I like Rudy too. As for Frum, who cares? The guy hates everybody.
Rudy would add a very telegenic component to the race and maybe even put New York into play, both things which would benefit McCain immensely.
They are also two things which a Romney nod would *not* do. Romney for Sec of State or Treasury, maybe – not VP.
The only answer to that ticket is .. Good Morning President Obama.
Do whites out number blacks in New York because the 1/2 black has the black vote all locked up!
No racism in Baracks campaign now just move along, and whatever you do don’t call the 1/2 black Hussein!
Neo, I disagree. I can’t be positive of this but I believe the office of the VP has seen some changes since 9/11 and plays an important role in anti-terrorism coordination. I think Rudy would be good in that role.
We are also going to need someone in that role that won’t further alienate a veto-proof Democratic majority which looks like a possibility this fall. And he could result in the ticket carrying NY.
Ugh I think Rudy would be a disaster. I already having trouble keeping Pro-lifers on board or more to the point jazzed.
Rudy would deflate that further. Also I have my doubnts that Rudy would help carry New York. It did not take much for his numbers to start going South up there and in New JErsey in the primaries.
If Rudy had appeal it should have shown up more in the states. Especially New Hampshire where he spent a ton of money. If we can not do a decent showing among those Independent NH folks then I have time seeing him bringing vast numbers over
That ticket will not sit well with the hardcore right of the republican party — they might vote for Obama out of spite (like some of Hillary’s people are). But, I’d like to see it too, because I think it would be a good ticket.
I saw Rudy Debate John Edwards at Radio City Music Hall 2 weeks ago. He is good and not afraid. as you can imagine the audience was generaly hostile to many of his arguments, but he was till able to get many rounds of applause. On a sad note the event was moderated by Tim Russert who seemed as full as affability and tough questions as ever.
While Rudy was my pick for President I don’t think he would make a good VP. It would be divisive in the general election. I hope McCain gets elected and Rudy accepts Attorney General or some such position.
My choice with no reservations would be Sarah Palin. The most compelling female politician of either party. Among other things as VP she would have the time to nurture foreign policy insights. To date her attention has been with cleaning up Alaskan politics especially with her fellow Repubs.

She addresses most of the self inflicted current problems of the GOP. Problems for the most part that they refuse to address.
WOW!!! Rudy G AND Grumpy McSame: then we’d have two (count ’em 2!) clueless, over the hill, bald, serial adulterers to vote against in November. Rudy & John Boy would bring out the Hillary supporters in droves to make sure that none of the Second Wives Club would be First Lady.
Giuliani’s total failure to engage the Republican electorate in the primaries is proof positive he could personally put the kibosh on the Old Coot’s slim chances in November.
soot,
A serial adulterer and the pathetic woman that enabled him had no problem getting elected twice. In fact the rape accusation seemed to boost his favorability ratings. Your kind of guy I would think.
The cigar move was a nice touch. His signature piece!
Rudy has serious character problems, for those that view character as a qualification.
To anoint him as the 2012 nominee, would make the same things that defeated him in the primaries relevant again.
He might even make a good cabinet member. But a man that liberal, who can’t manage his private life, adds nothing to the ticket but liabilities.
Consider: Sanford, Palin, Jindal, Romney, Steele.
