“Gun-Toting, Bible Thumping, Bitter People” Day?

Today the US Supreme Court has ruled in favor of all those gun-toting bitter people who desire to protect their family and property:

The Supreme Court ruled on Thursday, for the first time in U.S. history, that individual Americans have the right to own guns for personal use, and struck down a strict gun control law in the nation’s capital.

The landmark 5-4 ruling marked the first time in nearly 70 years the high court has addressed whether the Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution protects an individual right to keep and bear arms, rather than a right tied to service in a state militia.

The court struck down the nation’s strictest gun control law adopted in Washington D.C., 32 years ago. It bans private possession of handguns and requires that any rifles or shotguns kept at home be unloaded and dissembled or bound by a trigger lock.

Poor liberals are taking a beating this month when it comes to public policy. First they were dumped on the FISA issue by Democrat leaders, and now they face the fact gun ownership is a constitutional right. The court’s ruling effects one of the highest crime/murder areas in the country – Washington DC. History has proven that once private citizens have the right to defend themselves crime levels drop (just look at Virginia which mates the right to concealed weapons with severe punishments for the misuse of guns for example). My prediction is DC will begin to see a drop in their violent and gun related crime levels over the coming years.

Can’t wait to hear Obama’s spin on this one!

Now we await the court’s decision on prayer at the Navy Academy lunches. My guess is free speech and freedom of religion will win the day.

Update: Here is Obama’s flip-flop, right on schedule.

    5 Justices 4 Jackasses!
I wonder what side Harriet Myers would have been on?

This is just one reason presidents matter. Imagine that two justices retire in the next four years. Who do you want nominating the replacements?

It’s in the cards that two justices will retire in the next four years. Stevens is 89. In four years he will be 93. Ginsburg has cancer and has trouble keeping awake during sessions. These two have just been waiting for a democrat president. Ill and/or infirm as they are they are hanging on as long as possible.
