Wow – is it really that difficult for you to comprehend someone holding the following two thoughts in their mind at the same time?

1. Barrack Obama is a US citizen, and is qualified to run for the Presidency.

2. I will be voting for John McCain.

I mean – really? Everybody has to be in lock step with every single point? I don’t want to Godwin here, but… wow.

(NOTE: number 2 above certainly does not apply to me, but does to Ray and others. And when both Obama and McCain supporters are calling you a crazy person – maybe you should stop thinking it’s everybody else who is the problem.)

The question of whether someone holding dual nationality can run for President would probably need to go to the Supreme Court for a decision. I suspect the current SC will say no.

No it doesn’t need to go to court – nor could it. Natural born U.S. citizens can stand or President if they have fulfilled residency and other standard requirements. It may even be possible to be elected President from a jail cell.

No he wouldn’t be “actually” anything (in the long term) because a person can quite legally change their name as often as they change their socks, as long as it is not done for an illegal purpose. Some people however find it more convenient or less problematic to register name changes.

Most government (and other) forms require people to state their *current* legal name rather than the name on their birth certificate.

In one or more places on the planet, people may not change their “Christian” name (first name) by deed poll because the state refuses to undo what a Christian church has done in Baptism or Chistening, but the person may quite legally change their Christian name themselves. I have no idea how non-Christians get along in that regard.

Obama could have had a dozen different names between birth and now, but none of the other names would be relevant unless an existing registered name was changed by deed poll.

So for example, if Obama had changed his name to “Bazza Obama” by deed poll in 1978 and then changed it WITHOUT deed poll to “The Big O” in 1990 then back to Barack Hussein Obama in 1992, he would (in order to become President) only need to prove who he was, and that the COLB he tendered was indeed his. Part of that process would include mentioning the deed poll change.

It seems he’s concerned about ending up in a ditch if his wild imaginings are not appreciated. Could someone tell him not to worry because he’s already IN a ditch and has been for several weeks.

The same thing goes for the border design that some people were panicking about. If anyone was really interested, they would have a look at the marriage certificates for 2007 which had the same border as the 2007 COLB’s.
