Taunting Wounded Heroes

Published by at 9:55 am under All General Discussions,Anti War Protests

UPDATE:

Thankfully this idiotic plan by the anti-war fanatics is causing a back lash of support for the troop. Cam Edwards went to the site to join in a large counter protest to show supporting the troops should not be an issue.

didn’t manage to catch it with my camera, but about 9 o’clock, a big white bus full of soldiers back from an outing pulled in. The look on their faces and the smiles they gave us was fantastic. In fact, all evening long I was shocked by how many people were honking and giving a thumbs up to us, and another finger to the Code Pink people. This is Washington, D.C… hardly a hotbed of the conservative movement.

You don’t have to be a conservative to want to protect our injured heroes. At least you shouldn’t have to be. [hat tip Michelle Malkin]

END UPDATE

As I posted here yesterday, the far left liberal fringes have ignited into action. Fed propaganda from the democrats for decades, through comparisons of conservatives to Hitler and all other forms of evil, the democrats created a boiling cauldron of hate for the US on the left to buck up their election turnout. As the moderate middle fled the democrats, the party has been distilled down to the truly radical margins, which now easily make of 50% or more of the party.

So after years of watching the very same people who kept saying an evil horde was taking over the country’s political system, in order to bring into being a theological form of government, a form of government which would dictate every aspect of our lives, and was run by people willing to kill off the poor and needy in order to be rich – well, you get the picture. The future of life on earth as we know it was at stake.

When Cindy Sheehan hit the airwaves through her sympathizers in the liberal media, who ignored or hid her radical, anti Israel and anti America beliefs, the media signaled to the anti war fringe it is time to take the country back. The Frankenstein’s Monster the democrats have fed and grown through spin and half truths for decades now is now out – and devouring the democrats.

Today we learn that we will be returning to Vietnam. Not to lose or be bogged down Iraq. But to have the marginal fringe come out and taunt the men and women who risked and sacrificed to protect this country. Today we see the anti-war protestors attacking, verbally, our injured soldiers at Walter Reed Hospital here in DC. [hat tip: Drudge]

The Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C., the current home of hundreds of wounded veterans from the war in Iraq, has been the target of weekly anti-war demonstrations since March. The protesters hold signs that read “Maimed for Lies” and “Enlist here and die for Halliburton.”

This simply implies those injured were stupid dupes who sacrificed themselves for the ‘rich’ (not Mark Rich or George Soros or Barbara Streisand of course). These soldiers have been injured, some seriously, and these left wing ego maniacs have to go taunt them? Why – to make them feel better? To help them recooperate sooner? To give them emotional support?

The left has always had an incredible cruel streak in them, their desire to be right is so strong they have never really cared who they trampled or hurt along the way. Cindy Sheehan has made her son out to be such an idiot to follow George Bush into battle the poor guy’s reputation as a man of honor, who paid the ultimate sacrifice, is all but gone. For her media addiction she has ruined the memory of her son. So trampling a stranger is no big leap for the left.

We are not far from the cries of ‘baby killers’ and the age old liberal tradition of spitting on our fellow citizens. That is because too many people are not mature enough to disagree, as a minority, with respect due a democracy like ours. They need to lash out. Maybe we can define some new ‘syndrome’ for these people who are so desparate to have their slanted world view be right they will do anything.

Among the props used by the protesters are mock caskets, lined up on the sidewalk to represent the death toll in Iraq.

The harbingers of death. Too bad they do no know about the context of the death tolll as we see here, where it does not exceed the loss of life in the military during times of peace. But an anti-war fanatic would simply say it is time to disarm then. They have become so obsessed with their cause to the point where the cannot muster a minimal level of respect.

Luke accused President Bush of “exploiting American soldiers” while “oppressing the other nations of earth.” The president “has killed far too many people,” he added.

The President was authorized by this government and its people to take this action. So do not taunt the soldiers for what the majority decided to do. But more than that, the person exploiting the pain and suffering of another human being is the idiot who is taunting the injured so they can get on TV. Luke, do you think n0 one knows people are dying and being injured in Iraq? Do you think people did not understand the implications of a war? Are you and your liberal fanatic friends so naively pompous as to assume you need to explain war and its implications to us?

Luke, we are not that stupid, and you my friend are not that smart. Now if you want someone to respect your opinion, then show some human decency and leave the wounded soldiers to heal. Take your pathetic protests to the streets or public forum. Because when Americans hear this kind of response from the wounded soldiers, I can promise you we will not be taking the side of pompous protestors:

Kevin Pannell, who was recently treated at Walter Reed and had both legs amputated after an ambush grenade attack near Baghdad in 2004, considers the presence of the anti-war protesters in front of the hospital “distasteful.”

When he was a patient at the hospital, Pannell said he initially tried to ignore the anti-war activists camped out in front of Walter Reed, until witnessing something that enraged him.

“We went by there one day and I drove by and [the anti-war protesters] had a bunch of flag-draped coffins laid out on the sidewalk. That, I thought, was probably the most distasteful thing I had ever seen. Ever,” Pannell, a member of the Army’s First Cavalry Division, told Cybercast News Service.

“You know that 95 percent of the guys in the hospital bed lost guys whenever they got hurt and survivors’ guilt is the worst thing you can deal with,” Pannell said, adding that other veterans recovering from wounds at Walter Reed share his resentment for the anti-war protesters.

“We don’t like them and we don’t like the fact that they can hang their signs and stuff on the fence at Walter Reed,” he said. “[The wounded veterans] are there to recuperate. Once they get out in the real world, then they can start seeing that stuff (anti-war protests). I mean Walter Reed is a sheltered environment and it needs to stay that way.”

Finally, since the democrats bred this beast of fringe madness, I now call on them to call off these protests. Where are you Senator Clinton? Why are you not supporting our troops now? Where are you Senator Reid? This is not the war in Iraq, this is supporting the troops here at home. Where are you Howard Dean? You say democrats are here to support the troops – get down to Walter Reed and start supporting them.

If the democrats cannot lift a finger to protect our injured soldiers now, when they are in need of the support from all of us, then all their statements about supporting the troops can be thrown away as political BS. And we will never, ever trust them to protect this country, and the people who protect it for us, again.

Of course, when you villify our military it can also lead to this [hat tip Michelle Malkin] – a despicable beating of two soldiers in the liberal bastion of Seattle. (also at Captain’s Quarters here)

The Anchoress has a post that mirrors my own in many ways. That poor dear woman is starting to think like me. I worry about her.

The democratic party is recruiting young blacks to beat up soldiers returning from Iraq … they are encouraged to try to cover up their political motivations by groping the dates of the targeted soldiers, making them appear to be dumb thugs … just aweful … drop a f’in a-bomb on Seattle, that’s what I say!

  3. AJStrata says:

    X4,

I would not go so far as to say recruiting. But when things turn ugly, there silence can be seen as ‘encouragment’. Before nuking Seattle I would hope to wake them up to this repulsive behavior so they can pull back from this brink. Give the good people a chance to assess their positions now that the taunting and beatings are breaking out. I would guess 90+% of the country would stand against such acts.

  4. […] AJ Strata has a sane and more evenly-toned post than mine on this story. Mark at Decision ‘08< ?a> also has a good post. […]

  5. […] On one side you have the Cindy Sheehans, who have become the media darlings (since the media clearly relates to this group). Their ascendancy is accelerating and is what will finally buckle the democrat party, which is at least 50% anti-war liberals. […]

Suggest you try reading a loonly left wing story on this, from the far left folks at Stars & Stripes:

    LINK

Here the S&S says “Steeling against rain and cold night air, clutching candles and placards, a group of activists are standing nightly vigils at the entrance to Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, protesting what they believe is the Pentagon’s attempt to hide the human toll of the war in Iraq….Kevin McCarron, a former Marine intelligence specialist and a veteran of the 1991 Gulf War, said he thinks the late-night admittances are a dishonor to the troops.
“They should be feted as they arrive, honored as heroes, not slipped through the back door like this,” he said.”

    “…should be feted…honored as heroes…”

Don’t sound like they’re “taunting” the soldiers to me…

    And another take,

Where they note “…They’ve called for better health care benefits for soldiers wounded in Iraq, protested an early policy of making some soldiers buy their own meals while in care, and accused the military of purposely flying injured troops in under cover of night to downplay the volume of casualties. And they’ve waved signs protesting the war and the Bush administration.
Organizers say they weren’t getting much media attention …Until last week, that is. That’s when an online news service with politically conservative ties released a special report suggesting the vigils were actually protests aimed at wounded soldiers – an accusation that infuriated vigil organizers, many of them family members of troops serving in Iraq and some of them veterans themselves.”

And how about a soldier recovering in WR, what does he think of CodePink? “At the same time, he said he didn’t get the sense the vigil participants were trying to shame him, or blame soldiers for the war.
“I really can’t object,” he said. “I fight for them to be able to say what they want to say.” ”

And the counter group is composed of mostly GOP activists, not people particularly concerned about our soldiers.

Take a look from outside the right-wing echo chamber, and its a very different story!

    Zoomie,

You point to a story that does not report about the coffins and the signs, which were reported elsewhere many times, and therefore you assume they do not exists?

LOL! We call those ‘blinders’ you are sporting there.

  8. Zoomie says:

Yep, thats exactly what I say. Stars&Stripes doesn’t see anything, but suddenly some Rush-wannabe and a biased, make-up any story right wingers say its so and YOU believe them?

Blinders, just like horses wear! You only see what you want to see…

Near as I can tell, you really only have ONE source, CNS. Everything else builds on it, with lots of innuendo, claims that no one else seems to have seen. Got a local base paper that says they “taunted” the soldiers? Any other source than CNS? I mean, the SacBee quotes one of those soldiers, he didn’t see anything that resembled “taunting”, and certainly didn’t see anything as outrageous as you describe.

By the way, the S&S source should be http://www.estripes.com/article.asp?section=104&article=27210&archive=true up above. My error, sorry.

  9. AJStrata says:

    Zoomie,

There were wounded soldiers who went on the record and other witnesses. You can pretend they did not exist, that is typical of a liberal – pretending. It is people like you who made me leave the democrat party. Unless you can get the soldiers who made the claims recant, you have nothing but a non-witness. You need to do a lot more than find someone who was there when the protestors were not there – or did that possibility never occur to you in your rush to not believe people who fought and sacrificed for this country?

    You see my point?
