Barry The “Cable Guy”

Published by at 8:11 am under 2008 Elections,All General Discussions

Watch out America, we have a Democrat Elitist trying to reach out and ‘connect’. And it is an ironically hilarious attempt. We now have the new image of why we should support Obama because he is, underneath his Harvard Degree and Gaffe-prone fluid prose, just “Larry The Cable Guy“:

The Obama model is really quite simple…Barack Obama is the Cable Guy. Whatever it takes to “get ‘er done” he’s going to do. What Obama is not is an ideologue. In fact Barack Obama may well be the least ideological presidential candidate since Dwight Eisenhower. Obama plays the cards he is dealt. Like any good gambler knows, when the cards change you adjust or you lose. Barack Obama is proving to be a very good gambler.

Being a Southerner and country loving boy I love to watch city-slicked elites try and ‘connect’. There is a lot of Larry the Cable Guy in Obama. Like the mythical Larry, Obama thinks he is the best thing since sliced bread and can save the world. The fact they are uneducated/inexperienced and incompetent characters never impedes either of them from giving out words of silly wisdom to everyone around. A few Obama like examples from Larry:

1. A day without sunshine is like night.
2. On the other hand, you have different fingers.
3. 42.7% of all statistics are made up on the spot.
4. 99% of all lawyers give the rest a bad name.
5. Remember, half the people you know are below average.
6. He who laughs last thinks slowest.

Obama has had many of his own:

1. “In case you missed it, this week, there was a tragedy in Kansas. Ten thousand people died — an entire town destroyed.” The actual death toll: 12.
2. “Over the last 15 months, we’ve traveled to every corner of the United States. I’ve now been in 57 states? I think one left to go.”
3. Obama told a Portland crowd over the weekend that Iran doesn’t “pose a serious threat to us”–cluelessly arguing that “tiny countries” with small defense budgets can’t do us harm– and then promptly flip-flopped the next day, claiming, “I’ve made it clear for years that the threat from Iran is grave.”

They both have inflated egos built upon very little foundation and achievement. I am sure both would buy into the Obama Tire Inflation Energy Plan! Personally, I would pick Larry over Barry at the moment. He seems more geniune.

Bob Beckel wrote that nonsense. I think he wants to have Obama’s baby.

You wrote Barry? As in Barry Soetoro Ma?
    hmmmm…..
Hillary has said that her name should be on the ballot papers
    at the convention.
    hmmmm….
    The weird days of August.

For me Obama’s operative deficiency lies in the fact he has never had a job in the private sector, effectively never driven his own car, has always lived in urban settings, and his only post-schooling experience has involved lobbying government seeking concessions for groups he represented. These are experiences not that different from those Bill Clinton brought to the oval office. Barry’s probably never pushed a lawn mower. A stint in the military or having his check signed by a non-government entity would have changed this man for the better.

Whether he is an ideologue or not is made considerably less relevant by the above facts, in my opinion.

    “Uneducated”?

Umm… wasn’t he the President of the Harvard Law Review?

“Uneducated”? Really? Have you now moved into self-parody, AJ?

  5. gwood says:

Perhaps then, he’s only “mis-educated” like many younger Americans, steeped in multiculturalism and trained to become a “citizen of the world”. His gaffes have to date indicated a dearth of knowledge in many disciplines, like physics, statistical analysis, (tire gauge) US geography, (57 states) US history, (“bomb” dropped on Pearl Harbor) and economics, (commodity supply and demand, taking money out of the economy will “help” the economy) etc. What’s more, none of these gaffes have resulted from a zealous reporter’s question, designed to evoke a “gotcha” moment, as has been the case with pols from the other side of the aisle.

He may be a Harvard grad, but if I were Harvard, I wouldn’t be very proud of what this particular grad is revealing about the quality of education there.

  6. breschau says:

I have to say, this “gaffe” meme from the Right is, without a doubt, the funniest tack ever taken in a political race by one side.

McCain mixes up Sunni and Shia, says Iran is training Al Qaeda, talks about the Iraq-Pakistan border, says “I never said the word timetable”, talks about Czechoslovakia in the present tense (when it hasn’t existed since 1992), refers to “President Putin of Germany”, says the troops in Iraq are down to pre-surge levels (when there 20,000 more than pre-surge), says the surge started the Anbar Awakening (when it happened months before the surge started) – but Obama is the gaffe-prone candidate?

And please note – none of these were “gotcha” questions, and none of these were as simply as saying “57” when you meant “47”. And most aren’t slips of the tongue – saying the Anbar Awakening happened after the Surge when it actually took place before the Surge is not a “slip”, it’s an outright mistake that shows ignorance of something that is supposed to be his strong suit.

But please, yes – keep pushing the idea that Obama is gaffe-prone. If nothing else, it gives me a good laugh everytime.

  7. gwood says:

I guess the preference is for mostly self-acknowledged and corrected gaffes to displays of ignorance steadfastly maintained as true.

  8. WWS says:

Notice how there is not even an attempt to defend Obama’s ignorance, which was being devoutly denied a couple of posts before; the only response is “oh yeah? Well McCain said something dumb too!”

This is not even an argument, this is evasion and deflection at its worst. Obama is an ignorant fool, and even his most devoted supporters can’t hide it or defend it.

  9. ivehadit says:

Bresc, you are making a mistake defending o. He is NOT who you think he is.

Barry got his position there because he was black. He was an affirmative action beneficiary.

He was the only editor to NEVER have written a SINGLE thing for it.

And I think he’s the only person to not go on to serve as a clerk to the Federal Bench.

He was a fraud then and a fraud now.

Barry got his position there because he was black. He was an affirmative action beneficiary.

Nice. Thanks for the insight, Sen. Helms.

And you all had the nerve yesterday to scream about how Obama is racist? When people on your side are spewing this nonsense?

  12. VinceP1974 says:

It’s curious that you would attempt to make a personal attack on me for stating the truth.

What does that make you, thug?

  13. breschau says:

Well, if it’s “the truth”, then I assume you can prove it. Please provide a link.

  14. VinceP1974 says:

Look it up your damn self. I’m at work.. I’m not your fucking personal research assistant.

  15. lurker9876 says:

breschau, the proof is in what Obama says, implicitly and explicitly. Obama is playing the racist card. Everything he has been saying implies a racist card. No need to provide the links. You just cannot see it.

  16. breschau says:

    Vince:

Yeah, that’s what I thought. The reason you can’t provide a link is because there is none. There is not one single bit of proof out there that Obama became President of the Harvard Law Review because of “affirmative action” or any reason other than he earned it. But you were perfectly comfortable stating it as fact.

Where I came from, we call that a “lie”.

What I wrote before wasn’t really a personal insult. *THIS* is a personal insult:

    You’re a racist dickbag.

  17. VinceP1974 says:

Breschau: You have no idea what you’re talking about. you dont know the circumstances that led to Barry going to Review. You dont know what he did when he got there. You dont know what he did when he left.

You don’t know anything. Yet you’re going to call me a racist because I do know what he did.

It’s so typical of you Left wing retards.. your objective in the end is to label people with the words you invent to silence speech. You certainly don’t have any facts.

    Thanks for admitting that.

  18. breschau says:

You are beneath comtempt, and should be ashamed of yourself.

    Goodbye. I’m done with you.

  19. VinceP1974 says:

LOL.. Listen to the retard who tells people they’re racist for telling him things he doesn’t want to know.

    Yeh. go run away coward

  20. Terrye says:

    breschau:

The folks at the Harvard Review said themselves that Barack got the job because he was black. They did not say he was an idiot or anything, only that it was time that a black man have the job and he had done some editing and they thought he would be a good pick. The same thing with tenure. The man has not published.

But when it comes to just everyday stuff that most people should know, Obama seems to be deficient. My guess is that has something to do with his childhood. He did not grow up learning this stuff like most of the rest of us did.
