The Cult Of The COLB Implodes
Yes To Democracy alerted me to some interesting happenings over at the Cult of The COLB. It seems the ‘esteemed’ Techdud has gone underground and those blogs who had been promoting his ‘reports’ have pulled them:
Update: Techdude has informed me that he is unable to continue his work at this time, due to family obligations and ongoing threats. Because we cannot show his completed work, I have decided to remove his reports from this blog because they cannot be verified in their current unfinished form. Should he complete the work in the future, I will re-activate his posts.

Regarding the evidence we have presented from “Techdudeâ€:
All information that we have received from Techdude has been published.  We have not seen the rest of his evidence.  At present, he is unavailable.  Should he not respond promptly, we will remove his statements and findings.  In the future, if we receive all of the documentation he promised and are able to prove that it’s credible, we will restore his reports.
Who is Techdude?
I believe him to be a real forensics expert because his email communication came from a user and domain name that I checked out. I cannot reveal more without revealing his identity, which I promised to protect. But I did vet him to the best of my ability. [Update: we also cross-checked his phone number].
The fact is Techdud was apparently the only one ‘forging’ in this entire mess as he cherry picked random normal anomalies from printers, scanners and JPEG SW to find Obama’s sister’s name in the noise. He was not a technical expert on computers – at best. The desire to believe too many times creates a situation where people deny the facts. This is human nature. Â People need to learn to stop themselves and open their minds back up when real experts start to point out all the problems with the claims.
Everyone’s credibility relies on noting and acting on these warning signs. As does our judicial system. I hope this is a lesson to a lot of people about who to assess something without falling for it hook, line and sinker.Â

How did they scan the creases out of the document? I ask because I have to scan documents at work and the creases always show up. I would like to know the trade secret. If you look at the photos provided at fact check, those are some pretty heavy creases and on the Kos and FTS site, they don’t show up. Anytime I scan something with creases in it, you can see the lines.
Sue, if you press down in the middle the middle fold will flatten. It really depends on the scanner type. The one I have quite easily removes all creases.
Besides – it is possible it was fold many more times since the scan.

I have stood on my head and crossed my eyes and the creases won’t disappear. There is always a line no matter what I do. I figured there was a secret to getting it to do that. I guess not.
What scanner do you use? I have had 2 and both leave lines where the document was folded.
