Obama is giving the Clintons primetime airtime because he has to give them SOMETHING. Clinton still has a large number of supporters and the Clintons are both still an influential power in the DNC. Since he is not giving Hillary the VP, he has to at least give the Clintons a major role at the convention. Can you imagine how stiffed Clinton supporters would feel if the Clintons did not have a prominent role at the convention?

But Rush has said that Nancy baby doesn’t want hil any where near her power….

This is old, old news. Here is just one example of an earlier report on this same exact issue – a July 11th Fox News article in which Hillary Clinton’s former communications director told FOX News Clinton is not actively being vetted by Barack Obama’s running-mate search team. http://elections.foxnews.com/2008/07/11/former-aide-clinton-not-being-vetted-by-obama-vp-team/. Obama’s campaign and DNC party operatives have been consistently dampening expectations of an Obama-Clinton ticket since Obama secured the nomination. Clinton supporters have known for a long time that Obama wouldn’t pick her. Can we say stale?

How about covering something fresh in the news that will clearly have an effect on the election? Like the fact that Bush has apparently agreed to a timetable for the withdrawl of US troops from Iraq, including removing most U.S. combat troops from Iraqi cities by the end of 2009 and removing all combat troops from Iraq by the end of 2011. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/08/21/AR2008082100310_pf.html. It is not a done deal yet, but apparently the timetable part has been agreed to. I can’t wait to see McCain try and wiggle out of this one.

I sure hope the Shite-controlled government doesn’t screw this up – the Sunni Awakening is critical to the success of the surge. Combine this with the fact that the Iraqi leaders have yet to agree to an election (which was supposed to be conducted Oct. 2008), and I am starting to get nervous that the political/sectarian situation will begin creating problems for the security situation.
