Battle For America’s Cajones

The Strata family has a way to end this ridiculous debate about who has the mettle to be leader of the free world. We want to see a competition in (1) Caribou hunting, (2) Riflery at 100 meters, (3) Mooseburger eating, (4) 1500 km snow machine race and the final round will be be fishing in the Bering Strait.

My guess is Obama and Biden would be begging to quit before the end. If the dems can’t make it through these simple tasks they are not prepared to be President.  Bring it on.

She is a great choice. She may have a little trouble with the experience and the political probes, but she will get by that.

Brings the 3 legs of the Republican Party together

You want to put a 72 year old man with a history of health problems, through a series of physical tests?

Against a 44 year old who actually had an article written about him asking if he was “too fit to be President”?

    That’s gold, Jerry – GOLD!

Okay, seriously – do you people ever get tired of embarrassing yourselves?

  3. Terrye says:

    breschau:

You want to put a 44 year old skinny man who never did a day of physical labor in his life up against a man who withstood 5 and a half years of torture and lived to tell about it?

Besides the point to this is not fitness. It is that Obama is an elitist.

  4. Terrye says:

    breschau:

Speaking of embarrassing yourself, why do you hang out here?

  5. Terrye says:

Speaking of fitness I wonder how will that 66 year old VP the Democrats have had would stand up to some tests? Not so well. I think.

  6. breschau says:

    “Obama is an elitist.”

Oh, COME ON – at least give me a challenge.

    Obama – one home – $1.35 million.

McCain – seven homes – $13+ million. Annual cost on household help (read: servants): $247,000.00. Flies around in a corporate jet owned by his wife.

How many homes do you own? How much do you spend on household help?

In what way can John McCain relate to struggling working class families, when he states that the country has made strong economic gains since 2000?

    Also…

John McCain: married into money, after abandoning his first wife, who raised his three kids. Cindy McCain: former beauty queen, inherited all of her money from her father.

Barack Obama: raised by a single mom. Earned his money. Joe Biden: grew up blue collar. The least wealthy member of the Senate.

Also, Cindy McCain: her half-sister is voting for Obama.

    Who’s the freaking elitist again?

  7. breschau says:

    Terrye:

“Speaking of embarrassing yourself, why do you hang out here?”

    Good question.

It started because AJ does two things I admire: 1) he smacked down the COLB cult, and 2) he reports regularly on the Afghanistan/Pakistan border, which nobody else seems to do. I don’t comment on those much, but I do read them all voraciously.

Then, it continued because, outside of conman (who posts very irregularly), this place was an echo chamber of GOP talking points on anything related to the election. And I felt it was my duty to at least get an opposition voice out there.

Now, it’s a couple of different reasons. Wingnuts like DaleInAtlanta let me flex my satirical muscles on occasions. Those of you that actually know what you’re talking about make me test my rhetorical muscles, and keep me better informed (both because of what you say, and because of the research I do re-enforcing what I believe in).

And mostly, because I hope that those of you who aren’t completely in the bag for the Karl Rove wing of the GOP might actually realize that, just because we disagree on political concepts, that doesn’t mean that either of us are evil, or stupid, or malicious. That was the only thing that could really get me legitimally upset when I started here: when I’m arguing in good faith, and someone decided to ignore any points I was making and throw out an ad hominum attack against me. It just made this feel like a wasted effort – that this country was doomed.

If you’d like to see how I treat that now, look for the recent responses from me to DaleInAtlanta or MarkForSenate. And there are also now a small list of people that I completely ignore, because they are not worthy of response.

But otherwise, I’m trying to do my part to keep discussions on a moderately bi-partisan basis.

But really – if you would all desire that I simply go away, and hate to hear anything that disagrees with your opinion – if you truly WANT an echo chamber: speak up. I’ll disappear without a trace.

  8. Terrye says:

    breschau:

Do you honestly think I do more than skim your posts? I don’t.

So elitist is all about money? Well 4 out of the 5 richest Senators are Democrats. 17 out of the 20 richest Congress people are Democrats.

And McCain spent most of his life not wealthy at all. That is his wife’s money and you know it. It is a silly point made by silly people.

The point is not just about money, but mindset. Obama is an elitist in his perspective and his attitude. That is why the sneering at the small town mayor remark sounds so bad. It is like the clingy remarks about rural people. He is a snob.

Palin has been to Iraq more often than Obama has, and she managed to do something that he did not do, she visited the wounded soldiers in Germany. Without cameras and fanfare.

Not Barry. He had better things to do.

  9. Terrye says:

and breschau, do not lecture me about wingnuts or the like. I am 56 years old. I was a Democrat for years. I know how the left thinks, I was not born in a cave…you and people like you have nothing to say to me that I did not hear decades ago.

  10. breschau says:

    Terrye:

“and breschau, do not lecture me about wingnuts or the like.”

Oh. Well, I apologize — I didn’t realize you were looking for something to simply get insulted about. For a moment, I actually thought you were asking me an honest question, and requesting an honest answer. How silly of me.

I guess I’ll just cross you off of that list of “[t]hose of you that actually know what you’re talking about”, which I did not ave you on before. Because obviously, you’re going to insult me no matter what I do, even if I’ve proven previously (as in – earlier today) that I don’t stand for unreasonable attacks from either side of the political aisle.

    I reiterate:

“if you would all desire that I simply go away, and hate to hear anything that disagrees with your opinion – if you truly WANT an echo chamber: speak up. I’ll disappear without a trace.”

  11. Terrye says:

    breschau:

Oh don’t be such a crybaby.

  12. Terrye says:

It is interesting when you think about the kind of antics that Bill Clinton got into for years that the whole state trooper thing would even be an issue. If Palin were a man and a Democrat, no one would care.

For people who want some biography on Palin, here is a link.

your being evil, stupid or malicious has nothing to do with disagreement.

That was the only thing that could really get me legitimally upset when I started here: when I’m arguing in good faith, and someone decided to ignore any points
The only problem with that statement: you’ve never argued in good faith or made any good points. There is no good point in the fact that Obama is an anti-American, non-christian, marxist and only an idiot in the tank would attempt it.

I was making and throw out an ad hominum attack against me. It just made this feel like a wasted effort – that this country was doomed.
If we ever get around to believing your crap, we’re doomed.

If you’d like to see how I treat that now, look for the recent responses from me to DaleInAtlanta or MarkForSenate. And there are also now a small list of people that I completely ignore, because they are not worthy of response.
Thankfully I’m on that “small list” and am proud of it. I don’t mind calling an idiot an idiot.

But otherwise, I’m trying to do my part to keep discussions on a moderately bi-partisan basis.
the problem is: I think you actually believe that.

Note: please remember to ignore this

  14. breschau says:

    Terrye:

The ad hominem attacks are a nice touch.

You are a… oh, I don’t know. Pick your favorite word – something that’s guaranteed to send you into a frenzy. Have fun with it.

Meanwhile, I’ll hang out here and wait for you to explain how someone who DOES NOT KNOW how many homes he owns; someone who’s preferred method of transport is a private jet; someone who spent almost a quarter of a million dollars on household help; someone that dumped his first wife for a rich beauty queen heiress; and someone that favors tax cuts for companies that sends jobs overseas is NOT an elitist.

I respected you until earlier this evening. Congratulations on trashing that in 2 whole hours.

  15. breschau says:

“If Palin were a man and a Democrat, no one would care.”

Well… yeah. Because then, “he” wouldn’t be McCain’s VP nominee.

Sometimes, I am geniuely disappointed in how easy you all make this.

  16. breschau says:

Noted far-left liberal David Frum, at The National Review:

“Sarah Palin may well have concealed inner reservoirs of greatness. I hope so! But I’d guess that John McCain does not have a much better sense of who she is, what she believes, and the extent of her abilities than my enthusiastic friends over at the Corner. It’s a wild gamble, undertaken by our oldest ever first-time candidate for president in hopes of changing the board of this election campaign. Maybe it will work. But maybe (and at least as likely) it will reinforce a theme that I’d be pounding home if I were the Obama campaign: that it’s John McCain for all his white hair who represents the risky choice, while it is Barack Obama who offers cautious, steady, predictable governance.”

And for those of you less quick on the draw than normal: *I* did not write that. David Frum did. Have a problem with it? Complain to The National Review.

Hay, both of you. Stop fighting like kids. I have an even more juvenile post at Fuanglada blog…. on how to get Hillary into the White House… again… called “Feminists and Clinton women… This is your new job.” Check me there AJ and comment on whether you think I have a future in the blogsphere.

That’s a good one, thanks for the laugh.

boo hoo, I know you’re crying in your beer that you upset our resident troll.

We only want sane people. Please disappear without a trace.

Moron, HE doesn’t own ANY homes. You having a hard time learning that.
270,000 isn’t ‘ALMOST’ a quarter of a million dollars, it’s more than a quarter million. In a capitalist society, we don’t begrudge people who earn their money honestly. It’s just the crooks like Rezko and his cronies(obama) that have illegally earned incomes that we begrudge. and I heard the other day that McCain referred to the 50 states. Last I heard Obamarama still thinks there’s 57 or 58 or 59, he’s not quite sure.
Oh, and that “I’ll disappear without a trace.” You didn’t mean that did you. Please stay, we need a resident idiot.

Remember, Barry, two packs a day and still “too” fit to be president. Chuckle

    Bresch: please remember to ignore.

Sarah Palin would probably give O a run for his money on the basketball court. She was captain of her state championship team, and made the free throws to win the final game, while her ankle was fractured.

Elitist? Worthless discussion. I’m not sure any of them should be considered elitist, socialists like Obama possess far worse characteristics to worry about, Biden seems to have eschewed many of the trappings of his position, McCain won’t touch his wife’s money, and Palin’s 80% approval rating in her state means whatever she is, she’s connected with the common people in a way that renders the elitism charge null and void.
