Liberals Finally Realize What NATO Means – And They Are Scared!

Published by at 10:53 pm under 2008 Elections,All General Discussions

No links, but if I hear another liberal fool say “Sarah Palin said the US is required to protect Georgia, as a member of NATO, if attacked by Russia – and that scares me” I think I am going to puke. So, after all these years of NATO liberals finally figured out what it means? Thankfully Sarah Palin was here to explain it to them – no clue how long they would have remained so ignorant if she hadn’t finally gotten the message through their thick skulls.

What’s both sad and funny about this issue is that BOTH Obama and Biden are on record as supporting Georgia’s admission to NATO.

  2. Redteam says:

while i support NATO and know what it means, I don’t believe Georgia is a member of NATO and unless there is a special arrangement, the US is not required to aid Georgia if attacked.

I believe we have bases in Georgia that we have been using when our Middle Eastern Friends refuse to let us tread upon thier soil.

I read recently that Issetia and that other province in Georgia that Russia is protecting is inhabited by Orthodox Christians and the rest of Georgia is mostly Muslim. Is this true? If so, I believe I am going to root for the Russians. We had no business bombing the Serbs and giving Kosovo (with a vote in the UN) to the Muslims. The Russians were the only ones who sided with the Serbs. I don’t understand our foreign policy. Why are we helping the enemy take over Christian countries and then sitting idly by while they burn church and slaughter Christians? Don’t our leaders know that eventually they will be over here killing us and burning our churches?

I’m watching the movement in the Persian Gulf.
It’s my theory that while Putin feels it’s a worthy side benefit to
recapture bits of the Soviet Union, the principal objective is to
get Iran across the finishing line armed with nuclear weapons that
it has made on it’s own. They have to be Iran’s and not Russia’s.
Russia knows Iran wants some of those devices to explode on
American soil, and concurs with that goal. That’s Putin’s plan
to severely damage the West’s economy and make
the new Soviet Union the world’s only superpower.
With the USA and Israel on the verge of attacking Iran, Russia’s
military manoeuvres are meant to back us down.
Putin is talking with Tehran about setting up military bases in Iran.
That shows how close to crunch time we are.
It’s ironic that the liberals, if successful in electing pacifist Obama,
will virtually guarantee a tragically destructive war. It might not be WWIII,
if Putin wants that he already has the strategic nukes, but it’ll be bad.

    redteam,

the question was framed “.. IF Georgia were a member of NATO AND it were attacked.”

    Please read the transcript.

  6. gwood says:

Russia’s attack on Georgia has its own repercussions, foreign investment is exiting Russia rapidly, in a large way. Couple this with the fact that the Bear’s principal source of income is oil, now down nearly a third in price, and you have the makings of another implosion. We should just sit back a while and watch the consequences accrue.

momdear – a clarification. Georgia is *not* a muslim country,
82% of the Georgian population is Orthodox Christian. Some Georgians also belong to the Armenian Apostolic Church, one of the oldest Christian communities in the world.

The Russian Orthodox heirarchy doesn’t like them much and never has because they have never submitted to their authority. It’s one of the age old disputes between Russia and Georgia.

Fun fact – the Kingdom of Armenia, ancient predecessor to Georgia, was the first nation in the world to officially adopt Christianity as their religion, beating Constantine by about 30 years.

Dave, that is exactly what I think, too.

And where can I find the info about the ships in the Persian Gulf? I would really like to send that out. Thx.

    ivehadit,

    Hi,
I tried to answer your question in another thread.
Those articles can be found at http://www.debka.com
There are two on the current issue,
There are more but you have to back into their archives
    about a month.

  10. ivehadit says:

Thanks, Dave! I didn’t see the other thread.

The premium debka service, that you have to pay for, is suddenly
saying, no big deal, Iran only has a few centrifuges working, it’ll take
them years, and besides, we don’t have a Prime Minister wot with
Olmert under indictment. Nothing is going to happen we tell ya.

If you believe that, can I interest you in London Bridge? Not the
bridge mistakenly bought and installed in Arizona. You know, the real
London Bridge, uh actually called Tower Bridge. I’ll get you a good deal.

While that’s going on, here’s some more release of info:

Iran boosts covert military nuclear project by diverting UF6 uranium from Isfahan

    DEBKAfile Special Report

    September 12, 2008, 5:35 PM (GMT+02:00)

Nuclear watchdog experts have found 50-60 tons of uranium, enough to produce five or six nuclear bombs, missing from Iran’s main nuclear production facility at Isfahan. The disappearance was discovered at the final stage of the production process, where UF6, uranium in gas form is stored, by the only CCTV Iran allowed the International Atomic Energy Agency to install at Isfahan.

US satellites have also identified a number of suspicious sites, not declared to UN inspectors. The UN inspectors and US intelligence suspect that the missing gas is being used to boost covert production of weapons-grade uranium at these secret sites.

I is shocked I tell you, Shocked. We need some really aggressive
hard core diplomacy, like wot Obama can do.

perdogg, thanks, I knew what happened in the interview. I was just referring to the quote as stated in the post, which didn’t include the word IF. I didn’t want someone that was not in the know to mistakenly think Georgia is in Nato.

    as I said, thanks anyway.
