Gibson – Interview Or Interrogation

I am not going to waste much of my time on the Charlie Gibson interview (don’t have much time to waste and others will do plenty of excellent work). I will add this comment I heard from a caller on the Bill Bennett show this morning.  The caller noted Gibson launched some lame and condescending questions at Palin who parried them with ease. Americans know most difficult issues cannot be boiled down to simple minded sound bites.

The question about the “Bush Doctrine” was not the killer the left would like. There are many aspects to the Bush Doctrine beyond the right to take action against those who pose a “Clear and Present Danger”. Palin was right to demand Gibson be precise and clear on what he was aiming at. Short hand labels used by the DC/NY Political Industrial Complex are vague and tinged with the agenda of the source. Palin knows Americans deserve more than short hand quips when discussing these issues.

The Georgia/NATO/Russia topic was right on the mark. If Georgia joins NATO we take on a lot of responsibility and could easily be face to face against Russia. Remember, Russia is trying to gain a monopoly on the energy flow through the former USSR client states. Georgia represented a real chance Russia would lose much of that strangle hold.

The fact liberals in the media and in the fevered swamps don’t get the connection because of their simple minded, sound bite thought processes doesn’t mean Palin was wrong – not by a long shot. Governor Palin knows exactly what the risks are. Energy dependence (or independence) drives much of our national security concerns (e.g., Gulf War I and the invasion of Kuwait and the threat to Saudi Oil fields).

But beyond the policy wonk stuff there is an overtone that is not going unnoticed. Gibson did not enter the event trying to have a national conversation with Palin on these coupled issues. He went in to try and sink Palin. The event was not an Interview – it was a lame interrogation. And the media refuses to end its witch hunt mentality and show a modicum of professional respect. That was clear on the whole “God’s War” crap Gibson laid out, being the good little mouthpiece for the fevered swamps of the liberal blogosphere.

No wonder Obama and the dems are losing support with Americans across the board. If the media wants to keep talking down to us as children we will take our votes and business elsewhere.

I saw a little of the interview on the internet. Gibson seemed weak and unsure. Palin came off strong and in control.

Lame interrogation is a good phrase to describe what I saw. The “God’s War” crap was a failure as Gibson came across as a tepid adversary and Palin came across as a logically reasonable emotionally religious person about to send her first born son into mortal danger.

The MSM did not do themselves proud. Can you say credibility, or lack thereof.

Does everyone realize that this was not *thee* interview? It was a rushed series of clips designed to publicize the big event which is tonight at 10 PM Eastern.

The prime-time special will also include a bio of Palin by ABC’s Kate Snow and a round-table discussion moderated by George Stephanopoulos.

Heck yeah, Gibson was a total prick and was obviously trying to steamroll Gov. Palin. But I don’t think it worked. I think she drilled right through the jowly blowhard and spoke directly to the people. I will be watching tonight. I have no doubt they will do their best to subvert and villify… but again, I don’t think it’ll work. Gov. Palin has something that cuts through all of that.

I did a little bit of analysis over at http://fuanglada.wordpress.com/ with a fun pic of our Sarah and cartoons…

Along with a Dear Matt Damon post…. as he swallows the internet hoax post about our Sarah and dinosaurs…

eg… Try a :05 google search next time, Matt, before you make yourself look so dumb.

If he spent all day on a google search, it wouldn’t help him. he would still manage to look dumb.

He was getting a thrill up his leg during his Obamessiah interview. Typical behavior of MSM.
